A new perk would be Kangaroo in the slot 3 perks. Obviously makes you jump higher. I know, it's probably useless but the first thing that came to mind. Remove Extreme conditioning, eavesdropper, or dead silence. I almost never see people use those. Hell, i havn't seen someone use eavesdropper for about 5 months. |

The latter makes it far too easy to simply lob three 'nades and clear out a fortified position. Edit: I have to agree with Jumplion, Eavesdrop and Dead Silence are pretty pointless. No real complains with under-powered weapons, but over-powering is a different story. The emplaced SAWs are massively overpowered: infinite ammo, incredible stopping power and wall penetration. My second is more a game-balancing complaint, but applies to a specific weapon. Not hugely concerned about factions, but I think it would make sense to have a Chinese faction, if only to accompany Chinatown. Admittedly the location is almost certainly not in China, but it seems bizarre that it is contested by the SAS and Spetsnaz. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 90 Joined: 7 Dec 2007 | the XM-8 is no longer in the running to be a military weapon being cancelled in october of 2005. this weapon has been shelfed... perminently. it is at the moment one of those 'future-esque weapons' which almost every game picks up because of its snazzy sleak design and smoothed surfaces which make it look futuristic when infact the weapon is rather outdated by most standard weapons. the XM-8 willnever be picked up by any military force because the weapons it was designed to replace (the G36, and M-16/M4) are being replaced by upgraded models of the M-16/M4. the IAR, M416, and REC7 coming out the XM-8 will be nothing more than intresting idea. things to be added to CoD4? mods to add: |

Why should snipers be the only ones allowed to hide in the grass? Perk to remove - Eavesdrop. I have at times won matches because I heard an enemy walking around near me, but hearing what people on the other team are saying is, for the most part, useless outside of big-league gaming. Weapon to improve - SAW. The iron sights on that thing take up half the friggin screen. Making them smaller would help a lot. Faction - Canada. Just for the hell of it. In fact, I'm changing my perk to add to "beaver toss", in which you pull out a beaver and chuck it at people. It would be like Monty Python And The Holy Grail, only with a beaver instead of a bunny. Don't get me started on how an RPD with stopping power takes 50 hits to kill while a MP5 or AK-47U takes only 4 hits with stopping power. Hell, the AK-U is over powered without the perk. |

You can still make a .50 cal Sniper balanced without making it underpowered, you can still make ACOG scopes balanced without taking off 15% of the guns accuracy. Basically, when this game was being made, they were 'up to date' - but now, I need to start seeing the stuff that I've seen on "Future Weapons" in my games, and REALISTICALLY implemented. and I always thought perks was a stupid idea so I have nothing to add. |

A Sig Sauer? 1 perk to add (Name, slot and effect included) No Tracer (red perk)- Your bullets do not leave tracers when you shoot, but do a little less damage. 1 perk to remove (Lemme guess, Juggernaut) Easedropper - Just doesn't seem to see a lot of use in most games. 1 weapon to improve (Lemme guess again, G3 or Mini uzi) Yeah, I think the G3 could use some improvement. 2 new Factions to add Mossad and Chinese People's Liberation Army |

Beat Writer Posts: 183 Joined: 4 Jan 2008 | Remove martyrdom, it's annoying and bizarre. I can't believe people are saying that Dead Silence and Extreme Conditioning are useless. Silencer plus Dead Silence plus UAV jammer plus whatever = ninja. In certain game modes (headquarters, domination), or even just certain maps, extreme condiitioning can be invaluable. Ideally I would like to see a halfway mode between normal (keep going after being hit with 2 clips from an AK) and hardcore (die from a pistol shot to the small toe). I know bugger all about guns in reality... maybe an auto-shotty with a drum magazine? |

They're all useful in their place, and all fairly easy to overcome if you know what you're doing. I just don't understand why people hate Juggernaut so much. He's not dead yet? Shoot him some more! Weapon to improve: The Micro-Uzi (G3 really doesn't need it.). Just needs a tiny bit more stopping power. Two new factions to add: Chinese People's Liberation Army and Mercenaries. |

Because it's realistic that a gun with 7.62 ammo would OBVIOUSLY do less damage than a 9mm pistol round from an MP5. I agree vehemently with you guys on this. I'd like to see the SCAR-H (the 7.62 version, same rounds as the AK-47) Or the SA-80 |

