It's not even that. It's like a 400HP pickup with a busted transmission and clogged fuel lines compared to the corvette. The edge didn't just come from a dedicated graphics chip, the N64 was woefully designed for 3D games.
As was a 2-ton pickup for racing. I think we are in agreement that as far as 3D performance goes the PS1 was a superior machine. The only point I was trying to make was if you break it down to the base specs, the N64 had more raw processing power. |

Some of my other friends accross the world have an N64 or an SNES and if they have some good games then it's a blast to play with them. |

fix-the-spade:
ChristianxKrupps: lets put it this way
does playstation have
legend of zelda? destruction derby? Super Paper Mario? pokemon stadium? goldeneye? conkers bad fur day? and a bunch of other games i cant remember but are better by far?
no. it doesnt because sony should stick to making tv's and speakers
Just to counter balance that a bit. did the N64 have:
Crash Bandicoot (failed harder than Sonic) Metal Gear Solid (Metal Gear was on Nintendo first, so ha!) Colony Wars Gran Turismo (what fun is racing without the red shell?!) Tekken (yawn) Syphon filter Spyro The Dragon (hmmm, would I rather play Banjo-Kazooie, or Sypr-ahaahhaha....can't even finish that one without laughing) Final Fantasy (again, on Nintendo first) Alien Resurrection (whoopidy-do) Grand Theft Auto Warzone 2100.
There we go, fixed that up for you. Oh, and to add to the list of awesome N64 games:
- Shadows of the Empire - Mario Kart 64 - Super Mario 64 - Donkey Kong 64 (just for the awesome theme song) - Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Twooie - WWF No Mercy (I don't care, it's the best wrestling game EVER! I drove across town and paid $60 to get this bugger.) - Pokemon Snap (actually really fun) |

Crash Bandicoot (failed harder than Sonic)(Crash BAndicoot was awesome, he did not fail at all, just milked slightly less then Mario Metal Gear Solid (Metal Gear was on Nintendo first, so ha!)(yes, but was MGS on the N64, or any MG at all?) Colony Wars Gran Turismo (what fun is racing without the red shell?!)good, simulated fun that's what! Tekken (yawn)(so opinionated that i can't stress it enough) Syphon filter Spyro The Dragon (hmmm, would I rather play Banjo-Kazooie, or Sypr-ahaahhaha....can't even finish that one without laughing)(maybe i'd rather play Spryo the Dragon instead of Bajo-HAHAHAHAHA, can't finish that without laughing either0 Final Fantasy (again, on Nintendo first)(can't argue there} Alien Resurrection (whoopidy-do)(Yup, i'm so glad you're happy for us! :D) Grand Theft Auto Warzone 2100.

Wow, only 2 pages and this is turning into a war already. tsk tsk
I thought you were all more adult than this, in this past MONTH along we've had a PS3 vs. Xbox360, PC vs. Consoles, and now a PS1 vs. N64.
You should all be ashamed of yourselfs. |

Then add MGS and Gran Turismo and you have a halcyon age in gaming. When I was in uni my group house had a choice between watching TV and playing soccer on the PS1 and we usually chose playing soccer. My uni mates still reminisce fondly about playing soccer for 8 hours straight and having our arses handed to us on a plate by metal gear rex. The N64 was okay but most of the games on it are the sort of thing I would have enjoyed if I were 7 years old. |
