Alright, this is kind of like your high-school year book, only with videogames. The concept is simple, tell us one or two things about your gaming adventures that you will never forget, be it an insane kill, a cheat code, or some random glitch you found in a game. To start things off, I will always remember in the Lion King game for SNES, in order to get to the cheat menu you had to enter "B" "A" "R" "R" "Y" into the controller.

So, what will you always remember?

  • I will always remember afternoons with a couple of friends, playing the hell out of Donkey Kong.
  • I will always remember the opening of Jak and Daxter.
  • I will always remember the opening of Gears. I will always remember the opening of Halo 3.
  • I will always remember when I got my first 'Killing Streak (10 in a row)' in Halo 3 multiplayer.
  • I will always remember my mad dash to disarm the nukes in COD4, on Veteran.
  • I will always remember my repeated (over and over and over again) attempts to finish 'Mile High Club' on Veteran.

I will always remember deflecting a headshot against a Godlike bot firing a sniper from across the map in Unreal Championship 2. (For the recored it was litterally luck as I had just randomly pressed the "L" trigger to deflect nothing.)

  • My first gaming moments ever: Star Road level 2 on a pre-played copy of Super Mario World for the SNES.
  • Half-Life 2. Pure Gold.
  • Playing flOw and realizing that Yahtzee was right: Flash-based games can be freaking awesome too.
  • Those days when I'd help my brother find all the secrets in Ratchet & Clank. It took us hours to get to that spot so you could break the Dan. Quote me if you know what I mean, guys and gals.

-The Infamous "Light" scene in DMC, 'cause it's so hilariously bad.
-The entirety of everything in "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" because it's so awesome (and I still know where everything is).
-MGS2 because of the (as Yahtzee put it) hilarious fanboy rage, while I enjoyed it.
-My first slo-mo Wall-Run in PoP: THe Sands of Time.
-Much more that I can't be arsed to put.

    - All of Mega Man X
    - One moment in Super Smash Bros. 64 where I had knocked my friend off the stage and he had no chance of recovering. As Donkey Kong, I jumped off the stage, nearing the very bottom of the screen, and just before my friend fell to his death, I hammered him down with one well-placed smash (completely unnecessary of course).
    - Having a run through of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time with 2 of my friends. Good times.
    - My first match of Starcraft online against my friend. He attacked me with a massive army of Protoss Zealots which I barely managed to hold off with my ragtag group of Siege Tanks, Marines, Wraiths, and Goliaths, and then I won because he ran out of resources.

    - Zero's "WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOOOOOR!" moment in Mega Man X4. Zero should have been the one to fill Iris' dark soul with LIIIIIIIIGHT!

I can still remember (and possibly allways will) the advisors in Civ. 2.. That's more or less how I learned english. We'd remember phrases like "Give me more soldiers your majesty, so we can sheet our swords in the beating hearts of our enemies" or "We need more soldiers sir, any country can whoop our army as it stands" and go to our parents and get them to translate for us.

also more or less all the sounds of troops moving around in heroes 2 (I think i can even still name all the factions and all the units and what tier they were... we played that game so much... ah... good times)

    - renting Silent Hill and playing it alone on a bleak winter day. Survival horror was never the same again. Neither were hospitals.

    - Baldur's Gate - my first real experience with D&D.

    - walking up the stairs to the attic of the abandoned asylum in Thief 3 and suddenly loud, violent knocking ensues. Scared the crap out of me.

    - watching the intro to FFVI with my dad. First JRPG I ever played I think.

FF7. Stand alone, own category here.

MGS series. Ah.... breaking necks and popping caps. Still excellent to this day.

Finally finding a copy of Futurecop LAPD and Nuclear strike and playing them again and again.
The harrier and A-10 in Nuclear strike. Beautiful.

Company of heroes on expert difficulty, wehrmacht veruses brits (me wehrmacht) and winning. Boy, but them Koingistigers are EVIL.

Playing COD4, and realising that FPS games were still worth playing after all.

God of War, for being so evil.

-Like Wolfdemon59 said: the Sega scream, I still make it to this day.
-Cheats that make no sense, I think it was one of the Age of Empires games, possibly the first one that had PepperoniPizza as a cheat, ok, now I think of it it may have been for food, not that unrelated...
-Playing the demo if Half Life and being scared out of my wits by the head crabs in the training level... Still hate them.
-Watching my mate play Silent Hill, in the middle of the night, then walking home, alone, in the dark...

