MGS4: I'm thinking of changing systems for this game and other exclusives. Is it really a good idea?

Well i got to thinking today.I love my 360 i really do. But MGS4 a very good game like. If Cod4, Splinter cell, And bioshock(give or take mostly i'm talking about the nice story) Had groupsex and the perfect baby came out.

So I have the money current to switch from microsatan(i didn't make this up someone else did) to sony's expensive call girl the ps3 and getting MGS4. But is it really worth it? I would have to trade in all my games and what not(Thats about 20 which are all 360 games) my 360 and putting in 120 american $. Now i have played the worth out of 70% of my games. I think i could get a little bit more out of them give or take but some (about 20%) i just dislike bad purchases whatnot.

Now if i were to get a ps3 i would not buy games that i got on the 360. I would go about buying the multi-platform titles that i was going to buy this year and whatnot.

But is it really worth it? Would the better tech and exclusives make a purchase of a ps3 a good idea?

im a sony person myself so im gonna say go for it
again because im a sony fan i only really follow the exclusives for ps3 so from my point of view i would still say go for it because from my knowledge there really isn't a lot of ground breaking or really anticipated games for the 360 besides gears 2 which doesn't matter to me cuz i really didn't like gears 1
fable 2 looks promising though
although between MGS4 and Fable 2 i'd have to say MGS4 all th way

Yeah fable 2 is whats going to hurt when i switch. Plus i don't really like frat boys so i would feel better if i did not buy gears 2. So i'm trading Fable 2 and gears 2 for resistance 2(Gears of war 2 like) Killzone 2(again like gears of war) I would get MGS4(a great game) 8 days(looks great) a better farcry 2 i'm guessing and whatnot. But would it really be worth trading my xbox 360 and 20 games to a evil company named gamestop lol?

Ugh, that is not a deal worth making.
I'm a huge fan of all the MGS games, (especially MGS3), but when I played 4, it wasn't the amazing blast of fun I expected it to be. Now don't get me wrong, it is a great game, yet it is pretty short (15-20hrs) and it is very easy to get almost everything in the game. Also, the PS3 just doesn't have a strong enough line up right now to support a full-on console switch. The 360 has plenty of really exciting titles coming out for it, and I think you should really think about this instead of making it an impulse buy. MGS4 is definitely worth the $70, but not worth a console switch. It's just not groundbreaking.

Well allow me to sum this up for you. Both systems are ok. Both have their own lineup of games, really it comes down to cost and personal preference, I personally am buying a PS3 and Wii to play alongside my 360 so I can actually back up the phrase hardcore gamer. If you are actually asking "Would the better tech", then incase you haven't heard you can install an operating system on the ps3, which really goes to say a lot about Sony. Versus Microsoft, who would kill you if you ever did such a thing to their money machines. In my opinion the ps3 is really powerful, but doesn't have enough games. However the quality of the games they do have is tremendous(Metal Gear Solid 4, Bioshock(I believe), Call of Duty 4, and a few others I am not really paying any mind to at the moment).

Yeah Yahtzee really talks about how the quality of games on the ps3 will be better for the most part since it will cost millions of dollars more in the "console rundown"

Be careful of what you say because someone would probably be dieing to prove you wrong and give you a whole opinionated list of PS3 vs. 360 exclusives.

If there really is no option other than selling your console and games (besides, lets say, saving up the money?) then i suggest that you DO NOT do that.

I love my PS3 and MGS4, but I sold 60% of my PS2 games to get my Wii and i'm pretty disapointed with it and i do miss some of the games i sold.

I truely suggest that you do not sell your whole console and 70% of your games for one console and one game. If it can't be avoided and you really want to play MGS4 the best option is to save up the money and get a job (or better paying job) for risk of missing your old games.

Yeah you are pretty much correct i would miss some games but i woudn't die. And i'm not really losing much. Give or take the exclusives. Like i said i have 20 games about 10 are bad buys and out of those 10 left i have played 8 to death and loved them every minute. Haven't finished ET:QW to the most i want but i think i might trade to my friend for carry around cash.

So really the games i have since i'm a serious gamer played to death for the most part every single game. And onl CoD4 has been making me want to get on xbox live recently. I might miss my freinds on xbox live but then again i only care about 10 of them so its not really bad.

