Has there ever been a game in which you can't pass a part of it no matter how hard you try so you just stop playing it?
If so what game and what part?

For me there have been several such as GH3 (because of some of the songs).
But I always eventually go back and pass it, sometimes very easily (the songs I couldn't pass on GH3).

Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet. In the supposed "feat of strength" against Musclefoot, which is required to advance the game.

What it is is rapidly tapping a button to push and enemy into a pit. I just could not beat him.

I believe it was due to a hardware problem as I passed the test before when I rented the game. It certainly wasn't me because I can tap faster than the console can register.

Nor have I, once though I had actually fired the bullet that would have killed the last enemy and the time ran out before it merged with said enemy's skull. Damn was I mad.

One time i got to him i had 10 seconds left(i was so proud)then i shot him in the leg to drop the hostage...."Mission failed. real veterans get head shots not flesh wounds"

I went on live after that to vent rage and havn't attempted it since.

Dog army in penumbra. It just got boring with so many dogs.

And if it counts if you come back then Lugaru which I've quit, sworn a little and walked away from more times than I can remember, and I only got it less than a month ago.

In Sly Cooper, the part near the end of the first level-hub thing, when you're in the sub and you have to shoot the crabs before they steal the chests. I'll admit, I think I only tried it no more than a dozen times, all at once when I first got to the part, but then I just quit the game. I traded it at Gamestop awhile ago.

And I also got stuck in Final Fantasy XII, at the second esper (the ice one). I still have that, and may give it another go sometime.

And one part I thought I would never do, but eventually did, was in Mass Effect: The sidequest to get Wrex's Grandfather's armor. Just kept getting gunned down by that fucker Tonn Actus, but now I dance on his grave! *dances*

After about 90 tries, i said, "Screw it, Here." and handed the controller to my friend.

He beat it first try.

I never beat the Treasure Planet game, because it sucked and I wasn't going to waste my frustrations on a shitty game.
I never beat Sonic Heroes, for the same reason.
I gave up on Megaman X command mission, because I got to a boss I couldn't beat [Some big fat green guy], and I've never been a fan of turn-based RPG's anyway, so I just quit.
I never finished Midnight Club 3, not because it was too hard or I was too lazy, there were just too many missions to bother finishing them all.
Also the CoD4 last mission on Veteran. ...I never played through the main game on veteran, either. A. I'm not that good and B. I just don't think it warrants a third play-through. Hardened is good enough for me.

Sadly, I am stuck in daxter on the stealth level. Stealth levels in games that are not predominatly stealth is just wrong, and generally causes a kidney and a part of my liver explode. I was stuck on the luna battle in ratchet and Clank size matters and in gran turismo 2 I could never get my license...I hate having to get my license in those games. The last level of Hl2:2...I still can't beat it...

Treasure planet the game was actually one of my more favorite games O.o go figure.

Let's see, i gave up on the Pac-Man like stage in Jak 3. The stupid virus always killed me. Went back after a few days/weeks and beat it thankfully.

Try the Splinter Cell games. They are cool because they give you a choice. You can go through the whole game without even knocking anybody out. OR. You can go through the whole game blasting everybody away with guns, grenades, and wall mines (of course that way you don't unlock as much stuff)

People may say Double Agent isn't stealth with missions in broad daylight, but it is. You can still go through the missons without even knocking anybody out and that's the only way to get 100% on any mission on HARD.

Morrowind nuff said...

When I was 9 I mowed my grandmas lawn for 20 bucks and bought Resident Evil 2... After the first "Licker" encounter, I quit. (Beat the game a couple years later though haha)

Act 3 MGS4 "The Boss Extreme" non-lethal, no continues, no recovery items used (except Syringe) - no alerts.

That motorbike ride, auto-aim, and the MK .22 - GAH, it's like you have to unlock the solar gun before you play on this mode, otherwise you are just plain FUCKED.

Oblivion after the level creep factor kicked in and after doing a slew of arena combats I go out into the world and there are those spider demon things everywhere, and unless I blew through ALL my resources they would just never die.

Rastan Saga on the C64. I would always get to this place in the game where you had to jump this chasm and no matter how I tried I could never make it across. I gave up after weeks of trying. Turns out there was a bug in the game that made this gap impossible so you could never get past it.

or, you could turn down the difficulty. You won't level up as fast but you can grind if you really want to.

Another "I Quit" moment: the boss fight with Andrew Ryan in BioShock. jk

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that game. I'm stuck on an earlier mission, though.

Devil May Cry: 3

Fighting Virgil in the final final battle. I *know* it's the end of the game, I just can't bring myself to try it for the 40th+ time.

That and the Zeus sequence in God of War II was painful.

Path of the Mentor...Ninja Gaiden 2...so many parts I probably used over 50 continues on. I vented my rage by punching a husband (a little pillow with weird legs...that's what my g/f calls it anyway) until my fists hurt. Ninja gaiden black was annoying with crazy boss battles on hard...but never ANYTHING like certain parts of mentor (2 million inc. shuriken throwing powered up ninjas 1...Kpet 0). Ironically, my box bricked on me too after that part.

well that is a stealth game, it has stealth machanics, this is a platformer. its like escort missions they jsut don't belong and they're a bad idea. 'tis a shame too becuase I loved this game but it just forced me to putit down and I haven't picked it back up in months

On the last wave just let them come to you, take out the hunters, and blow the snot out of the onslaught.

I would spoil the ending, but i'm not one to do that.

Misery loves company, so they say.

Personally I've found miserable people to be bitter and anti-social.

I beat that.....after about 5 hours

Though what I have not beaten yet is banjo kazzoie. I spent like 3 solid days getting all the notes to get to her quiz at the end, and then if find out there is another bloody door.
So then I got the last notes but before I could get to there, the game froze, and when I reloaded it I had no data.

Lets just say my wall was feeling a little sore that day.

I nearly threw my controller out the window trying to get that achievement. I can't stand achievements that require near superhuman skills to unlock.

An entire episode of Doom on nightmare difficulty. I get a few levels in and end up with such little life that i can die tripping on a rock. At least i can beat Go 2 It without saving. That makes the pain easier.

I actually got the guy in head, and then shot the hostage... about 2 times. Urgh, I did finish it though.

As for not finishing a game, it's more to do with me not liking the game rather then me not being able to finish it. I try and finish the games I have since I don't get games very often. Though, I suppose in Warcraft 3, there's this bit where you have to destroy these Elf watch towers. I just couldn't do it anymore. I didn't feel like it.

i almost quit here as well, i put the game away for almost a year before picking it up again and beating him down into a gristle pile.

I loved these games for their boss fights, on hard mode there are few games in which ive felt as much skill and finesse went into boss fights as the KH series.

That or Resistance: Fall of man on the hardest mode, some of that is just stupid.

the last mission on hitman: contracts on a silent assassin rating . i could escape the room and get away. but i could never figure out how to kill that detective without just walking up behind him and stabbing him up, which (somewhat unsuprisingly) the cops standing around him dont seem to appreciate. apparently you had to start some sort of leon-esque raid on your hotel room but i couldn't figure it.
