For some reason, when I can't beat a boss, i just leave the game (very frustrated) for a few days (or weeks) and come back and somehow manage to beat the part I couldn't get past.

And example of this is in Jak3, i could not for the love of god beat the pac-man esque level with Daxter and the virus going the oposite direction! So I stoped playing the game, went back and beat it on the first time back.

Wtf? Seriously.

Every game I've started with the exception of Vice city, Arc the lad II, and FF2. I've beaten.

This doesn't include games I have but have not started, mostly AtL III because I want the second story and GTASA, because I play that to blast people to hell.

as for vice city, I cant beat that driving mission very late in the game.

...and FF2....

I'm going to assume you're referring to the actual FF2, and not FF4-renamed-2-in-US-and-elsewhere. In which case, color me guilty as well. Sorry, I'm not fond of a game mechanic where, to level up, you spend an hour beating the crap out of yourself. I feel people should be excused for this one.

@Jumplion - It's not that weird. The best thing to do when you get frustrated with something is just walk away, cool down, and come back to look at it with a fresh perspective. You'd be surprised at the things you missed. That goes for pretty much any problem, not just homework.

I tend to finish most games the first time, but after that I often start but never finish, mainly because in the course of playing through it, I either find a brand new game to play, start replaying another old game (the cycle then just continues) or I just get bored.

Games with awesome multiplayer like Halo 3 I tend to spend hours on the multiplayer then find the single player way too easy, making it seem pointless. Also to me, upping the difficulty takes all the fun out of the killing.

A perfect example of that would be my homework I've just done today O_o

A few years ago I was real bad about buying games, getting a few levels in then getting distracted by another game and end up never finishing them, I had something like 12 gamecube and ps2 games and 5 pc games that I never finished.

The past year or so however I finished almost all the games I buy unless the game is bad, boring or I just don't like the style. I don't care if I spent $60 on the game, not going to force myself to be bored

When I was little(er?) I found I played everygame to the end (never bothered with 100%) and then might replay them or wait patiently for Christmas because at this time I only got two (3 tops) games a year. Because of this I would spend more time playing a single game than I do now.

I have a large amount of good games that I havn't finished, not because I don't like them but because I have a large amount of games that I havn't finished.

Too many games=not enough time to finish them all and seeing as how your list is all recent games I feel like you might be having the same problem as me.

Multiplayer also drags me away from finishing a game.

I can identify immediately why you have so much trouble finishing your games mr.Spider - you have FAR TOO MANY OF THEM. My 4 year old daughter suffers this problem when we put too many toys out in front of her - she gets so confused that she only plays with a few of them for 5 minutes at a time.

Ever heard of being distracted? That's your problem...when starting a good game, stop going to gaming shops, and stop reading gaming websites. Reward yourself by resuming your obvious compulsion to buy every game on the market only AFTER you complete it!

Ha, I used to have that problem. Now I only finish games if I think they're great, which means I've seen very few end sequences. Doesn't bother me any though: most of 'em are fun enough while they last, and I'll probably come back to them in a few years' time anyway.

I've restarted Oblivion a couple of times and I just can't get into it. I suppose it's because, with the exception of LOTR, I've never been into dragons and goblins and all that fantasy jive (I was hooked on WoW for a while, but more for the auction house action than the questing and grinding. Plus I injured my knee while playing it, so after getting my knee fixed I was all like Fuck this shit, and uninstalled it).

Started Stalker, haven't gone back to it in something like a year, may restart it in the near future.

I'm totally hooked on multiplayer FPSes right now (COD4 and TF2 in particular). Aside from Stalker, right now the only thing I'd play instead of those is the next installment of HL2. I have yet to play any game with as engaging a story.

Yeah, that's the one I was referring to. Worst. Leveling. Mechanic. Ever.

the only ones on that list that I'v finished are Half life 2 and episode 1, which are both definetly worth finishing. I havent played most of the other games on that list but I came realy close to beating Oblivion.

