Red Orchestra is by far the funnest game to play while drunk imo, and everytime I've done that, I still ended up near the top of the score board. I guess it made me more daring or "brave" in the game. It felt like I was better than average, too. But RO doesn't require a ton of reflexes, unlike CoD. Pwned by an inebriated guy. Playing against players who are equally good or better though, like in a clan match or something, probably isn't a good idea. So it really depends on the game or the players you're up against (in multiplay). |

So much so that I was accused of cheating when I took out everyone on the opposing team using only an M4 Shotgun and then claiming 3 headshots at long range using a MAC10 in the subsequent round. (On the Aztec map). |

As far as fast paced games that demand quick and dead-on accuracy (like say FPS's) I say getting shitfaced is not gonna help at all. It's been pretty much scientifically proven that reflex-time and quick response deteriorates with the level of alcohol in your blood. For fun times though you can try out quick-paced racing games with a steering wheel while being drunk. It's pretty fun. On a sidenote, I did try playing videogames when I was on medicative morphine for an injury I sustained. It didn't work out at all. I couldn't stare at the screen for more than half a second before getting completely dizzy and uncoordinated. It was impossible for me to use the computer, even when I was clicking stuff on the desktop. It was like throwing darts with your toes. |

We found 3 other dudes, and did a match versus another set of 5 dudes. I can't remember the result, but I can sure-fire remember that I did some ridiculous stuff (Random headshots on people sneaking around, through walls - and the like) and then also remember that I shot my teammates several times by accident. |

I also remember it all, even the embarrassing bits, such as hugging the Arbiter for twenty minutes while telling him he was my best pal in the whole wide. |

Singstar is hilarious when drunk. In fact I bet there are few people who have even approached this game unless they are a) drunk or b) trying to impress their girlfriend. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 102 Joined: 1 Jun 2008 | I have only been drunk a few times, but from the experience I can say that I would probably have no concept of how to make the character work due to my ailing memory between the controller button and the screen. I can say this with certainty as, to test myself at one time, I attempted to build an 800 piece lego pirate ship while drunk. I held the piece, looked at the directions, looked at the ship... Looked at the directions, looked at the piece again. It was near impossible to hold on to the memory of how to solve the even inanest of puzzles. On another occasion I was so drunk that I could not figure out how to get the key in the door, and ended up falling asleep holding onto the key, which was successfully in the door nob, but the door remained locked. So yeah, if I were drunk and somehow managed to get my hands on a controller or a Wiimote, I probably would not get far into turning the thing on before laughing like an idiot and dropping into a deep sleep. |

Muckraker Posts: 288 Joined: 9 May 2008 | Played some Wii Golf when I'd been drinking-driving was fine, but took me many many shots to putt stuff in, although surprisingly I could still catch the Wii remote when thrown at me...most of the time :P |
Beat Writer Posts: 139 Joined: 1 Nov 2007 | Playing game drunk is fun, but i doesn't make me better. However, 1 or 2 beers makes me more relaxed, which really helps if I'm really pissed off with a level. If I get stuck on one part of a game for too long I just go away, have beer, come back with another and pause every now and then to take a drink. I find my aims more steady, and I don't get fustrated as easially. Its a good tactic if your having a mad gaming weekend. Also, playing the wii with mates drunk is just hilarious. Though I did break most of my mates stuff and his toe when playing wii at his birthday party. And then I slept round another mates and woke his mom up because I kept pointing and laughing at a bowl of grapes...I don't know for the life of me why. |

No you're not, drinking a couple beers loosens my muscles, makes me less uptight so I can play smoothly instead for jerking my gun around the screen like a paranoid little girl. It also gives me more confidence in doing some things I wouldn't normally do when gaming sober, and then they usually succeed as well. All other types of games like RPGs and RTS are already lower paced so you're not as uptight or they just require too much thinking, so either we're both freaks of nature or it's just natural (wow, the logic..) |
Paperboy Posts: 50 Joined: 11 Apr 2008 | i don't get why you would be playing videogames when drunk. It's only fun to get drunk at parties, not by yourself |