Yeah--it means after you kill someone you can't run past them/if you kill them up close you have to turn and run away. I feel like it hurts the 'flow' of the game. Maybe they should make Martyrdom pop up an easily seen warning so you can still use it to keep people from running past your body at choke points/allow you to flush enemies out of cover, but make it so that no one ever gets 'stealth' killed by Martyrdom because they didn't hear the grenade drop. Or maybe make it like Last Stand, only give you a C4 trigger (with a charge attached to your body) instead of pulling your pistol. Yeah--that would be much better than the current Martyrdom and actually more accurate to the name. |

I agree with your point of removing Martyrdom, there's nothing more annoying being on a HUGE streak and then you knife a guy and he just blows you up from beyond the grave. However I disagree greatly with your idea that Dead Silence gives no real advantage and that hardly anyone uses headsets for tactical advantage. I do realise you said you had limited experience but when playing clan matches be it in leagues or w/e it's brilliant to have dead silence on with a nice pair of Turtle Beach speakers warning you about anything that moves. For eg. in a clan match I had today a team mate told me exactly where he was through a wall simply coz he could hear him moving. Dead silence prevents anyone hearing you and is very useful for teabagging the last person on S&D while they plant the bomb. |

True, Eavesdropper is undeniably useless because I have never, EVER heard anyone using voice chat for anything useful in COD4. At least in a public game. And even in a clan game, I'd imagine each clan would use TeamSpeak or Vent so they wouldn't give anything away. But Extreme Conditioning certainly has its place. It's most useful when you have a heavy weapon like an LMG. And Dead Silence... come on! If you think that's useless, it's clear you've never played in a small free-for-all game, because I usually do and dead silence is INDISPENSABLE under those conditions. I get the drop on people who don't hear me coming all the time, while listening for other people's footsteps around corners is a crucial element in my situational awareness and gives me warning of coming enemies. As for improvements, I think the MP5 could use a little tweaking, the gun gets knocked around a bit too much considering the MP5 is legendary for having low recoil. This seems to be especially noticeable when it's silenced. Maybe it's just me, but the M4 seems to be more controllable than the MP5 and that's not right. The G3 is fine as far as I'm concerned (although I use it in HC so I can't say if it's imbalanced in any way in normal play). What I would like to see is fire mode selection, the player shouldn't be forced to use the G3 in single fire mode, for example. If anything, it should default to single shot mode, with full auto as an option. In addition, full auto would be recoil heavy due to the G3's full-size cartridge, these two factors would encourage the player to use it in single shot as intended, but wouldn't prevent them from using full-auto if needed. |

The real problem with it is the indicator only pops up once you get within kill range. Either make the grenade have less range and damage, or make the indicator appear at a farther distance. |

The "limited experience", comment was in relation to use of the perk itself, not the game as a whole. Essentially my only use of dead silence has come through the split-screen class with all suppressed weapons. I can see how it could be useful, I just haven't experienced it myself; that was the reasoning behind my comment. If you re-read my post you'll see I commented on you using the perk, not the enemy; I was suggesting that it, should, be quite rare that a kill comes as a direct result of having dead silence. Also my comments on eavesdrop are in relation to open, console games. Obviously things will be different in clan matches, where it could be useful, but in an open team deathmatch I really can't see it being much use. I may be stereotyping about console gamers, but in my experience I find it far less painful to mute everyone with a mic as soon as the round begins. |

Whoa whoa whoa, extreme conditioning is probably one of the best perks on that game, I love being able to run for ages, it just seems so helpful to me. I wouldn't remove or add anything, I'd just mod martyrdom so that you'll only drop a grenade if you have a grenade left, so that grenade spammers with martyrdom can't use it. |

Well, they are useful in their places, but when you put into account that only 3% of CoD4 players (let alone players that play S&D or any other game mode with these, they almost NEVER use Dead Silence. Though, i'm starting to see more people use Extreme Conditioning, it's not completely useless but again how many people really use it? Eavesdropper, however, has no place whatsoever. Unless by some maraculous miracle that your oponents are actually smarter than a brick.

I want to see the MP7 smg, A perk 2 called Double Mag that makes your clip 2X as big, The removal of Martyrdom (everything else can be out maneuvered, but nothing ends a kill streak like a well placed martyrdom.), more stopping power on the M249 SAW, and the Chinese and Israeli factions face off.
