I think there was a mock up of this somewhere along the way, it involved Midna riding Wolf Link, with some of the attacks coming from Link, some from Midna. And yes, the Final Smash would have to be Fused Shadow. Edit @ Indigo: Which Doctor? I don't think any of them, despite their many achievements would be suitable. |

I know that. I put it out there, but its hard to decide. Do we want the "traditional" doctor that Americans recognize best? Do we want the grandfather doctor? Ecclestons dark Doctor? Or the current Doctor? Anyway, the final Smash has to be "scientific gibberish" |

Eddie who? |

Look at my Avatar. That Eddie. |
Paperboy Posts: 32 Joined: 15 Apr 2008 | Hector from Fire Emblem, he was my favourite (next to Eliwood and Sain.) Definitely uses his wolf ax, and does wicked damage and smashes, but is a heavy-type character. For his final smash, just his critical hit from the game. Eddie T Head |

Very good, you identified which Eddie. Also, he's been in a few games, so he has half a shot. |

Ah. I like that idea a little more than mine. |

Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 825 Joined: 6 Mar 2008 | I don't want to read this whole thread, so apologies if this one's been mentioned - Amaterasu from Okami (they just released a Wii version). Her final smash or whatever (I don't even play this game) could involve the screen turning into paper and some kind of ink attack hits everyone...? |

He was in one of the Tony Haks skaters, and his own FPS |

That's not the same Eddie that's the "mascot" for Iron Maiden is it? |

I don't even know why. Just, somehow the thought of any Street Fighter characters in SSMB incites rage in me. It feels like the equivalent of putting Dante from DMC in, which I think we all can agree would be ridiculous however easy he'd be to adapt (not being a Nintendo character nonwithstanding). I personally hope SSMB continues for as long as they can possibly make it work. I don't even OWN a Wii, but just the knowledge this game exists (and all the information I've been able to gather about it) makes the world brighter somehow. I forget who posted this, but I am almost certain Samus CAN change between normal and Zero Suit Samus at will. It's listed as one of her special moves, seperate from the Final Smash, in her profile on Smash Bros. Dojo. All that said, I would like to put in a vote for a character I'd like to see in the games: Nina from Breath of Fire. It's not my idea originally, I found it on a forum doing a completely unrelated search, but I thought it was awesome. The person suggesting it even posted a full moveset, but I've taken up too much space already to do that. As for why Nina first and not Ryu (the protagonist from the Breath of Fire series), I'd say because the game has too many 'cliche blue-haired RPG hero' characters already. |
Paperboy Posts: 14 Joined: 4 Feb 2008 | Klonoa would be awesome. His B move would fire his wind ring and inflate an enemy for use as a projectile, his second jump would be followed by him flapping his ears to hover slightly, and his Final Smash would be the Thunder Hurricane from Klonoa Heroes where he spins rapidly as lightning strikes the field. Unfortunately Namco wouldn't allow him to be in a game that's to be released in America, since their company is run by a bunch of xenophobic chimps. |

SSB is not a game where strategy has a big role, moves that require long-term planning have no place in this game at all. Special moves in this game just need to have a significant "pop", something that happens immediately and blows the opponent away. Either that or they need to be exclusively recovery moves. Also, anyone says Megaman would be a Samus clone is, I'm sorry, a damned idiot. They're alike only in that they have chargable arm cannons. That's it. That's the only thing they have in common. Then again, besides the really obvious ones like Master Chief, Spyro and Crash Bandicoot, there's not many other iconinc characters on the other consoles that I can think of. but hey, prove me wrong! EDIT: My suggestion for a character - K.K. Slider. You can't beat a singing, guitar playing dog. |

Mewtwo and Lucario have nothing in common, and yet Lucario was a Mewtwo Clone. |

@ PsychoJosh: Actually, most of my strategy included making sure no-one had more lives than me, making sure scared newbs wouldn't be the last people I kill and keeping the Smashball out of the hands of newbs. I'm not sure whether I'm disagreeing or stating fact though, but some strategy is involved. |
Paperboy Posts: 31 Joined: 5 Mar 2008 | Since pyre1million brought it up, I'm going to point out that Samus can't change between her normal armor and the Zero Suit at will. If you're normal armor Samus, you can discard it for the Zero Suit by quickly mashing up and down taunts repeatedly, but if you're Zero Suit Samus, the only way to get back into your normal armor is to hit the smash ball. Also: Lucario wasn't a Mewtwo clone, he was a a Mewtwo replacement. Mewtwo was hard to use, which Lucario rectified while keeping most of the moves. Back on topic though, I think some Disney characters could be neat, especially the ones that have been in SNES games. I'm thinking Aladdin, especially, would be cool - almost as agile as Shiek, but a bit tougher. He'd throw apples and use the Genie for his special attacks. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 112 Joined: 12 Apr 2008 | I would have to say Geno from Super Mario RPG cause he IS the best in that game, a great spell caster, and he's a freakin' possessed puppet. They let R.O.B. in. How about Knuckles & Tails, because Sonic needs back up and Amy Rose, again back up and because the only chick characters are Samus/Zero Suit Samus, Zelda/Sheik, Peach, and Jigglypuff and if you want my opinion, Peach and Jiggs suck. And put in an Animal Crossing character so that the series isn't represented by just a stage, some trophies, stickers, and an Assist Trophy that doesn't SHUT THE HELL UP!!! |

Whatever. The point is, the two are nothing alike in the series, and yet in SSBB they are linked heavily. In Zelda, Ganon is not one thing like Captain Falcon, but again, we have cloning. As we can see, it doesn't ussually matter how dissimilar the two characters are, if they have one feature in common, they will be cloned. |
BANNED Posts: 22 Joined: 4 Oct 2007 | I really think Megaman deserved to be in brawl, but Nintendo dropped the ball on that because they're a bunch of egocentric cunts. Actually, no, scratch that, it's Sakurai's fault. What the hell was the point of polling people for who they wanted if they didn't even use a FRACTION of those suggestions? I recall Megaman being the most popular requested character next to Sonic, and Capcom deliberately OFFERED Nintendo their character to use (google "keiji inafune megaman brawl"), but they didn't put him in. I bet Capcom would even be gracious enough to model it for them. Seeing that empty space in between Snake and Sonic on the back of the SSBB box just makes me sigh in disdain, knowing who else could've gone there. I personally think if Megaman did get in they would've had a tough choice to make between using X or Classic Megaman, but I think they would've gone with Classic with some of X's moves. X has more potential for moves but Classic is more representative of the series as a whole. User was banned for: I review you. Yeah, you.. (365 days) |

Well, here Snake took precedence, cause Hideo Kojima had been begging to have Snake in since before Melee. Then they went for the one with the highest number of votes, i.e. Sonic. I'm relatively certain that Megaman will appear in the next one, they had just set themselves the limit of two third-party characters so the focus doesn't just shift to the third parties and all the Nintendo character are ignored. In the words of Kirby, "No. No! I've had it with this shit. I'm all about, you know, third parties and all, but this shit is ridiculous. Enough is fucking enough!" |