Press Junketeer Posts: 450 Joined: 14 May 2008 | My friend Bryan was decent at Halo, but for some reason would kick all of our asses when he was drunk. And we had a professional playing with us. Tyler actually got paid for kicking asses in Halo, and Bryan's drunken escapades would even slaughter him. And this wasn't just once, it was every single time he was drunk. The thing is that Bryan's so hyperactive when he's sober and drinking calms him down significantly and gives him a lot more focus. Logical or not, it pissed the lot of us off to no end. |
Muckraker Posts: 331 Joined: 11 May 2008 | Drunkard Gaming is absolutely hilarious at times, and surprisingly yielding with some games. I don't remember any of it, but my friend said I beat Nineball in AC Ninebreaker, AND that I did it with relative ease... Can't remember a damn second of it though. |
Paperboy Posts: 20 Joined: 3 Jun 2008 | We see a common thread: performance in nearly all games is increased with a low level of inebriation. The question is... why? Perhaps, and I'm truly guessing here... I posit that ethanol, by inhibiting the function of the brain, mimics this effect. I don't know enough neuro-chemistry to state this with any certainty, but I believe that alchohol actually acts on neurons in a manner similar to the natural dendrite atrophy patterns. (Right? The affect on the calcium action potential causes the degradation, and prevents the construction of, synapses... right?) *********** This doesn't mean that it's a good idea to drive while intoxicated. Driving is a low-risk-if-you-don't-do-something-stupid skill, whereas games are a certain-loss-if-you-don't-take-dangerous-risks skill. In other words, the last thing you want to do when driving is to treat it as a game. |

Anonymous Source Posts: 4 Joined: 9 Jun 2008 | I managed to drag my PS2 out of my room, set it up and then proceed to play the heck out of all my other friends who were only half as drunk as I was. Then I got shown up by some daywalker who barely even played before, and still kicked my ass on every level we played....... Also I did pretty well on SSBB while under the influence of two drugs. OF course I usually play as Zelda, so read into that what you will. |

Anonymous Source Posts: 5 Joined: 12 Jun 2008 | Usually, my gaming skill goes to hell for FPS games such as Counter-Strike and CoD4 when I'm drunk, but on the rare occassion I'll do just as good, if not better than usual. I scrimmed on CS with my friends clan a few nights ago drunk and I clutched the round, drunk, the other team didn't hear the end of it. :) As for games like WoW...I find my char hitting on the ladies for some reason when I'm drunk...sad...I know...;) |

You are not alone. I think as you get more drunk, you get more into the game. Therefore, you actually avoid death as if it were really about to happen. Either that or alcohol is manufactured to create super soldiers |
Beat Writer Posts: 136 Joined: 13 Mar 2008 | I become the Blood Master of Killing People in RTS games when I'm drunk. I have no idea why; the less I remember, the more skilled I seem to be. Furthermore, the most fun I've had playing an MMO has been done while I've been high out of my hollow, googly-eyed gourd. City of Villains and pot mixes so very well. |

Paperboy Posts: 18 Joined: 15 Feb 2008 | When wasted I play the freeplay version of the level in Episode III of Lego Star Wars where Vader is created. If you play it as Jar Jar and "accidentally" double-flip him into the lava pit to watch him get respawned before "accidentally" doing it again, four hours of Gungan ass-kicking just flies right by. The score for that level is always abysmal, but my mouth hurts the next day from laughing so much. UT variable gravity levels seem to have been designed with cannabis in mind, as after two spliffs I know guys who turn into zen masters capable of picking off players from miles away whilst in mid flight. I just end up giggling a lot. |

If you think that being drunk improves your gaming then your not really drunk, a couple of drinks can improve things, we call this the two point peak when playing pool in the pub and sometimes even at twice that you can be pretty sharp but get to the stage where you are falling over the sofa and seeing 2 or more screens when you try and focus then I guarantee your gaming will take a turn for the worse.
