I never liked WOW but I played it just so I could be with my friends.

One year after they all left then I just left, I can't explain why, maybe it was too easy or just because there was not much difference between level 5 and 60!

I actually got stuck on Oblivion's first Oblivion gate. I stopped playing for about 3 months, but after looking around in the menus of the game I saw there was a way to tone down the difficulty for those of us who suck.

Eldritch Warlord:
Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet. In the supposed "feat of strength" against Musclefoot, which is required to advance the game.

What it is is rapidly tapping a button to push and enemy into a pit. I just could not beat him.

I believe it was due to a hardware problem as I passed the test before when I rented the game. It certainly wasn't me because I can tap faster than the console can register.

Actually, I found that hard as well. It turns out that, if pushed too fast, the game cannot register all presses. I pushed it amazingly fast and lost. I pushed it significantly lower, and won.

Mr. Fister:
The only thing I can think of is the last boss battle in GH3 (So difficult *shudders*...)

I'd almost forgotten that I still have to do this. Yuck.

For those have played Mile high club on veteran and have been very sucessful on first tries, maybe you all played it on a console? Im willing to bet that most who find it extreme difficult has played it on a pc, or maybe you are just fps prodigys. The game is alot easier on consoles with autoaim etc, or so my limited experience tells me.

Having never played a Prince of Persia game before, I picked up Sands of Time and proceeded to enjoy myself quite a lot. The art and storytelling style, the cocky and oblivious Prince, the acrobatic puzzle-solving style of gameplay, all of it was enjoyable. The fighting was a bit clonky, but I figured that shouldn't really be a problem as there wasn't much of it. Then I found my dad and proceeded to die in excessive amounts. Then I put it away and never touched it again. Bleah.

The next game I will name, explain and justify all in one word: Duriel.

On the plus side, I picked up Odin Sphere again today after being stuck on Beldor the Sorcerer for the longest goddamn time. A few months ago I spent an inordinate amount of time dying repeatedly to that beardy palette-swapped jerk, got frustrated and eventually quit. Yesterday I picked it up again (lured in by the visuals... so pretty... sparkly fairy pretty princess shiny jewel wait what now?), jogged into the fight and beat him in under three minutes. I don't know either.

Auto-aim rarely helps in CoD4 on my console as you usually have to scope to use the auto aim but with the franticness of the whole situation (the 2 minutes, 3 shots and you're dead) the auto aim does not help for me WHATSOEVER.

I could only imagine what it would be like on PC.

Hmm. I've beaten every game I've played that has a definitive ending, "and I've played many-a-game across many-a-genre" without cheats or guides, or I've dropped them because they were mind-numbingly boring.
Except one whole series. The freaking Myst series kicks my arse across the room then puts it through a paper-shredder and brown bags it back to me.
I HATE MYST OMG I HATE MYST.

Yea, I've seen some people do it on youtube. It's tough enough to get through the intro. I hate the orange button. Dear Lord. I. hate. the. orange. button.

the monopoly guy:
The last level of Hl2:2...I still can't beat it...

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that game. I'm stuck on an earlier mission, though.

Well, scratch that. I guess it was the last level... I beat it earlier today.

Damn cliffhanger endings!

COD4's last level was midly easy. You just have to know. Stun grenades are your freind, Always keep moving, Sprinting when moving, Let your teammates move forward into the second (biggest room) so most of the enemys are gone and you will have your cake if you clear the next area and have a grenade down the hall. I did it with 12 seconds to spare and i'm usually the guy with bad reflex's.

Devil may cry 4, Bloody Palace, grinding my ass off for two hours 30 minutes.

My arm was aching (I was taking breaks partway through)

I was glad the developers gave me health partway through the levels above the 90's whilst I was slowly working my way up to beat all 101 levels.

10 minutes left on the timer, no worries there.

Then I get to Dante on the last level, and lose, I had enough self control and my arm was aching like crazy at this time so I didn't throw my controller, but I was pissed.

Only got to the pair of blitz since, I just gave in.

Most of the song is easy (I think).

Except for the intro and the insane solos.

I quit boring games all of the time:
- World of Warcraft
- Age of Conan (3 days after it came out ><)
- Supreme Commander (even the intro mission grew to unmanagable proportions)
- The Sims
- NFS Underground (more frustratingly difficult than boring)
- GTA4 (Yes, I was unimpressed. It's the MMORPG of action games.)
- Condemned 2 (having to navigate a puzzle sucks when you are consistently being attacked by 3-shotting badasses)

I'm currently stuck in Zack and Wiki and have been for quite some time, even with GameFaqs, but I still plan on finishing it at some point.

