What do you think? Twists that make your jaw drop, that make your eyes go wide and say,"Holy..."
Stuff that shocks, or is utterly brilliant.
The twist in KotOR is a good one, but there are many others...

Bioshock

Nuff said.

I second both of those, and to add a new one...hmm...I thought the Jade Empire one was pretty good.

Edit: I know it was cliched, but just the way it was presented caught me off guard.

Digital Devil Saga, when you find out that you, everyone you know and everywhere you've been are nothing but programs.

I know there are many but I can't think of any for some stupid reason.

Baten Kaitos?

Halo 1's twist was pretty good, and well delivered. Cheeky floating bastard...

Super Mario Brothers, when you found out that their princess was in another castle.

But all joking aside, I'm not really sure that there have been too many reasonable twists (read: JRPGs don't count) that aren't pretty easy to see coming. Offhand I guess I'd vote the bit in Bioshock with the Ryan confrontation.

Yeag, about the only GOOD one I can think of is Bioshock. Every other one just seems like you can see it a mile away.

I didn't see the Baiten Kaitos one. Kalas just seemed like the stereotypical asshole main character that finally decides to help the group out.

I think the ending part of Overlord was very well-made (Good Job, Miss Pratchett :) )

System Shock 2. If you've played it you know which part I mean. If not, I refuse to spoil it. Play SS2. But do it with the lights turned down, surround sound turned up, and all the fan-made graphics upgrades. I hope you enjoy the nightmares.

MGS2 when you found out pliskin was snake, I honestly didn't know since it was years since i played MGS and didn't pay that much attention to notice it was the same person.

There was a time when any cult movie buff, even with no knowledge of the game whatsoever, could've put that together for themselves.

And then followed it with "I heard you were dead."

Halo 1; the revelation of the Flood, and then the function of the Halo ring.

Bioshock; the Ryan boss level. Completely threw me for a loop. (I figured out "your" character's origin myself, from one of Suchong's diaries, and the Atlas reveal didn't do much for me.)

Mass Effect; the history of the Reapers, and the many other twists that unlocks in the storyline.

You never saw Escape from New York? Snake Plisken? That's who Kojima based Solid Snake on!

I didn't see eli dying at the the end of episode two, espicially when from the trailers it seemed to be alyx.

Seconding the ending of Overlord.

And the twist in Jade Empire honestly *did* catch me by surprise, and I enjoyed it.

Another one I remember was the twist of the true purpose of the vaults in Fallout 2.

Eh? It's the same model with a beard, as well as the same voice.

I thought it was fairly explict to the player, if not Raiden, who has never actually met him.

Games tend to not have too complex plot twists sadly : /

I did like BioShock though, because I hate voiceless, willess dorks as protagonists, but in this case it wasn't a stupid design choice, it was a clever design choice : D

...I did think he used the phrase "Would you kindly..." a little too often for a normal person, but I attributed it to character ^^

As a game BioShock wasn't that impressive though ~~

...can't really think of anything else. I know some old text-games have awesome stories, but they're so bloody hard most of the time ~~

A game me and a friend are making (an rpg!) will have the best plot twist ever though! : D

Actually, I think the best twist in that was when you entered Arsenal Gear and found out that the Colonel was just some bizarre AI program. Since I was only 10 at the time of playing it, it gave me some pretty freaky nightmares.

Also, the end of HL 2 was pretty twisty with Eli's death, though I wonder why the Advisor didn't go for Freeman first. Hmm...elderly scientist, or young freedom-fighter scientist who could butcher an army with just a crowbar and his glasses.

Call of Duty 4 Ending. It comes out of nowhere, makes no sense and gives you an absolute cockslap.

How did you not see that coming? Or is my sarcasm detector off again?

There are a bunch of good ones in the Phoenix Wright series, since the entire game is mystery/story driven; it's not just "I have to find a way to do xyz", but "I have to find out what the xyz is going on." So even though I posted that it has some of the WORST plot twists ever in the other thread...it also has some of the best. Although naming them would probably ruin the entire game for some people.

Actually I did, even thought I was like, 13 at the time.
Somewhere around the Spirit temple, which I always completed before the Shadow, I came to realise, that I'm seeing an aweful lot of some random ninja. This ninja just so happens to be a Sheikah. However the only other one you encounter is Impa. Impa + Zelda ridding off -Zelda in the future divided by Sheik being everywhere before you = Zelda is Sheik.

I agree with what was said earlier about the Flood, how they are revealed as the greatest threat of them all, and that the Covenant are bumbling maniacs by comparison.

One problem I had with the Flood that I expected to see resolved in Halo 3: If the Forerunners were so powerful they could shove all the Flood on the Fortress Worlds, why couldn't they just blow those up? Flood aren't jump capable, they would have died in space, rather than blowing the bejesus out of all sentient life-scratch that ALL life EXCEPT the Flood? I still haven't picked up the latest book, so there might be something in there. Also, I really want my theory that the Forerunners were human to be confirmed.

Super Smash Bros Brawl, the Subspace Emissary.

Where the cloaked figure turned out to be ROB.

...

Okay, it's not a plot twist, but I found it awesome and surprising, damnit!

WWII games as a whole, I just don't know how they keep the ending so fresh and unpredictable, I really don't see it coming... though lets be honest, it would be nice to see the Germans win just once, that would be quite a plot twist.

Also Bioshock with would you kindly, brilliant twist, and Deus Ex was good for plot, can't think of any specific events right now, but it was all good really.

Anyone remember Thief: The Dark Project? If so, you'll remember the scene I'm thinking of.

If not... well here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AAzkPkiImo

Still my all time favorite game cinematic.

System Shock 2's famous revelation was also amazing and paved the way for the Bioshock twist that's already been mentioned here a few times.

Ace Combat 5, when you realise that the Belkans are behind the entire Osea-Yuktobanian conflict.
