Hexic springs instantly to mind. I would say gears of war, but theyre already doing it, the game was overhyped as it is.

Nah, Gears of War isn't overhyped. I DO however, fear a crappy movie.

Anyhoo... Prince of Persia... but they're also working on that one...

Then, maybe... Guitar Hero. Just imagine the lousy Disney-esque plot in which a guy playing a colour-matching game on a plastic guitar, achieves ultimate stardom... GOD that would be horrible.

It's being made, but i'd still say Max Payne. I LOVE the Story, Setting and Style of the Game, but as a movie, it would (will?) become a bit too obvious how much of the concept, action and style is "taken" from other movies.

Other than that, i hope Half Life, Quake, F.E.A.R./Project Origin and Soul Calibur will be spared from a movie Treatment.

Dear Movie Producers: If you want to make videogame movies, please consider Adventure Games first. Or...you know, just don't.

If they do Soul Caliber, their budgets going to be through the roof, what with the hiring of the supermodels and all...

Halo should not be a movie. It's a game about shooting things, which doesn't make for a good movie.

I did love max payne games, they're doing a third game, but after the film. And it's imposible to do a half life movie, i can see it now "A man with a crowbar singlehandedly takes on the alien race for 90 minutes of ogling Alyx' boobs and watching a crowbar go back and forth", what a craptacular film that'd be.

Man, Half-Life is such an awesome game series, I hope they don't make it into a movie (and god forbid a movie series). HL is a great example of a videogame. It wouldn't work as a book, or a movie. Just like it doesn't work when you watch someone play.

Game-Movies are doomed to be crappy shoot em up/ slash em up/ beat em up action movies because games are action orientated, or at least the popular ones are.

Tell that to the countless action and racing movies with cars driving fast and breaking apart before our very eyes.

I actualy think that the story of Assasins creed would have worked better in a movie. It was completely awful that is why. Well the Middle East story the Future was pretty cool IMO

games are always bad movies because they try to take the biggest baddest action games that were written out for a 8-12 hour playthrough storyline and they have to take it down to two hours, unless *shudder* they try to do a series. then everyone runs away screaming

Here Here. Movie producers should just learn to leave games well alone.

My votes for games that should never be movies:
Pong,
Tetris,
and Street fighter again, wasn't killing Raul Julia enough?

Ditto Kane and Lynch. It'll just be a hybrid of Collateral and Heat. They're doing it as well, though.

Kane and lynch is seeing a sequal and a film, they better not screw up a great game.

I'm suspicious, they posted it April 1st and it comes out April 1st, am I the only one who thinks this might be a joke?

Edit: there's also no IMDb listing. thank god for pranks.
Also i think that making an Indigo Prophesy movie would be a bit redundant.

Pretty much any movie that follows the plot of a game is doomed to failure, primarily thanks to the aforementioned need to chop a 8-10 hour game to 1 1/2 or 2 hours.

I can't recall ANY games that turned into good movies, I think I was about one of the 4 people who went to see HITMAN, I was being optimistic...ended up drowning my sorrows in the nearest pub.

That said, thank Jeebus they pulled the plug on the HALO movie.

Super Mario Brothers was awsome (shut up, it was)
Resident Evil series was great (third one wasnt as good as the first two, but still decent)
Hitman was surprisingly decent.

Everything else has been shit.

VG movies will get made, this is inevitable. I wish the people responsible for these decisions would look at the RE series of movies, and understand what made them do better than any other VG movie ever made. And while I think Hitman shows signs of learning from the success, the amount of movies currently in production seems to say that it was a fluke.

Although, a side note: Id rather have a hundred terrible VG movies, than for movie studios to keep raping my childhood memories with remakes of 80s cartoons.

None. The whole idea of games to movies is just dispicable. I've not seen the first game- movie that's even worth talking about. Why not make cartoons or cgi films?, live action movies made from video games have never been any good.

Dude, I loved Super Mario Bros when I was a kid. It was nothing like the games or anything, but hey, thats what artistic license is all about, eh?

A Zelda movie would probably be bad, but I'd be stoked if one came out that was done well. I dunno, it's so hard for filmmakers to make movies based on games that please the games fanbase, but I think every game has the potential to make a good movie if it's done properly.
