Sorry about the lack of text, it was deleted as i posted, i cant be bothered to write it up again, but basically i was wondering if there was a large enough market for the most progressive shooters on the ps3 for the console to continue delivering.

Do japanese gamers play unreal and cod?

To whom are resistance and killzone aimed at?

We have allready seen the lack of effort on the part of Valve and Sony to get them developing for the ps3, is this due to the lack of a market?

Yes. CoD4 is probably the most sold game on the PS3 but in my opinion Elder Scrolls: Oblivion is working best on it.

I bought Kane & Lynch on the PS3 and I like it. I'm used to the Hitman series on the PS2 so the shooting mechanics are normal for me. Most people that have a problem with Kane and Lynch are complaining about that.
Warhawk is also popular, and I must add that it's very exciting. It's great fun to jump in and shoot other players for 10mins - 1hour.

To add to this, Resistance: Fall of Man is still pretty popular since launch overall, what with 2 million sales for all I know.

indecisivegamer I highly doubt Japanese gamers give two shits about shooters, games like COD and unreal are aimed at western gamers. Why do you think that the 360 can't seem to make any head way in Japan? Why do you think every three seconds there is a great Japanese hope on that console? (Though I do suspect people might buy some of the games Atlus will be releasing for it this year.) As far as the Western market goes there is room for improvement when it comes to FPS' on the PS3 but I think that things will get better as Resistance 2 is released and possibly Killzone 2 and Haze get released as well. The fact of the matter is despite all of the Valve dick riding that goes on, on this board niether Sony nor Microsoft need Valve to develop games for their console when they have got Epic doing games for both consoles that people actually like. I would much rather play Unreal on the PS3 than play a half assed port from EA/Valve, and I would much rather play a Valve game on the PC where it belongs than play a port that apparently did not even get basic testing so that one is subject tto a bug that should be blatantly obvious if the QA team wa doing their job in the first place.

Shooters don't sell for shit in Japan. Take for example Metroid Prime 3: It shipped in north america seven months before it did in japan. The Japanese version was basically a total afterthought despite the fact that it is a top quality game based on a Japanese IP on a console that everyone in Japan already has. Foreign made anything sells for shit in Japan.

It's why we got Links Crossbow Training first and Japan is getting it soon(ish).

Miyamoto spent much of the interview talking about Nintendo's love of the "hardcore gamer." Interestingly, he sees the upcoming Japanese launch of Link's Crossbow Training as the opposite of the normal Wii strategy -- the first step toward getting Japanese gamers used to first-person shooters.
