Final Fantasy X-2

Not really a dark secret in the sense that I liked it (because I hated it), but because the entire game was a horrible disaster and embarassment to the Final Fantasy series. Worst game purchase of my entire life.

Not sure why I haven't sold it off/shattered the disk yet...

Mortal Kombat Armageddon; I suck at it and it sucks back, but the charachter customization is fun. An I think it's funny that when you punch someone, a gallon of blood shoots out of their nose.

Apologies abound.

[quote=Alcari] And pieces of manure, such as:
Empire of the Ants, Firewarrior, Machines, SimEarth, Starwars: The gungan frontier, Breed, Startopia, SW: Droidworks, G-Police, Dark colony, Arx fatalis, Thunder Brigade and a load of others i've yet to try.
[quote]

Droidworks was amazing, a friend of mine brought it round ages ago and we played it for some 7 hours straight. The dancing robots was pure hilarity as well as purposely killing your droid. My 'dirty little secret' would have to be Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War for the pc, all my friends hate it for being Warhammer but it's an amazing RTS.

Most of my friends play FPS games so I'm too ashamed to admit I'd rather play Myst than Ghost Recon. Myst is certainly nothing to be ashamed of, but I can't help but feel that rather than joining the football team I've joined the AV club so I masquerade as a hardcore FPS gamer. I like many game genres but I just like a more relaxed gaming experience sometimes.

...that and I suck at Ghost Recon.

Giants: Citizen Kabuto...

The last time I was playing it a friend of mine walked up to me and promptly said "What the hell are you playing?!". He probably said this because I was flying around shooting fire at guys as a scantily clad reaper vixen in graphics that wouldn't make my pocket calculator struggle, much. For all it's faults, both gameplay and programming, I love that game beyond any other.

Rayman Raving Rabbids, on PC, singleplayer.
The problem is that my circle of friends loves the game, so why in Bermuda am I feeling guilty pleasure when playing it?

Enter The Matrix, for the Game cube. Yes, it was so bug filled, but I loved the "hacking" mode. Must have played through it twice.

And I bought both Animal Crossing games. I loved them at first, but I haven't touched them for like.... forever. >.>

Mine is probably Okami. This is a conversation I had with one of my friends about it:

"So what's this new game you got like?"
"Well, you play as the sun goddess of ancient Japanese mythology in the form of a wolf."
"...cool... um, so you can probably pwn the bad guys pretty well since you're a god."
"Well, yeah, but mostly you draw stuff with an ink brush."
"....."

Okami is my favourite game of all time, and if you feel bad for owning it then you don't deserve to play games at all! It's just a pity that Clover Studios got bought out, which probably means no sequels.

I love that game so much. I bought the guide book, the art book and both soundtracks!

Nintendogs and Marvel Nemesis though for different reasons...
p.s. To be honest though I don't hide Nemesis from anyone I just figure I should've put it here due to the (in my opinion unwarranted) hate it receives.
Oh and the Little Mermaid...but that wasn't my fault I inherited it along with my (female) cousin's Game Boy along with Super Mario Land 2, Qix and Yoshi

I love it too, and I'm not ashamed at all. Oh, and I heard it's coming out for Wii in the near future. It's just a remake, not a sequel, but still. I have found that the Cursed Shinshuu Plains songs help me concentrate. Just as a minor tip for the soundtracks.

I bought not one but two DBZ games and enjoyed them at the age of 19. I felt shamed and dirty the instant the menus started sputtering obnoxious dialog at me.

Rumours of a Wii release have been floating about for a while, but the game wouldn't play terribly well on the Wii, unless they totally revamped the control system to suit. You can't just change the brush over to the motion sensing and assume it'll work.

I'm not embarrassed or ashamed of them in the slightest, but a couple of games that I love that people might probably think I should be ashamed of would be the Pokemon games and The Sims 2.

Pokemon I only played the Blue version of when I was a kid, but a while back I picked up Diamond and found it to be just as fun.

The Sims? Even I can't really explain my fascination with it. It's fun.
And you can say what you like about EA pumping out expansions for it, it means that by the time I'm bored with the game theres generally a new expansion out with new stuff for me to do. It's just continually fun. You wouldn't think so, but it is.

Öuhm... It'd have to be this strategy/rpg game a friend sent me once. It's great fun and very deep (deeper than... say Bahamut Lagoon) with lots of challenging levels, advanced strategic options, class changes and the like. The problem is that it's simultanously a hardcore hentai game : P

It doesn't bother me much personally, but I think it qualifies as something you wouldn't want to be caught dead playing, regardless of why you play it : )

Is it... I can't remember the name, but is was some post-apocalyptic setting. If we're on the same page.
I'd have bought it, but I'm like 13 and have no credit card.

