Paperboy Posts: 32 Joined: 2 Jun 2008 | I don't like any of the Final Fantasy games and am completely with everyone who wasn't all that impressed with phsyconauts. i went into with a positive outlook and an open mind and i even tried to make up for things but i couldn't get myself to enjoy that game. I dont think theres a problem with portal, i dont let media effect my opinion of a game and with that said i stand by portal 100 percent of the way. Halo has a great story line and gameplay, i dont go with the opinion that "if something is overrated it sucks". Sure, Halo is overrated but its still a really good game. Besides, if everyone had that opinion, where would Gears of War be. People can have their own opinions but i wont listen to them if its based off of what other people are saying. |

NOW its not that great but when you look at when it came out it was so ahead of its time, i mean think, if its OK now think of how good it was in 2004, it still looks good 4 years after it originally came out. I mean look at some other games in 2004 then look at hl2, its fucking amazing. |

(seriously wtf how the hell does freeman drive without arms... and he has no legs!) RE4: God it's fun but it's not the messiah as everyone seems to make me want to beleive. Oh and pretty much any fps It's really just aggravating and has little realism. The only game that I could get into was The Darkness edit:^ironic |

Gah! What happened there?! You were forming an opinion and you stopped! See, this is why I'm not a fan of the Oh-so-popular Political Correctness Police (PCP, lawl!) I hate any game (or movie, or publication) that tiptoes around sensitive subjects because someone may get offended. This is one of the reasons I enjoy the ZP posts, 'cause he says shit without checking to make sure people don't disagree with him first. In fact, that is the whole point of this thread, having opinions contradictory to popular belief should be considered as long as they have reasons behind the decisions. Here is my sentiments, and I have good reasons behind them all, but I won't state them all 'cause we'll get so off-topic that the thread will get lost. I don't like: ...There's my rant, thank you, and goodnight. |

And yet I haven't heard much FFVII love from any other gaming forum on the internet for quite a while. Same with KH2; hardly anyone like it and yet somehow it's "overrated" nonetheless. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 9 Joined: 18 Apr 2008 | Zelda! Arg! Do people really still get annoyed at things because of legions of fanboys? It's like when someone says "Oh God, I hate that song, it's so overplayed". Why should other peoples' opinions on something alter your own... ~~ |

Well, there could be a case made for the fanboys destroying the market... FPS's have such legions of fanboys that American game companies are catering to them and stopping production on other types of games. But I agree that's slightly different. |

oh my thought was compelte i just hate when ppl so your gay or thats so gay.i really dont think theres anything wrong with beening gay. i was just pointing out the irony of someone whos into a game with feminie male charcters calling ppl who might not enjoy a game full of meterosexauls gay thats like repaul calling brad pitt a flamer |
Paperboy Posts: 14 Joined: 14 Jun 2008 | The Windwaker Zelda game.. I returned that game within the hour, everyone said I didn't give it enough time I don't want to wait 45 minutes for me to start getting even a tiny bit interested in a game thats way to big of a pretense. which was a shame because I loved Zoros mask, (maybe it was Majoras) |
Anonymous Source Posts: 4 Joined: 10 Jul 2008 | There are a ton of games that everyone and their mother are in love with that I just never really got into. Halo was a big one. Beat the first one and deemed it "decent", the second one was "alright", and I didn't give enough of a shit to play the third. It lost its novelty a long time ago. I played a good fifteen minutes of Gears of War before deciding I'd rather be doing nothing instead. Which is exactly what I did. I don't know what it is about the FPS genre, I've never been a fan and I've never been necessarily good, which certainly didn't help. I don't think Call of Duty 4 is that amazing, but it seems everyone else does. What usually happens to me is that I'll like a game everyone else hates. One huge example I can think of is Final Fantasy X. I suppose its because it was my first real introduction to an expansive, time consuming game, but I loved it. I then went back and tried to play Final Fantasy 7, and thought it was decent at best. I loved the story, but the gameplay and graphics obviously left much to be desired, simply because of what I was used to. Although, I think we all can agree how awful Final Fantasy XII was. I was bored after the first hour. I wanted to write a review about it too, so I tried to just push through the boring parts. About thirty hours in, I had to give up. Call me a quitter, but I don't want my video games to become chores. No thanks. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 72 Joined: 5 Jun 2008 | Resident Evil 4. I didn't find it scary, and I thought the controls were absolutely terrible. Can't move while aiming? Genius. GTA 4- I didn't find the story very engrossing. It was enough to keep me going through the campaign, but the constant betrayals got too repetitive and predictable. Driving was crap, especially for motorboats and helicopters, and some of the characters were nearly impossible to like (Florian, Brucie, Dwayne) |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 711 Joined: 8 May 2008 | Halo its just another FPS and not a very good one. Possibly WoW. Ive seen people who sit there for months playing that same fuken game and I have finally found a free server so am giving it a shot but it it dont have a real storyline I will ditch it in a heartbeat. I main problem with RE 4 was your twat character taking up half the bloody screen. |
Paperboy Posts: 20 Joined: 27 May 2008 | It's strange that everyone seems to be jumping on the same bandwagon for games that they hate, that were supposedly popular... Odd since this is a thread about games that everyone loves except you. But to keep in spirit with the topic, a list of the rave games that I didn't enjoy: Raven Shield and games that have been beaten to a pulp in this thread that I love: Half-Life series And random games not related to the thread: Lyle in Cube Sector --ninja |

