Best is Iron Maiden, for any situation, whether virtual or real life.

Whenever San Sebastian by Sonata Arctica starts playing, my combos do slightly more damage ;)

Soil are pretty badass to listen to.
But i always find that chidlish music has the best feeling when taking a hammer to someones face, Manhunt whilst listening to Gabby La La is equalled by nothing.

Metal. Thrash, Power or otherwise. Not Nu Metal. Ick.

Also, southern rock. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniel's band and The Outlaws are some obvious good choices here.

Joker and the theif + rogue = funniest and most reckless ways to get yourself owned, while killing alot of enemies

This is especially true in Warsong gulch, i swear listening to J+T lets you get away with more stupid crap, like trying to take 3 alliance at once.

i think it depends on the situation and the game being played, tho i do tend to agree that metal can get good for killing and driving and by metal i mean anything that's not nu-metal, the real stuff like maiden, priest, slayer, gwar, basically any thing that makes you want to drink beer, beat up on your friends in the pit, fuck on the floor and say a big fuck you to the world

tho i have found that playing hootie and the blowfish at loud volumes can be really distracting to other players and get them angry at you so they don't play as well and make mistakes

Indeed. Any Keith Urban album before he turned outrageously mainsteam ('Blue Jeans'? WTF!?) can also be a great selection of generic grinding tunes.

Racing, Fighting-something fast like run to the hills or 2 minute to midnight.
Shooting-something moderately paced with the occasional fast part like I wanna rock.
Large battles w/ swords - something grand and regal like Carmina Burana.

It really comes down to what type of game you are playing.

Calm/Stealthy = Classical, a bit of Bach, Motzart or Claude DeBussey.
Driving/Extreme Sports = Ska, Reggae, Punk, Jazz and Funk.
Ass-Kickery = Hard and fast, but paced. Year Zero is my current headshot soundtrack.

While playing a...

Rogue in arena/Spy: Pink Panther theme is absolutely classic here, but I also like a bit of Franz Ferdinand or Muse for some reason.

Sport: I can't play sport games for shite, probably because playing real sport kinda puts a damper on it.

Shooters: Rage Against The Machine is brilliant, nothing like heavy bass for headshots or chainsawing down suckers in GoW.

Warcraft 3 online mod "Battle for the Carribean"

the game, for shiz, goes for at least 2 hours, but it never gets old if your kicking ass to (duh!) the pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack!!

nails has gone downhill since the fragile, the year zero remixes are great but the year zero album sux compared to a lot of the older stuff

listen to pretty hate machine or broken, he's become way too maistream and lost his edge

Hmm..the best killing-people music I've ever used has got to be Turkish March by Mozart.

Works best with games like Hitman and Saints Row since there is alot of people to slay at any given time.

If I want to think, I put on Gatti.

If I want to pwn some n00bs, I put on metal (bitch)

If I want to think while killing people (i.e. Fire Emblem), I put on The Police. Wierd?

Apologies to anyone confused by this comment. I'm not sure I understand myself.

I dunno really... Only thing i listen to is metal so i aint that fussed

RPG's i put on some Power metal. (Sonata Arctica and Blind Guardian/Demons and Wizards seem to do the trick)

FPS's I put on Faster/Heavier stuff. (Strapping Young Lad, Hatebreed, Slayer, Dethklok or Amon Amarth seem to do it for that one)

if not any of them its just Turisas and Fear Factory. xD

For me, I prefer to listen to the ingame music (I dunno, it's just how always I've been), but I suppose that I'd be listening to anything I have in my library, or on my Ipod, at the time.

It depends on the game, for fast paced shooters, i listen to hardstyle and for slower paced games, it usually something a little slower.

I like Rap or 80's rock... Mainly only listen to it for racing/flying games, or when playing co-op though.

This thread is obsolete anyway because the best band ever is blatantly Rage Against the Machine, and the best experience ever is charging round on CoD listening to Vietnow.

Anything by Joe satriani is pretty versatile enough for most gaming moments.
but Yngwie's "beethovens 5th" is a pretty good song I use on my Ipod while Pwning in CS(yes, I still play it)
Then there's dragonforces "through the fire and the flames" for team assault games
And,as others have said, Rage is good for getting me pumped for most games("ashes in the fall", "down rodeo")
