I was an active player of RSV1, though I must admit that I played only the terrorist hunt mode, never even trying the campaign. With the sequel, I have tried to diversify, and have played online (not much) as well as the campaign. I love this game, my favorite being coop terrorist hunt. The experience and reward system were a welcome addition, however, I must make one complaint.

Once you have leveled up all of your ACES, there are no longer rewards available to you that can boost the experienced needed to increase your actual rank. I finished leveling may ACES when I was halfway up the chain of command, and though I play on realistic, it now takes a very long time to level up my rank even though I get 10 points for every kill.

Anyone feel me on this one?

Well, I suppose it adds length to the game.

I feel you. Ubisoft didn't think that through. Although, in my opinion, there were a few things they didn't think through about that game. For example, the weapons with the best stats in the game are unlocked for you at the very start. Not like the stats really matter though, all the guns are almost identical in terms of performance. But the ACES system and the exp. points really helped the game. Unfortunately, like you seem to be saying, you're supposed play the game non-stop for an entire workweek just to have your character wear a beret.

Overall, I didn't like RSV2 very much. The story was not very intriguing and the combat boiled down to looking through a door via snake cam, tagging bad guys, then sitting back and letting your team do everything over and over and over. I actually had more fun in the terrorist hunt missions which seem a lot more fluid and realistic in terms of a firefight.

ShyWinter: I didn't even think about the one point you mentioned! I agree that it seems odd that you play a 4 hour slog to unlock a weapon that doesn't seem to have a noticeably superior quality. I find myself playing both campaign and terrorist hunt with the default weapons.

And there are four sniper rifles that seem virtually the same to me. On the RSV2 website it listed the Arctic Warfare as having a 10-round clip... that would've been cool!
But after 18 marksmanship ranks you unlock a sniper rifle that... looks different?

If anyone can tell the differences in handling between those four sniper rifles I'd love to know.

I never play with the sniper rifles. I find the default weapons to be the best all around.

I dunno, I think they've tried to shift the leveling up more to Online play now, as you'll be playing for ages trying to get to Elite on Terrorist Hunt. If you do play online, play with friends, as you most games you enter has a host with a shit connection or one who can't stand getting mullered and boots you.

It's a good game if you have a fetish for choosing the exact camouflage for your guy or girl. Unfortunately, some of the camo patterns bare only vague semblance to their real life counterparts. In game ACU looks gray while real ACU is pale green; and the real US desert storm camo (called "6-color desert" or "chocolate chip") looks nothing like the game.

Still, every now and then I like to play the game anyway. Even if to justify my purchase of it the day it came out or to remind myself how much I dislike X-play for giving it such a great review.

One thing I must admit I love is that as a former member of the Canadian Forces, I can have my character wearing the same uniform I did.