There is some reason for that> There are a few terribly popular games that are absolutely terrible, and I think most of them have been outed on this thread. On that topic, I have a amendment to make: I said I hated all sports games, which is basically true, but recently I've been addicted to the Chinese 2005 version of "Freestyle Street Basketball". Mainly because I'm the only white guy on any of the Chinese servers, but also because I'm better at the game than a lot of the people who have been playing it for a while. You can also customize your character with the most ridiculously stupid outfits (on the Chinese version, I never played the North American version). You can also "level up" your skills depending on which "class" (position) you play and how good you are. This means no grinding, you simply level up faster for being good at the game. The bad thing? You have to pay for everything to customize your character, as in: real money. |

I viewed it as being more subjective. If all your closest friends went on and on about Guitar Hero, all the get-togethers and parties you went to consisted of lots of attention to Guitar Hero, and everyone at your place of work/school classes were blabbing about Guitar Hero, yet you don't, and never did, give a damn about the game...then I'd certainly say you'd feel that everyone loves it but you. (Yes, add me to the list of people who don't care about Guitar Hero). Even though, flipping through this thread and other locations on the internet, it's plain to see you're not alone. But you're not constantly surrounded by the internet, now, are you? Wait..don't answer that. Well, that, and it's just as popular to hate a game as it is to love it. |

Heh, I can one-up you there, when I was working at Activision they were doing GH3 in the same room, right behind my chair. I'd just wheel over to their work area at break and watch their fingers bleed as they tried to top each others' scores. Even then, the only shit I gave about the game was watching everyone else freak out over it. I even got the game (free 'cause I worked there, ha ha ha ha!), but I never really play it. (If I got paid for each time I performed shameless self promotion by mentioning my job ties, I would be so rich I wouldn't have to work.... wait a minute...) |

I believe its called goldsrc (gold source). I didn't like Evangelion, like at all. It made no sense required many years of explaining and re watching. Then when I finally understood the story about two months ago (drunk of course) I felt so frustrated that it took me so long to finally understand what the hell people where talking about when they talked about Eva that I just despise its existence and if it wasn't for FLCL (heh speaking of anime you can't understand XD) I would have not liked every single anime I have seen from that company. |
Paperboy Posts: 21 Joined: 1 Jun 2008 | I hate Halo as well - I'm following arrows on the floor but I swear I'm lost, I've seen this same room 10 times. Final fantasy - Stupid boring turn base, Thats NOT a video game Kingdom Hearts - Everyone in that game makes no sense, with their darkness and light in hearts and it being eternal. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 88 Joined: 11 Jun 2008 | WoW - a game shouldn't fell like a second job and there is a serious deesign flaw in your game if it's only fun at the highest levels. Halo 2 and 3, maybe a little of 1 - The single player campaigns are shockingly bad, especially in Halo 3, and the multiplayer is dull unless played with people in the same room as you, even then it doesn't last long. Also all the people on xbox live are cunt sponges, which just makes it worse |
Copy Clerk Posts: 99 Joined: 2 Apr 2008 | Final-Fantasy. Or anything from Japan really. I just can't stand it! EDIT: I hated S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I re-installed it about 3 times just to find out what made other people like it so much. The enviroments, AI, hitboxes, accuracy etc. makes it one of the worst shooters ever in my opinion. You spend most of the time running back and forth ( WHERE ARE THE VEHICLES?). I just didn't like it, it feels really lousy to play. |

Heh heh, hitboxes. The problem probably wasn't that the hitboxes were misplaced, rather the guns are fairly inaccurate. Unless you have a sniper rifle, or an ak and you shoot 1 shot at a time while crouching down, after 20 shots, you might hit the guy. If you're close, however, it's pretty easy. Still, there is a LOT of walking around, and if you just loaded up with loot you can run about 2 seconds before trudging the rest of the way. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 83 Joined: 8 Jan 2008 | To be fair, I will reduce it to the games I played before judging them : - GTA. All of them, 2D or 3D. Its fun for a while to go mad in the city and then it pretty much gets boring with no remaining motivation to do the missions. But I have the problem with all kind of Sandbox games. - HALO : about 100 years after the XBOX release it came to the PC. I never understood why people can like it nearly religious and become such enormous fanboys. This gloryfied mediocrity damaged the whole industry by causing the trend of stupid console shooters we endure today. Well done. - CoD4 : I HATE this endless respawn mechanics in the singleplayer. Cant get well with it. - World in Conflict : lots of RTS fans went OMFGWTFBBQ !!! and I realy shared their feeling through the beta phase, but the game gets quickly soooo repative that it bored me strong enough not to buy it. Look, when you are playing the Infantry commander you end in command two types of solders (normal squads and rockt squads) through woods or urban areas and spam airstrikes. When you take Air you command two types of helicopters and spam airstrikes. When you take Armour you maybe move four tanks over open fields and spam airstrikes. When you... I guess you got it. |
Star Ocean, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Halo.
I simply hate all of those games.
