My all time "dark little secret" would have to be Silk Road. A free to download/free to play MMORPG found on this website: http://www.silkroadonline.net

Slightly annoying sound effects but still addictive as hell. When I first got it I lost 14 days of my life and almost lost my job. I had reacently quit playing WoW because I refused to pay 3000ISK a month to spent 75% og my gaming time traveling between places. Atleast when you do it in EVE it's automatic. Sitting for 4 hours infront of my computer with my "f*ck-You" finger on the "W" key and occationally moving the mouse a bit is not my idea of entertainment.

So I started looking for free MMORPGs and this is the best one I found. I enjoy it. And because it is a JMMORPG the spelling and grammar is HILARIOUS!!. :-D

....FFXII. Don't know why I'm supposed to be embarrassed to possess it, let alone enjoy it, but I apparently am, so there you go.

The only game I can think of that I was ashamed of was Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball, but I was always open about enjoying it (it's a compulsive game. Even when using both hands). That being said, I've had to stop myself buying the 360 sequel, on the basis of the many negative reviews of it. I fear that one day, however, I shall give in, and have a real reason to be ashamed.

If you like the first game, feel no qualms about getting the second one. The reason it took flak from the critics was that they didn't think there was enough difference between the two to justify the second purchase, but I disagree, there's a lot of new stuff.

It's the Xbox 360 itself that I feel ashamed of owning. *shudder* If you haven't already got one, wait for the 720 (or whatever's coming next). I literally cannot look my friends in the eye and admit that I've gotten the 3RLoD twice in less than a year since I bought it.

Mine is probably Okami. This is a conversation I had with one of my friends about it:

"So what's this new game you got like?"
"Well, you play as the sun goddess of ancient Japanese mythology in the form of a wolf."
"...cool... um, so you can probably pwn the bad guys pretty well since you're a god."
"Well, yeah, but mostly you draw stuff with an ink brush."
"....."

Okami is my favourite game of all time, and if you feel bad for owning it then you don't deserve to play games at all! It's just a pity that Clover Studios got bought out, which probably means no sequels.

I love that game so much. I bought the guide book, the art book and both soundtracks!

Oh don't get me wrong, I love the game too (I also bought the strategy guide - didn't know there was an art book! I want it now), it's just that my friends think it's weird.

Make them play it! (just keep a save past the introduction for when anyone comes around talking crap about Okami without playing it)

I don't own it, but I do love everything about Eternal Sonata and my room mate thinks it is the craziest thing he has ever seen.

I love Eternal Sonata as well, though I despised some of the English voice acting (most was good, but, for instance, why the Hell did Salsa have a southern lilt? It annoyed me on her. Seriously. Just 'cause it was her. She wasn't southern. GAH!) The newer Kirby games, have become pretty childish, and the Japanese only games "Densetsu no Staffy," which I spelled wrong. A lot like Kirby, but even more childish. Go emulators.

Edit: I've been considering getting Sonic the Hedgehog for the 360, even though I've played it on a friend's and it really sucked. I'd get it just to say, "Yes, I own it, and it sucks... but the music is still good."

My hidies are Pokemon, Rayman, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, for some reason they are un-cool to play. But still, 10 year old kids play GTA and Counter-Strike at my school, which is AAA-games to them, and shuns everything else.

I don't have any. I have played some games that I would be ashamed to play now, mostly because nearly all of them sucked, but they were all when I was an age that they were appropriate, if not good (Pokemon, Harry Potter, some other I can't think of, etc.)then at the least mediocre.

Um...kind of all of them? From a specific group of my friends, i.e. my female friends who are my own age, most of whom are avid readers and writers and wouldn't understand why I would take time that could be used creatively and spend it throwing pixels across a screen instead. And since I have been claiming to be a non-taker of shit, I have to stop being a hypocrite and come out of the closet about my gaming. It is surprisingly difficult to do.

The irony being that, even as I did this, I got the itch and went on a writing streak that pushed out my gaming time.

Pata-pata-pata-pon.

Christ I was in college early one morning and some guy had that game on his psp, sitting across the class (I think there was only a few people in the class that early so it was really quiet). But all I heard for a good straight hour or so was "pata pata pata pon!". I'm sure the game's fun, but god damn it! Its really annoying!

Well I played Rhapsody once, it was fun but kind of easy. As far as Animal Crossing and Pokemon go, well my friends and I still play them. Hey you Pikachu and Viva Piņata are probably the only two games I've ever felt talked down too while playing.

*somewhat ashamed* I've admitted to owning a copy of Monster Rancher 4. The most fun I had with that game was "creating" the monster in the first place. Beyond that, eh...

Dead or Alive extreme 2, gives your friends a chance to say "i bet you brought that just to be a saddo" and gives you an opertunity for an argument.

Have to say Baten Kaitos Origins. My friend and I are always gabbing off to random passersby about how amazing this game is in every imaginable fashion to the point where one would assume it sweats perfection. And basically it does.

I played Odin Sphere. What an amazing game it was. When I saw the first cutscene the graphics were so beautiful I almost cried. No it has nothing to do with Griselda, if that's what you were thinking.

I'm so tempted to write something highly offensive to your comment that PSO games are 'crappy'.

Ehh, I have a general dislike for dungeon crawlers and their style of "kill a bajillion monsters for a 0.00024215% chance of getting the Ownage Cannon, with which you'll be unstoppable". I would elaborate on the many other things I dislike about the game, but that's best saved for a review thread.

I can hear people shouting 'thats not canon' in the distance, but mine would be StarControl 3 and Fallout Tactics.

Starcon 3 caught alot of flak for not being as good as 2, which is one of the best games ever made. The catch is that it's still not too bad. Sure some majorly spotty voice acting and most of the new ships sucked but the core gameplay was still solid and had some very clever story elements.

Tactics gets a bum rap simply because it's not fallout 3. It actually fixes most of the issues with Fallout's combat mechanics and keeps the flavor of the world quite well. All told it's a good tac-combat game with a few endgame balance issues in a cool setting. Whats wrong with that?

This SpongeBob game I found for $5. It was childish, extremely short, but somewhat interesting. I can't find it now though...

Viva Pinata and Harvest Moon
The looks I get when someone goes through my collection of RPG's and sees those, especially the first one... priceless

I'm a pretty hard core FPS gamer, so one of my little secrets is Mickey Mouse's Castle of Illusion for the Sega. It may not be hardcore but it's alot of fun. (same with QuackShot: Starring Donald Duck)

I've got another one - I just bought that Sneak King (Burger King) game used at Gamestop for like $2. I haven't actually played it yet.

Railroad Tycoon 2. So. Damn. Fun.

Also, MGS2: SoL. I know it's got a big fanbase, but I still don't like admitting to people that I like listening to that 40-minute info-dump at the end. You know the one.

1. Pokemon. My "dark little secret" with that is that I haven't fallen out of it since I got into it like eight years ago. :X
2. Legend of Dragoon .. ALRIGHT I LIKED IT. A LOT. It ripped a lot from FF7, and the only redeeming quality were the CGI and battle gameplay.
3. Jumping on the FFX-2 bandwagon of shame. I played for the gameplay and for trying to ressurect Tidus. Wanted to hit Rikku with a kayak paddle, but .. DAMNIT OKAY. I LIKED THEIR DRESSPHERE OUTFITS. >( YOU GOT ME.