I usually finish my games, well at least for the past couple of years I have, mind you I rarely if ever play the campaigns in RTS games but I still count them completed :P

I dont think I've ever played a campaign in an RTS game I always just do a custom game against the computer.

I think I'll just list the ones I've finished rather than the ones I haven't:

-Call of Duty 2

-Portal

-Half-Life
-Opposing Force
-Blue Shift

-Crysis

-Need for Speed Underground 2

I've nearly played through Oblivion twice, but never done all of the side quests nor played through the Thieves Guild.
Close to finishing Psychonauts as well, I'm almost at the top of the asylum now and probably really close to the final bossfight.
Diablo II could probably be there but I've only finished it on Normal. For a normal game that would've been enough but I don't consider D2 finished until I've beaten Baal in hell difficulty.

Hahaha, you're right, I'm like a little ADDH kid in a toystore that can't focus on anything for more than five minutes! Thing is, since gaming is a major hobby of mine, I spent a lot of cash on what is a relatively high-end PC, and I didn't then want to only have 3 or 4 games on it. Now all these unfinished games are leaving me with that annoying "too many loose ends" feeling.

I think I'll just lay off for a few months and finish all these. Well, until Mass Effect comes out.... and Fallout 3... and I still need to get the Orange box....

AAAARGH!!!! WILL IT NEVER END?!?

The last game I beat 100% was No More Heroes.

It's the only game I've ever beaten 100% since Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

I'm REALLY bad for buying and not finishing games, my list is VERY long.

Tales of the Abyss: Got distracted with Persona 3

Shadow Hearts: From the New World: Got bored with later-game dungeon crawls.

Shadow Hearts: Got stuck in a late game puzzle dungeon, lost interest and haven't gotten back to it in over a year.

Xenosaga: Got stuck very close to the end, apparently already saw all the good plot.

Every GTA Game (haven't gotten far in 4 yet): A mission gets to hard or too annoying and I basically lose interest.

Suikoden 3: Got stuck right before the last boss and I have little to NO interest in grinding right now.

Never Winter Nights 2: I bought the expansion and it fucked up my in-game camera settings, I just can't get them right again and it bugs the hell out of me everytime I try to fix them.

Dead Rising: Story mode too hard for all the wrong reasons (Read, artificially inflated difficulty based on time limits), lost interest.

Gears of War: No reason here, just got distracted, I'll get back to it eventually, I think.

Blue Dragon: Inane story drove me mad, sold it.

Wild Arms 4: Inane story drove me mad, sold it.

Kingdom Hearts 2: Stopped after the Thousand Heartless battle, god I fucking HATE Goofy, fuck!

Disgaea: Too much grinding, uninteresting.

Digital Devil Saga 2: Got Persona 3, hope to get back to this eventually.

Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door: Stuck on a puzzle, lost interest.

Super Paper Mario: Don't really like platformers, got stuck at a puzzle, lost interest.

Oblivion: Lost interest after completing the main story.

Okami: Lost interest after killing Orochi

Twilight Princess: Stuck on a Puzzle, this happens a lot.

And there are plenty more on top of that but yeah, there's a bit of my list.

Though I don't feel some games NEED to be finished, pretty much anything without an interesting story for me is justified in simply being fun, what's wrong with putting it down when its not fun anymore?

I normally have problems with add-ons

Doom 3 - completed, RoE - didn't etc. In fact the only add-on i've finished is Throne of Bhaal for BG2. I think its because after such an immersive experience they don't really measure up.

Nothing wrong with putting it down at all, but like I said I personally find that the feeling of unfinished business it leaves lingering round the back of my mind, like having an unfinished book, a bit annoying.

Also, if you get stuck on a puzzle and have tried everything for an hour or so without any luck, what's wrong with a quick peek at gamefaqs just so you can get past that bit and resume the "having fun" part?

I agree. Not just on the point of coming back and being able to completer it after leaving it, but also that mission on Jak3 got me really frustrate because of the way you could only move in one direction. It took me so many F****** trys to get. >:(
