Gone Gonzo Posts: 4822 Joined: 30 Jan 2008 | Thats hardly fair, Aerosmith is a fantastic band. They aren't called Americas greatest Rock & Roll band for nothing. Unless you mean why anyone would make a game centered around just one band? |
Copy Clerk Posts: 105 Joined: 14 Feb 2008 | I have never heard them called that, and I live in america. And yes, it seems a bit stupid to make a game centered around one band, and one band only. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 626 Joined: 31 Jan 2008 | My theroy on this is that (now I have seen it on the front page of Ultimate Guitar and here... I know ver little about it) it is being made for people who cant get DLC. Lets be honest.. Not everyone has live and they want some extras. Things like this might be a good idea if they come out a lot and are cheap. Kinda like all the singstar stuff. I wouldnt buy it but aslong as its cheap it might not do to badly. Maybe they can bring out "Bassguitar hero" =P |

It's not just Aerosmith. It's Aerosmith, bands Aerosmith played with, and bands that inspired Aerosmith. |

Yes, bu Aerosmith will make up more than half of it. |

This isn't even Aerosmith's first game. They had an arcade rail-shooter back in the 80's (or early 90's) where your ammo consisted of CDs. |
Paperboy Posts: 19 Joined: 28 Mar 2008 | I could see this being better as maybe a large file DLC. But to make an entire game out of it seems a bit much. And I do agree that it would be better on Rock Band than using the GH3 system. Red Octane makes some great peripherals, I just don't see them as doing as good a job as Harmonix on getting all the fine points right... |
Muckraker Posts: 250 Joined: 5 Feb 2008 | I can see myself copping out and getting this game. But not because I'm totally pumped about it or anything. It's kind of a random move, in my opinion, to just make a game based around aerosmith, especially since I've heard it will contain a microphone, and possibly other peripherals. Guitar hero seem's to be competing with rock band, but in the totally wrong way. They should be making GH only guitars, and games filled with crazy solo's and 18 minute epic metal songs. Like Rime of the of Ancient Mariner by Iron Maiden. |

Say what?! How does a DS version work? Can someone link me? As for Aerosmith, yes they are freaking awesome, but I wouldn't buy more than an expansion pack centred around one band. |

Aparently you just use the pen to play the note i think my mate was talking to me about it a few days ago |

Be the bassguitarist! Drip with awesomeness! Play the bass guitar while making love! Anyway, who wouldn't want to play Dream On? It's not the fastest and most guitartastic songs out there but it's still awesome and I'd love to play it. |

MMMMMmmmm delicious. That would be amazing. Which is exactly why it's not being done. The trend of NOT doing something smart in movies and television has made it's way into videogames ten fold. And the DS version has a four button attachment like the guitar and you strum with the stylus. |

Having downloaded it for GH3, I can confirm that it is indeed a fun song to play. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 4822 Joined: 30 Jan 2008 | There is no way that Neversoft would actually do that, including the microphone, it would be too much extra work for an expansion. |
Beat Writer Posts: 161 Joined: 13 Dec 2007 | It's just another milking of a popular franchise, seriously what can you add to the Guitar Hero games to continue the series? not an awful lot, the fact they're abusing Aerosmith's music and therefore ruining their image by putting them into a game, shows they're out of real ideas. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 62 Joined: 21 Mar 2008 | Aerosmith are an enjoable band. but they're also one of the biggest sellout bands around. or at least they seem to score well in every freaking nightclub where the other pop "music" appears. Which means, they rank as high as mr brightside and his single tone bass guitar. In short, they're ok. No need for them to have a game, but I suspect heavy endorsment fees going from aerosmith to activision. |

I lol'd. Would've preferred a 'retro' GH over a one-band game with a few other bonus songs tossed in. Imagine a game with The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, etc. in it. I'd definitely buy it... if it comes out for PC, at least -.- |

I believe it was called Generation X, I played many times growing up :). You're ammo wasnt cd's either, just the special weapon. The arcade machine had a huge machine gun you held that shook and everything. It had a special button on the side you'd push to fire a cd at it when fighting bosses and what not. It was also an incredibly violent game for the time haha. |

This isn't even Aerosmith's SECOND game... because Quest for Fame (which was like Guitar Hero in the 90's) had them as the main band you rocked out along to Aerosmith has now had more games made about them than Michael Jackson and the Spice Girls combined. Anyway, from what I've heard not every song will be by Aerosmith - they'll be including songs that inspired Aerosmith and were inspired by Aerosmith. So it's Aerosmith flavoured rather than Aerosmith devoted. I'll still be going to the shops and buying the PS2 version merely so I can ask for 'Geetarr Heero Air-ro-SMEEEEETH edition"... at least when the price drops to below £20. Preowned copies of Rock the 80s are still going for £26... |
Copy Clerk Posts: 58 Joined: 8 Jan 2008 | Generation X . . . With scantily clad babes you had to rescue from chain gangs in which they limp-wristedly swung pickaxes at digitized rocks. WTF? Putting in songs with minimal guitar just showcases their desire to sell the game not on their guitarist's famous ability, but on the level the songs reached on the Billboard charts. Why guide yourself by talent when radio spin and CD sales can show you the way? |