Final Fantasy X-2 as a few have said.

I really liked this game for what it was and still play it. It's pretty rare in these save the world type games that you actually get to see the result of your work and a half-destroyed world that has gone from doom and gloom to j-pop. Love it or hate it that kind of made sense to me.

Yeah some of the girl power moments made me bang my head against the TV but you could nullify random battles almost immediately in this game so it's trading one annoyance for another. Most Final Fantasys have me on the verge of throwing the game out the window before end and I'm only "playing" to find out what happens. In this one it was getting past the beginning that was the hard part.

I'm afraid I must now add "My French Tutor" to my list of "games I'm ashamed of".

I know it's completely educational, but it has games that are actually fun to me. Word searched, multiple choice, and 'wack-a-mole' are the only ones I've unlocked so far, but it makes learning French fun. It's not that it's bad to learn a new language, but I can't really see myself trying to verbally justify buying a DS. To learn French. Even if it wasn't the primary reason.

Maybe, when I'm good enough, I can justify it IN French.

Gran Turismo 2 on PS1 yes I know it has been updated and now goes in 10008000p on the PS23 (slight exageration) but this is the best racing game ever period. Also Locoroco and Patapon for the PSP. These are the best games on the PSP but all my friends just call me a sissy and carry on jacking cars in GTA

Animal Crossing, I get some funny looks on the train when the girl next to me, who is playing the same game, notices that I`m playing it to. In fact, they often move, maybe its not the game...

I play a lot of old games on emulators...so mostly Pokemon Silver, and Smash Bros. It's funny when I say "Yeah, I have smash, I own with captain falcon" and they ask "orly? what's your friend code?" and I say "no man, the N64 version :\"

but probably my darkest secret is my love of LOTR: The Two Towers for PS2. Long after I should have moved on, after getting a perfect with every character on every level, I'm still going Legolas on Tower of Orthanc again and again...I love that game so much. Shameless plug goes here, if you see it in a bargain bin somewhere, get it.

Viva Pinata

going from a shooter to the docile and self-satisfying garden of creatures, is... deliciously Zen

The phrase "deliciously zen", is a term i keep as my dark little secret, but, come on, how many people use the internet

Same here, although I never keep it a secret. I actually defend Viva Pinata heavily when anyone dares try to deny how awesome it is!

Viva Pinata was sadly a verry addicting game i had to trade it in or i wouldnt stop playing it

Viva Pinata is actually one of the games that came with my 360 but I haven't touched it once:(. from the sounds of things I need to try it.

be warned, you will be using Pinata terms within a week.

I love pinata. Got it for the wife and played behind her back when she was at work It's like crack! LOL

I also still love playing STATE OF EMERGENCY on ps2 It's rubbish but the time trial bits (Shoot as many people as possible) are brilliantly balanced!

Puzzle bobble to my wife thinks I'm soft in the head when she saw me playing it.

I got a huge load of old games when the library I did some IT work for a library. When they got rid of the game section I volunteerd to take the whole treasure trove home for 50 bucks. It was like finding a Dragon's Hoard.

Including such gems as:
Oni, Homeworld, Homeworld2, Alpha Centauri, Civ3, Pax imperium, The neverhood, Fragile Allegiance, Outpost 2, Planescape Tornment, KKND, Populous, Ceasar 3.

I only played the demo for populous but what I experienced was one of the best things to ever happen on a PC :P

I'm not embarrassed to own this at all, it really is the best GT (even with the forced 16:9 menu screens)

Overall have bought it 3 times mostly due to region issues.

and this is coming from somebody sad enough to quit their job just to stay home master it :/

ftr. how good it must be to be peter molyneux (bullfrog) with his nismo 400R

game i am embarrassed to own *ahem* evil zone. i tried to sell it but nobody wanted it, either that or karin is hot? (you'll know what i mean if you've played it)

To be completely honest, I'm a little saddened that I see some relatively good games listed in here, Odin sphere being among them. (Really most Nippon Ichi games are rather girly but they're nearly all good as well.)

How am I supposed to make fun of someone if they don't mention games like Crystal Pony tales, Bloody Roar, or Doki Doki Majou Shinpan?

Ah well. "Rhapsody" is probably my little dark secret, as it is possibly one of the girliest games ever envisioned by man. (Assuming it was envisioned by man.) Even though it's horribly outdated, I can't get rid of it though as it's somewhat of a classic and hard to find item.

I think the preteen witch molesting game tops anything short of a virtual rape simulator

Hey, don't get me wrong here. I loved Tie Fighter. That was the only game i played on my PC for over a year. It's just when ever i mention it, i get odd looks like it never existed. (I really hope they make a new one. Up to date gfx, storyline ect. It's good to go back to the classics)
