As much as I freakin loved the first game they milked that cow bone dry making us play the same game again and again. I finished the hurricane packs but i couldnt justify forking out the benjamins for Black. It's one of those "floss myself to death" cases. Also Banjo Kazooie/Tooie, but ive just found out the threequel's in the works too. Its been too freakin long and they were great games. Just hope rare get their freakin acts together and dont release shit like Grabbed By The Ghoulies and such. Oh and on the subject of rare, Conkers Bad Fur Day. Such a unique funny game begs for more. I think im done. |
Muckraker Posts: 237 Joined: 22 Jan 2008 | mortal kombat shaolin monks: great game a sequal would kick ass so long as they added more playable characters with full movesets and fatalities. in a series of games plaqued by mediocrity and shallow fighting this was a true gem. damn, i can't really think of any others at the moment... if i think of them i'll post em. |
Muckraker Posts: 312 Joined: 25 Mar 2008 | A new Jet Set Radio, preferably for PC too (or the DS... but I'd still prefer PC so I can use a gamepad) Err... KotOR 3, of course. Then, hmm... Golden Sun. The developpers claimed the 2 games for the GBA were prologues and only the beginning of it all. There's still a bad guy running out there being a demi-god, and we are to suppose to story is finished? :-/ Also, Unreal 3. Wouldn't mind fighting some Skaarj again. And last but not least... Theme Hospital. And not that shitty wannabe crap anymore. |

Other than that, I would say Chrono Trigger, but I have a feeling that ship has long sailed. And, of course, Planescape Torment (Plenty of room to pick up from where the Nameless One left off). |

You do know that Bioware is working on KotOR 3 don't you? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2875 Joined: 29 Nov 2007 | True sequals can only really be made out of games with isnanely cliff hanger endings. You're all going to hate me when I say this, but I stand proudly by my claims: Jericho needs a sequal. One where you have to go in and find out what hapened to the original teams, including the last Jericho squad and find out where the hell they were... Maybe that would make for a better expansion than a 60 dollar game. Kind of like Ressurection of Evil. |

I'd like to see a sequel to freelancer too, by golly it's like "Firefly" and anything that is like Firefly gets a brownie point. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 3006 Joined: 25 Jan 2008 | Freelancer for sure... I don't care if it's not "Freelancer 2", just another game with the same engine and style of play. Battlefield 1942/Nam need another sequel based in fact not fiction. Hell, more 1942 works, the war was years long, what about some early-war sequel? Kirby. Always need more Kirby. Prey 2, Rogue Trooper 2, and I'd go as far as to say I deeply want Doom4 to be the concept from Doom1+2... Make Doom4 "Hell on Earth" again. I wanna see the Doom universe trying to take over downtown New York. |

Command and Conquer is coming out with a new first person shooter, but it's not going to have any form of "C&C Mode" like Renegade does. Renegade is one of the most fun first person shooters I've ever played, so making their new "Tiberium" game should be the same. Or better yet, just make a Renegade II. What else, hmm. Final Fantasy XI should get a sequel. Hopefully they could make some new graphics and make it PC-exclusive. The problem with the original FFXI was that it's for the PS2, which can't handle any major new things like additional faces, better graphics, or anything like that. And as a way of keeping it equal, they don't add anything new to the other two platforms either. Better graphics, additional storylines, more customization, and faster gameplay would just be amazing. Dark Cloud should come out with a sequel. It wouldn't be a true sequel, as it has different characters in 2 than it did in 1 (like Final Fantasy), but it would be awesome to have. Give it a few new characters, some weapons, and a wicked new storyline and you'd have yourself a game of the year. I'm really anticipating Red Alert 3, Grand Theft Awesome 4, and that new Duke Nukem game. I hope they're as good as their prequels. |

But what I would seriously like to see is a _true_ sequel to the original Unreal and Quake 2. Well ok, Quake 4 is a "kind-of" sequel to Quake 2 according to id, but come on. It's really nothing like it. And I think i've never played anything like the original Unreal. The atmosphere you got with the awesome soundtrack combined with the exotic and believable universe(well it was back in 97/98?) |

A brilliantly-written vampire RPG set in contemporary California, with next-gen graphics and about 90% less bugs than the original? Yes mommy. Heck, make it a MMORPG. At this point I'd do about anything for a rationally constructed post-modern urban vampire simulator with a big toe in contemporary pop culture. You know, other than program it myself. Because I can't add. But anyway. Get with the blood-drenched hip-hoppie coolness already. |

CCP, Who make EVE Online recently merged with White Wolf, creators of the Vampire: The Masquerade setting, and are making a MMO based on the company's properties. That said, the MMO will focus on Vampire: The Requiem, a similar, but different product line. |

Paperboy Posts: 37 Joined: 24 Apr 2007 | Some great additions to the thread. I forgot about Kid Icarus...and as well, that reminded me of another game series: I wanna see an Actraiser 3. One of the most beautiful games on the SNES, graphics-wise, with some of the best music I have ever heard on a cartridge definately deserves a sequel. Or Nightmare Creatures, although I may be one of the only ones in the world who wants to see it. I'm really waiting for Bionic Commando and the Golden Axe games to come out to see what they did with them. If they end up being a great hit, maybe more retro games will get remade. As far as Bioware and KOTOR 3, I wasn't aware that it was beyond rumor and hearsay. Hopefully they go back to what made the first one better than the second and actually release a finished game...stupid Lucas Arts... |

Paperboy Posts: 40 Joined: 18 Jan 2008 | To agree/disagree with some previous posters, and to add my own: Perfect Dark, Freelancer, and Golden Sun need good sequels, but I don't think FF: Tactics really needs one. I mean, the story was concluded nicely in the first one. I would like to see another game in the same setting (Ivalice with no monster-people nonsense). Shadowrun for the Sega Genesis. It really kept the feel of the original game intact, but I would like to be able to chose my race. |

Abso-fucking-lutely! I'd also love for Xenogears to get a true prequel; Xenosaga was cool, but really pales in comparison.

Here's a topic for discussion in light of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, and the current sequelitis that plagues the gaming industry.
What games do you like deserve sequels that are "true to their nature". ie. This Crisis Core seems to be well received "prequel" for FF VII, which was done years ago. So what games that time has forgotten, or that the developers have determined are "not worth it" should have sequels made for it, even though if done well, they would make for great games in today's environment.
I'll start with a few of my picks:
KOTOR III - With so much outcry for it, and with a disappointing second game, a third KOTOR should have been made, and yet still we wait for it.
Diablo III (NOT World of Diablo) - Even though I think they are working of D3, it would be nice for it to see the light of day being a sequel and not a cash cow.
Freelancer 2 - Oh how Freelancer was fun! And modable! And multiplayer! Just give me better of the same with a new story, and I'd be happy.
Baldur's Gate 3 - Since Neverwinter Nights was a mild disappointment compared to these...
Final Fantasy Tactics 2 - these "Advance" versions don't exist, at least not in the same realm of depth and story as the first...
There's a few to start...