And its not like these games will make more money if i hold onto them... and its not one game and a console. Like the multi-platiform games like merc 2 and fallout 3 i would buy anyway but now on a ps3.

No xbox live service to pay saves me 60$ a year so thats nice. So to summerize i would miss some games but then again i'm not going to play them again and a ps3 has more exclusives that i like anyways.

So how about some peoples views on ps3 preformance vs the xbox 360?

EDIT: This is not a impulse buy. My 360 is destined to break again or eat another disk(It screwed up my Cod4). Sure microsoft will fix it but do i really want something that was built to break lol? And i have been thinking a lot lately and since i have been bored with my games a lot lately (like i said my Cod4 is the only one i've been playing lately)

Then i suggest selling the games you don't want (depending on how much you get for them and your current cash) and save up some extra cash to buy either the bundle or the system and game seperatly.

Or if that's not enough, then i guess you could sell your system and the rest of your games for it.

I do value you your opinion i really do jump. Anyways like i said i would like some views on ps3's preformance vs 360 from some of those hardcore excel sheet readers.

Just so you know jump i was going to buy a ps3 which comes with a dual shock 3 i think, and MGS4 and probably a USB mike. The bundles really over expensive the blutooth mike or whatevers over sensitive>.>

I still regret selling off my old Megadrive and PS1 and PS2!!!!

I should have kept them and all the games. Now I have to hunt around for working emulators and games instead to get my retro fix on.

So long story short, get the money somewhere else and have both consoles.

Hold up a liquor store or something. It's worth the risk. :P

I'm not much of a retro guy::P. and yeah getting the money else where would be insane. I can't get a job yet and only have 120$ so yeah thats a lot of low-paid work to get another 300-400$

Christmas and summer work. I got quite a few cheap games in the mix so i only paid around 12 full priced games and yeah i could cut grass in the summer*which i am* But that would take until my birthday to be able to buy it

You have my sympathies. Having said that, I haven't scratched the money together for PS3 because although I can get the console now, I don't want it without an HDTV. If I'm getting one, I'm getting the whole experience! :)

Yeah i'm shooting for a 720p tv for christmas too. And probably surrond sound some time in the near future. So my plan of action i think will be to buy a ps3 and work over the summer cutting grass and stuff to buy bf bad company or mercs too or maybe not bad company but fallout 3 and yeah go from there.

EDIT: And another reason i'm switching is i will have to buy a blu-ray player attatchment some time to play really big games like MGS4. So i'm just prepping myself with a tank of a console instead of a grunt i guess..

It's almost always better to wait a bit, go all out and get the stuff you really want rather than a half-baked version so I'm with you there!

Yeah your half right.. But then you won't have much to shoot for then :P. And i doubt there will be a ps3 pricecut unless its around christmas. And that gamestop bonus is really sweetning two 360 games 10$ plus there store credits=100$ more then if i traded them all in without it.

Yes and No - the PS3 is a fantastic system, I've played all systems and I own a PS3 and a Wii and the PS3 is clearly the best console on the market - but you've already got a 360, and if you've played your games to death, trading in the games is a good idea (sell on e-bay though) - but keep your system, I don't know your situation but you'll have to do a lot of your own research, check out games lists and such - but ignore the naysayers about the PS3 since the majority is stuck in the past with the whole "NO GAEMZ!" and "It's too much and blu-ray suckz!" (the downside of blu-ray though is it's not as widespread so you'll still be renting a lot of DVDs - but if you can get the blu-ray copy, you won't hesitate.)

Would getting the PS3 for MGS4 be a good idea? Well, MGS4 is a hell of a game, it's hard to say no, but, in general, a system for one game isn't good, but you already mentioned that you'll be playing more than just one game. Also, most are multi-plat, and at least console multi-plat so the 360 won't be a big loss - but it's nice to have a lot of systems, and we don't want you having regrets.

Get a PS3, you won't regret that though, just, try your best to keep your 360, IMO it's crap and I'll never get one, but I can't deny that it's got some nice exclusives.

