Thinking of getting above game, just wondering whether they fixed the bugs that it shipped with?

I heard it stuttered a lot.

They've put in a lot of work to fix things, but it still stutters from time to time.

Regardless of that though it's still an awesome game.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is one of the most atmospheric, realistic, befuddling game I have ever played. The game just sucks you in. It had a few *cough* glitches when it shipped, but nearly all of them are fixed. I played it again recently, with the patches, and I didn't run into any problems.

So yeah, get it. It has the best ballistics ever. Bullets ricochet, get moved by gusts of wind, dropped by gravity, take time to get really really far away (Don't expect your pistol to get 10000 meters in a split-second). All in all, it is an excellent game.

A friend of mine was talking about this game like it's a gift from god. I was very sceptical so he let me borrow it, it's a good game worth getting but dont beleve the mega-hype if you see any. Good not Excellent.

Its graphics aren't anything for anyone to shout about, but it was never meant to be picture perfect. It is like Lord of the Rings. It isn't the best example of developing skill, it isn't too exciting until a fair way in and it isn't easy to pick up because you are bored. But it is a bloody good game nonetheless. Its atmosphere (literally; its weather effects are great), its free environment, its layout and its various endings are all brilliant. It won't look as good as Crysis, or have the same intensity levels as COD4, but it doesn't need to because everything else is just so good.

Also bits of it are scary. I have played FEAR and Bioshock and neither are as scary as some of the buildings you have to fight your way through just for some documents. The mutants that are invisible (gaming invisible ie not that invisible) suddenly become fifty times scarier when they are rushing at you screaming their head off when you haven't heard anything for ages.

Clear Sky will be worth getting even if you haven't played the first one.

If you already have BioShock and can not play Crysis Stalker is a great choice.

Honestly, I didn't enjoy it. It felt too slow, but it was very atmospheric; I'll give it that.

It also has a sense of progression I've never seen outside of RPGs. At the start you're desperately fighting off packs of wld dogs with your pistol or even knife, while scrounging ammo and medkits, but by the end you can quite easily take down a whole military checkpoint without batting an eyelid.

My problem with STALKER was that it was too easy for hard-core FPS players. At least the fighting was, however the atmosphere was FANTASTIC and made me really start to consider buying more RPG's.

They fixed the bugs AND there's lots of mods that increase performance (Float32 is popular).