    Edit:
-Seeing Oblivion for the first time (I hadn't been exposed to the Elder Scrolls before this) and thinking 'I have to own this'

...standing at an X-Men stand-up machine in Kennywood Park, Pittsburgh, PA, with three of my friends on a middle-school trip and beating Magneto at the center of a cheering throng of pimply teenagers. For one brief, horribly nerdy moment, we were the Defenders of All Creation and lauded as heroes. Then someone suggested skee ball and the moment was lost.

-Completing COD4 on veteran,(plus mile high club) it's much harder than halo 3 on legendary.
    -Silent Hill at night.
-Completing RE1 as Jill, then Chris in a mega RE1 session over 2 days.

-I can never forget Vector-man for the genesis and the code to reconfigure vector-man into a cursor and simple scroll through levels was C, A, left, left, A, C, A, B or CALL A CAB.
-Playing Counterstrike on Miami and charging down the main hallway with an empty M-4 and a knife in hand at some poor freshly perforated terrorist hiding behind an overturned filing cabinet. As he took cover and reloaded I had just enough time to haul ass to him, leap over the filing cabinets and stab him squarely in the top of the skull.
-Grandia II was the first jrpg that I really really enjoyed, and I still love it. Except the ps2 version, they managed to muck that up somehow.
-Last and most certainly not least was the first time I saw and got to play Super Mario 64. Awesome.

AVP 2: the time I single-handedly slaughtered the entire marine team on Evac just cos I was lucky enough to meet them at a corner.

Tabula Rasa: As I comment to my long-time gaming buddy (who I don't actually know.) that the direction we're heading in looks like a cliff, and he replies "Yeah, it do-ohh shit!" as he hurtles to his death. And the despondent comment a moment later "my forward key got stuck."

    EvE - my first podkill/pvp.

-Beware Oblivion is at hand: Turok 2. Best cheat code ever.

-When I was little I was so scared of the game Maniac Mansion that whenever my mom played it, I had to hide under the table.

Going over to a friends place and basically sitting there taking turns playing FF6 all night. It's lame but it arguably changed my life, I'd never seen anything like it before. I didn't actually get a chance to beat the game until years later when Final Fantasy Anthology was released.

I'll always remember Jowy's betrayal, and Nanami's death in Suikoden 2... Mostly because I was close to tears at those times.

When i killed Jowy, I had tears in my eyes. No joke.
Best game ever, is Suikoden 2.

Let's see..... Oh yeah... Leveling up so I could defeat Emerald Weapon (i had beaten Ruby) in FF7... Then my memory card got wiped..... I've raged ever since (that must have been somewhere between 2000-2001...)

    And the Sonic cheats:
Sonic 1: Up+Down+Left+Right for the Level select,
    Up+C+Down+C+Left+C+Right+C for the Debug mode.
    Sonic 2: 19, 45, 09, 17 (sound test) for the Level Select,
    4, 1, 2, 6 (i think) for the Super Sonic cheat....

    Ahhhh the memories...

EDIT: Oh! And Tales of Phantasia!... and playing 4 player Battle Mode in Mario Kart 64... Man... too many games to mention... just too many...

Wizardry: Tale of the forsaken land. Ugh... That was a HORRIBLE game, really. You can't imagine a game this bad. Seeing on my shelf still makes me cringe...

That and sneaking to my friends house in the middle of the night, going in the back door, carrying my copy of GTA3, His mom had forbidden him to play it after she saw the violence. And i swear i actually did this... Although we had to play it on mute, it was still my best gaming experience.

Tank races on Micro Machines on the mega drive(aka genesis). Also throwing C4 at people in COD4 as they run towards you, only to have it blow up in mid air and take out four people.

*pretty much the whole megaman x series. (except for the 3d ones, of course)

*Once in halo 1 when I was playing with a friend and I was able to shoot two people out of a speeding pelican with a fuck mothering plasma pistol.

    *shadow of the colossus.

    *the god of war games.

    *portal.

*what my friend was like while playing portal for the first time. (never have I heard him laugh that loud)

*Megaman legends 2 on the playstation 1. (I think it must have been one of the best games I played on that console)
