If it's what I'm thinking of, I have, and it was BAD. You can get killed by falling acid drops on the ceiling. (Sub-Zero could take an acid spit to the face in MK2 and barely stagger.) |

I loved the first Grandia. It was such a great game. Anyone here ever played Terranigma on the SNES? |

Yeah, this one has been mentioned a few times, which leads me to ask - has anyone actually got on with the combat system? |

I have both of them. In original boxes with manuals and stuff. ^_^ Seiken Densetsu (Secret Of Mana) 3? Never released outside Japan AFAIK. I think I managed to finish it... playing a game where all text was complete nonsense to me was very interesting. I had to invent names for everything and build half the plot myself based on the actions of the characters. Also, this one seems to be mentioned rarely outside Europe: Terranigma. Not the greatest game, but an interesting story. |

Especially for people in Britain as I seem to be the only person in the UK who has both of these games and can still play them on my PS1. I always thought PE1 was better than PE2 even though I liked survival horror better than rpg's... hmmm maybe it was the storyline. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1790 Joined: 7 Feb 2008 | I still can't believe that I am the ONLY one who seems to have played the whole Suikoden Series... am I REALLY the only one? What's wrong with you people! Also it's nice to see someone mention the underappreciated Grandia 1 (2 not so good, 3 okay but hard and stupid at the end) Did anyone else here play SMT: Nocturne? The Shadow Hearts Series? Steambot Chronicles? Hmmm... definately not a forum for obscure JRPG fans, I suppose none of you are looking forward too the Valkyria Chronicles (PS3) or Operation Darkness (360) are you? *sigh* |

What do you mean by that. Anyway, many hated it (the combat), but I think it had to be there to break up the pace a bit. I personally didn't mind it at all.
Yeah, its a game that isn't worth the price of a normal game, just like wii play and geometry wars. But fun nonetheless. |

I used to mock my brother by calling it "Croc: The Last Homo" and it would drive him into fits of rage. I was fourteen so forgive my stupid joke, it was very tasteless, but I was in junior high. |

Yeah, it's hard to stop yourself when you read the title. |

This. Grandia is fantastic, thoroughly wonderful world design, mostly great characters, cool battle system, and fun story (Justin can be slightly annoying, but I'll take slightly annoying enthusiasm over mopey wangst any day, which is why when Square blatantly stole the story of Grandia and put the most annoying videogame character ever in the lead role, it sucked). |

Which game did this? And why? Also, I feel glad that at least two other people in the world hate Mr Pakon as much as me. |

Justin was BRILLIANT! He's one of m favourite ever characters in an RPG. I was put off by the end of the game when he and Feena starting going: "COME, JUSTIN. LET US END IT NOW" is some sort of trance-like politeness. The whole game reminded me of The Goonies though, which is praise in itself for being a bloody good fifty hours of fun! |

Never played it on the console, but have played it on an emulator. Great game with a pretty good story. |

Final Fantasy X is a carbon copy of Grandia's storyline, with a few bits of Grandia II thrown in for good measure, and a complete twat as the lead character. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 848 Joined: 10 Nov 2007 | Also, this thread has made me fire up my PS3 to footle about with Grandia again. And considering when I finished it on the PS1 the game clock was over 350 hours, that could be a problem for my social life... |

I've played the whole Suikoden series and beaten them, including Tactics. I also played every single game you mentioned except for Operation Darkness and Valkyria Chronicles. I love the SMT series. |

Thief:The Dark Project is one of my favorites. It had fan sites, 2 sequels and healthy modding community. Freelancer. I played the crap out of this one. Great game. Black and White. You had to love micro-managing to get into this one. I bet a lot of people gave up on it halfway like I did. |

I freaking loved Psychonats. Such an awesome game. Otogi - Played it. Didn't hate it. I found it was a little glitchy in places though. |

Grandia. Not the sequels, the original.
A JRPG that takes every FF game and leaves them in a ditch with no money. Characters you care about, great story with plot twists I actually didn't see coming, epic battle system and magic system and... ah. Wonderful.
But I hate the President of the Adventurers Guild forever. An utterly minor character that makes ol' Oedipal Sephiroth look well-adjusted. Must kill irritating pervert.
