Have you ever bought a console just so you could play a particular game?

For example, I remember buying a 360 because of Oblivion, and I'm thinking of buying a Wii so I can 'play' Wii fit.

Discuss.

Well, there was the whole 'OMGZ, I WANTZ HALOZ' craze I went through... luckily, I have other games to keep me busy on my Xbox 360.

One game? No. I bought an Xbox because they seemed to have the games I wanted to play. That is to say Mass Effect, GTA IV, and Fable 2. The best part? I didn't have to sell a kidney, like I would have had to if I had bought a ps3. I seriously have considered a wii from time to time, but I it would only be so my woman and I could play games together. Wouldn't mind a brief affair with the newest Zelda, and a fling with Mario, but money is tight these days and I want a dog more than another gaming system.

Yep. I got an Xbox just to play Onimusha Genma (the Warlords port for the Xbox.) Totally worth it because it's got 40%-50% added and new gameplay.

We may wind up with a Wii if Fatal Frame 4 stays exclusive to that console.

I bought a Gamecube for my wife because she wanted to play Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door. It totally paid off because it later occurred to me that there were a pile of games I wanted to play on it (i.e. RE4, Metroid Prime, Ikaruga) but didn't because I was too busy playing San Andreas.

I saved up for eons to buy (true) a TurboDuo, the successor to the TurboGraphix so I could play Prince of Persia. The sad irony is that a) I never did get around to buying PoP for one reason or another, and b) the company went out of business three months later, leaving me with a worthless console and a huge case of buyer's remorse.

I pretty much got an XBox 360 so I could play Mass Effect, but there are plenty of other games I'll enjoy on it as well.

I've been thinking of selling a kidney to get a PS3 when FFXIII comes out. I doubt I'll be allowed to by the wife though, as I have a 360 and a Wii... and I have a daughter on the way.

I dont' buy consoles for just one game either.. I buy it for atleast three games.

Buying a console for one game is just too expensive. I wanted Oblivion when it came out but, how could I justify paying $460+ for one game.

Now Oblivion, GTAIV, and Ninja Gaiden II. That's more my style.

I hate my Game Cube.

I bought a 360 just to play Mass Effect. Two weeks later, Bioware announced that Mass Effect was coming to PC.

I weeped many tears.

That sucks, man. I have a p.o.s. comp, so I needed to get a 360.

Nawp. I buy based on what I feel has more longevity (i.e. it won't crap out on me at some point because it's a poorly put together piece of shit/has a lot of games out with many more to come). Naturally, the last console I came in possession of was the XBOX 360. I'm sure that I don't have to point out the irony there.

I bought a 360 due to peer pressure. Never looked back, getting Assassins Creed, R6V2, and Orange Box.

I'm with wilsonscrazybed on this one; I got my 360 not for any specific game but because damn near all of the games I really wanted are, or will be, on it.

I remember buying my 360 for Halo 3, like the majority of 360 owners. Thats all I bought it for, one game, it had nothing else that was good. I would say the online is better, but is a bunch of screaming 12 year olds REALLY better?

I bought my PS3 because although it didn't have much games, the games it does have are all unique and really fun to play, like Uncharted Drakes Fortune, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Resistance: Fall of Man, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and Moterstorm. unlike the massive amounts of gritty/realistic FPS titles for the 360... seriously, I am really getting tired of seeing games where the main color is gray and/or brown.

as for the Wii, the only reason I can see myself owning one is for Brawl, which isn't even that fun.