Yeah i will try to keep it i guess. Or try to sell it to my brother so i could take it from his room and just play it myself.:) And yeah most of my games won't sell for much on ebay. I think the almost perfect condition of my halo 3 limited edition could get me a few bucks though. Going to check that right now.

Now that i did the math with a little game rates luck i could buy a ps3 and mgs4 and keep my 360 aslong as i get 7-8$ for my shitty games and i could borrow like two twentys from my mom to get a headset and to top off mgs4 if i trade in my broke in wireless controller i think

EDIT: I could hit the trifecka because i think my mum might buy a wii one day lol. So looks like i could ask my mum for a 50 and then i might have all three consoles one day:O

I'd say don't do it unless you really, REALLY like the Metal Gear games. Even then I say it's a bad idea to get rid of the 360. By all means get a PS3 and go nuts, but I've never been a fan of selling one console to get another (hence I have a massive stash of consoles).
I kept my Dreamcast when all my friends were trading theirs for a PS2 and I'm the one laughing now when they bitch about all the games they miss on their DC. True, at the time I had to wait a while to get a PS2 after they all got theirs, but they let me play it and in turn I lent them my DC.
It's as they say, true love waits ;-)

Sigh*
I wouldn't do it. Metal Gear can only last so long. It's just silly to think it's worth losing a good amount of games for just one.
It's why I never traded in my Xbox so I could play UT3 on something that wouldn't randomly die. It's comming to 360, so I'll just pay for XBL Gold for now, and if it sucks too much online, I'll sell my copy, and save up for a PS3 to play for free.
Hell no I won't pay to play a game that's just as shitty on the free version.

Didn't read a whole page? Can't blame you but i did write some of those were short and suck heres a list of some of my bad buys. Overlord(It sucks really..) Vegas2(nice for cash though) Condemned 2 bloodshot,(Read yahtzees review on it and you will understand And battlestations midway(Looked fun but turned out to be garbage). I would miss CoD4 thats for sure but then again MGS4 will make up for it. GTA IV is a nice polished piece of garbage. Assassins creed loses charm after you play through you can show off to freinds though. And bioshocks sorta the same but plasmids=fun. Mass effect total time spent Over 80 hours atleast. Orange box i'm keeping probably with my halo 3 limited edition. Because they probbably woudn't buy it in store :O,Oblivon bah read yahtzees review on it. Crackdowns was fun but again lost charm and it keeps fucking disconnecting me and my freind. And quake wars fun but the graphics are terrible and BF: BC is better i would think.

So before i go mass effect dialouge again i thought i should space ;)

EDIT: I'm a avid gamer I come home I eat i study if needed and then i'm on games for a good 5-6 hours a day

Its not really games shatner, More about randomly dieing when i tryed to play fucking hitman blood money that pissed me off. Plus the ps3 will most defintly last longer, and i'm trying to sever the ties with microsatan. And blu-ray games on the ps3 will be having microsatan bending over taking it up the arse until they finally release a 360 blu-ray attachment thing which will cost like 200$

EDIT FOR LIKE THE MILLIONTH TiME: And i loath 360 people online. Sure i like pussy but i don't really like hearing about penis's. Especially some guys really small penis he claims is big. and i don't have the time to stop playing and muting 80% of the people when i randomly play with online

So, then since you obviously hate the 360 and Microsoft so much why the hell even ask? And I did read. It just had nothing to do with what I was suggesting.

I personally wouldn't do it. Im not saying this because Im a Xbox fanboy or anything, this is just a non byes opinion. while MGS4 does look magnificent but I really think that that is the only game that youll be playing on the PS3 and one game isn't worth a console. sure PS3 has games like resistance, little pig planet, and uncharted which are good games but for every one solid game the PS3 has the 360 has three more. plus the 360 has a promising lineup ahead with games like too human, gears 2, fable 2, halo wars, and probably mass effect 2 at some point.I think youd be getting a better deal if you just kept investing in your 360. I don't say this to bash the PS3 I just dont advocate buying a console for one game. If some one asked the same question but instead they owned a PS3 and were thinking about getting a 360 for some hypothetical game that got great reviews I wouldn't recommend them buying a hole new console ether.

I don't hate the 360. I hate the overlord called microsoft(AKA microsatan) . The overlord pushes games out before they are