In fact, there are only a few games I ever continued to play for any substantial length of time:
- Counterstrike
- Battlefield 1942, 2, 2142
- Team Fortress 2
- Guitar Hero 1 and 2 (3 was horrible)
- Rock Band
- SimCity 2000
- Warcraft 2
- Starcraft

Please tell me I'm not the only one here who's played Dark Cloud. It's a great little RPG gem, it's different from the normal turn-based stuff. It's fun, give it a try.
Anyway, my "I Quit!" moment was on Dark Cloud. Last boss, I just couldn't do it. Three Forms, and nearly all of them are bitches to pass. Then I gave up for about... 1-2 years. Still haven't completed it.

OK, Resident Evil 4. I won't say it's the greatest game of all time, and I won't say it's the worst. It's got its ups and downs, but hands-down it is the one game that's kicked my ass time and again from front to back, regardless of how many times I've played through.

Imagine my first time playing RE4 on the Gamecube.
1) The first rock-dodging quicktime event. Sure, tapping "A" wasn't so hard, but when it suddenly switches to "PRESS L+R TO NOT DIE" while my tunnelvision has kicked in, and I'm a splatted Leon. It compounded itself when in every other rock-dodging scene, the button combo changed around, so that I was pressing L+R to dodge when it wanted me to press A+B. Go figure.
2) The Ashley-turns-the-levers scene. You know, where you've got Ashley and you're in the castle, you walk into the big hall with about eighty cultists. They've got shields that can stop bullets (despite shields being made of wood) and you have to a) make Ashley stand on a pressure plate to activate a crank, b) turn said crank, and c) boost Ashley up to a platform where she must turn two more cranks, while cultists pour out of the wallpaper to try to abduct her, while yet more cultists spring out of potted plants to kill you with morningstars? Yeah, that part.
3) The Krauser fight. I'm one to get engrossed in good cinematic action, so I didn't notice the blinking "A" button. Or the "A+B" button. Or the "L+R" button. In fact, I hardly noticed anything at all over the red haze of fury clouding my vision.

Call of Duty 4 on the hardest difficulty was the most recent one for me. The entire game became frustrating as russians suddenly got 100% accurate aiming on me, but I held on because I wanted to be hardcore. Then it became aggravating as they had 100% accurate aiming on me but 95% accurate aiming to my head, but I held on because I wanted to be hardcore. But on the level where we're supposed to find Khalev's hiding place in Russia and were ambushed by the helicopter, I notice that my colleagues could happily walk around in the open air because the helicopter actually had a fetish for filling any bit of my flesh with bullets. So I realized that if I died and went to hell, this would be it.

I quit and started the game fresh on a lower level of difficulty. Amazing on how the world smells like roses the moment you go from "Hardcore" to "Pretty Hard".

OH! Breath of Fire 3 on the final boss. Holy Christ that thing had my characters wheezing for life after its second form, and it had 4! And contrary to most RPGs nowadays, it actually becomes 10 times harder than 2 times easier each time it transforms. My characters were even pretty high leveled. Ended up giving up once I couldn't go past its 4th stage.

To the people who mentioned it: Hah! Duriel! I remember my dad becoming so frustrated at him. I actually freaked out when I heard about Uber Duriel that came out on a subsequent patch.

Star Wars Republic Commando.
And on the first play through Half-Life 2, I skipped the entire beach of Nova Prospekt. Don't worry, since, I have learned to very much enjoy that part.

I did it first time, and it's not because I'm good at button bashing. I reckon your controller is screwed.

Incidently, what a terrible game. Why did Rare have to totally shit on their Nintendo legacy?

Same here. I gave up on that damn boss because I couldn't switch attributes fast enough and didn't do much damage even when I did >< (I hope I'm thinking of the right game here ^^)
So I spent a whole year upgrading all my weapons to their maximum forms and tried again.
After about 4 tries I got it ^^ I was so damn glad.
..What pissed me off after that is I did not understand the ending at all ¬_¬

In the first Chronicle of Narnia game there is a 3 tiered level with 3 separate objectives, all of which are simultaneous and involve combat. That run on their own timers and if any of the timers wind down completely you lose. On top of that the timers all speed up after every time you resolve the situation AND which timer starts up is random.

There were points where I had one timer go off which would in order for me to get to it would force me to travel the screen 3 times (going from bottom to top tier) AND then just as I got to the top tier countdown (not even having resolved it yet) the bottom tier countdown would begin with 6 seconds to resolve it.

Eat me, eat me so hard Disney Corp.

I want the 50 hours of my life I spent attempting to get past that part back please.