They already had a game. Revolution X. It was a rail shooter and it was fairly ridiculous. You had a gun with infinite ammo, and a limited amount of explosive CDs for your weapons. You had to rescue Aerosmith from the evil N.O.N. who wanted to do something or another, probably destroy fun or something. |
Muckraker Posts: 272 Joined: 6 Mar 2008 | I say Metallica would be a better choice. Why....they have a huge range (blusy metal, thrash/speed metal, traditikonal metal, orchestrated metal, a country song...wait what?), good difficulty spread (play 2X4 and then play Dyer's Eve.....you got easy and expert right there) and they likly have a larger fanbase (sorry Aerosmith but metallica is 3rd in most albums sold ever). |

Muckraker Posts: 237 Joined: 22 Jan 2008 | yeah this looked like a bad idea to me i personally am not a big fan of aerosmith i mean i don't dislike them but they aren't much to get excited about, that being said it'll probably sell billions and aging rockstars everywhere will try to work out their own personal game deals. and before you know it we'll be playing justin timberlake's "favorite" songs of all time. i don't play guitar hero myself, tried to get into it but really couldn't be excited about how boring it is. i think it's funny almost everyone plays guitar hero and then bitches about the wii reaching out to casual gamers. not to bad mouth guitar hero i'm sure it's oodles of fun i just don't like it much myself, |

OK....decline in quality....yeah St Anger wasn't that great. Sellout....Lars yes, the rest no; cutting hair and wanting to express yourself in different ways is not selling out. Lars was after money so yeah he did but Kirk, James and Jason did not (Rob shouldn't even be considered a sell out since he joined way after the "change"). People are just pissed because Metallica became very popular and the little Britney Spears fans were buying the black album. While that was annoying, it doesn't mean metallica sold out. if you look at every metal band, no matter who they are, they always go through that period of "we're sick of playing the same thing so let's slow this down and experiment" phase. It happened with Sabbath, Maiden, Priest, Ozzy, Megadeath, etc. But everyone forgets that and only focuses on Metallica because it's cool to bash them. And if the new album is everything they promise (and justice For All speed with eastern influences...and both "new songs" from 2006 are not gonna be on it) then I think we may have to say that they are definatly back. Gotta admit the 2007 tours were way better than the ones in mid 90's-06. Though I still doubt 89 will ever be topped. Besides, they are still better than every current metal band today. Sorry but Limp Bizcuit rhyming here with here does not equate to music. Dragonforce can't even play in time together live. Trivium.....OK so Trivium is good, you got that. |
Muckraker Posts: 272 Joined: 6 Mar 2008 | Oh and quick question...are you suggesting that Jason is better than all of metallica? OK...he isn't even a better bassist than Rob. Rob can play pick, fingers and slap very well; Jason can only mainly do pick. While I feel sorry for him for all the crap the guys put him through because he wasn't Cliff, he is not the better bassist. And what happened with that whole Echobrain thing side project anyway? Oh yeah...they disbanded because they stole a song from a band and basically stle their name as well. Wow.....that's quality. By using your guitar hero analogy, there should be a Gitar Hero (notice missing letter) out now that plays the same songs as Guitar Hero. PS: is jason still in Voivod? I havn't kept up on that. |

Amen to that. Hell, if they did a one-band game with any of those, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. |
Paperboy Posts: 16 Joined: 13 Mar 2008 | Aerosmith is a great band. They make up for a good chunk of my music folder. But a whole agme around any one band is ridiculous. Its just an excuse to shove out the same game with slightly different features (in this case different tracks) for $80. Of course there will be a new guitar style that millions will run out and buy even though they already have at least 3 guitars for a 2 player game, and whatever developer bought the rights this time around will make millions. Notice that this is very similar to EA's strategy and that the public will be bored of this game series VERY soon. |

Ok, I can accept that it looks like a good idea for both parties to do this thing, even though I would strongly suggest that Tyler and Perry take their stuff to people who can actually do it right, and make it a Rock Band DLC.
But I just saw an article, which said its got stuff from Dream On to I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing.
Hold on, back right up there.
What the fuck? I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing may be one of the most beautiful things I've heard in my life, but it has zero guitar. And I don't mean zero guitar like some people say Nickelback has, I mean one note, on an acoustic Guitar, played over and over. What the hell is the deal with that? If anything, that should scream Rock Band DLC, to counterbalance the Rap Metal songs people want, which has the bassist, guitarist and drummer going nuts, and the singer, well, not actually doing any singing.
