ENTER THE MATRIX

That game is terrible but I used to have an obsession with the movies so I loved the game.

Silent hill, the first one. having left it on the shelf for the past 10 years or so i thought i'd play through again. i got bored too quickly.

Saying that, i found Parasite Eve and R-Type Delta on the shelf next to it and i played both those through again quite happily.

Disgaea. And it makes me feel terrible because I really like the overall atmosphere of the game and want to finish it, but there is so much grinding that I feel like I'm playing a MMORPG. After quiting for a year, I progressively try to return to it but I just can't once I notice I'm not doing anything more than just grinding for levels.

And I'm a RPG lover, augh!

owlet: Parasite Eve is immaculate. Finished that game 3-4 times over my life and it never feels dull.

eaisly goldeneye. It was an inovation, and i played it for hours. Now I cant play, the controles are borken. and every serface is the same.

It is still a huge inovation

That's a good point to bring up. Some games, while touted as revolutionary and significant, have simply been improved upon to the point that it's not particularly fun to play them. I'm not saying that they're not worthy of recognition; it's just the truth that they haven't aged that well.

I remember playing goldeneye with my friends and having so much fun. I went to boot it up the other day, and all i managed to do was annoy myself to the point i didn't wanna play the game anymore. Broken controls, hideous design choices, it has fallen into the bin of licensed crap in my book. Not saying it was bad then, just bad now.

The Pokémon Stadium games for the N64. I remember playing these games 24/7 when I was a kid, now I can barely bring myself to play more than 5 minutes.

Though it has been said many times already, I still have to say The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. My brother and I used to play this game religiously, trying our hardest to actually get a good character who could kill everything in the game (and stealing everything that wasn't nailed down, of course). We played it so much that we found every single glitch in the game (no joke) and we even accidentally discovered the cheat codes just by screwing around with the game. But the last time I tried to make a new character I was pretty much bored to tears, since I'd already experienced the glory that is Oblivion.

Umm.... That and the Halo games now. Yes, they were very fun, but when I play them now it's just like "Meh, just another shooter"....except for Halo: Combat Evolved, which still kicks ass.

I'd have to say Army Men Air Attack, I remember picking it up as a kid for my PS1 and loving it. I found my PS1 and all my old games and the only games I had for it that I would still consider even playable are FF8 and Legend of Dragoon.

I also have to say Star Wars: Battlefront, the second one spoiled me.

Gears of War. I loved it during my first play through at a friends house, when I bought it for myself I just didn't like it.

Phantasy Star Online: Episodes 1 + 2 for the gamecube. I used to spend hours playing that game, straight hours, now I fucking hate it. It could be the most repetitive game I have ever played. Seriously.

That and Treasure Mountain, I loved that game when I was six, still have fond memories.... but I don't think I'll ever play it again. Please tell me if you know the game I'm talking about.

Used to love Diablo 1, just can't go back to the old crappy controls anymore. Don't mind old graphics, only old interfaces.

Wait, what? What's so crappy about it? The first 2 Diablos are basically the same game...unless you mean that Diablo 2 also has crappy controls, which I wholeheartedly disagree with.

As for my games...well, I used to love the crap out of Super Mario World and DKC 1-3, but now I just can't play them because I still remember just about every nook and cranny in those games. Don't dislike them, but I just wish I'd forget about them.

earthworm jim. I was mental for his games, his tv show, and the the action figures back in the day, but looking back, it's "meh" at best. and for the record, megaman was the shit, til capcom took the piss, and released battle network.
Still, I think it's unfair to judge the entirety all SNES and NES games as bad, or a carpet statement that all the controls are broken. A great deal of of old games have awful controls, but there's a still a pile that, even today still hold up as fun and/or addicting. I still can't get enough pipedream, or dr mario. Hell, I just played through MC Kids two days ago, lol.

I remember Legend of Dragoon. Game had like freaking 5-6 discs and random battles when not walking in a safe zone. Me and my cousins used to all play the game, one of us would walk and we all reserved a character to fight as during battles.

To blanket all of the super nintendo games or the like as bad is a bit childish. I believe this is what ZettaSan was trying to comment on. Though he did a poor job of it.

As for me, most rpgs are a bit boring. don't go in for the grindfest anymore. Mario RPG being one of the few examples of still being playable for hours on end. Kirby and Megaman X are favorites of mine. still fun for a jaunt down memory lane and don't take more than an hour or two to complete.

and who liked playing resident evil games in the first place? personally I couldn't stop laughing at the horrible voice acting and embarrassing writing long enough to actually play the game. I did watch a friend play through, and we were both quite bored with it. Resident Evil 4 was alright I suppose, but quicktime button mashing is a horrible construct and should be done away with for the sake of humanity and my sanity.

GTAIV

the incentives during online games are so poorly designed that the game modes are practically useless since most people have no clue what they are doing. this definitely put a damper on the replayability factor.

Wow, I just got a huge nostalgic feeling. I loved the second game and then Age of Mythology after that. But yes, there are definitely better alternatives nowadays.

On the positive side, Mario 64 is a game that has definitely aged well. I never owned an N64, so I found an emulator and played through the whole game... and I had fun doing it! I think it thrives because of its simplicity.

Star wars: Starfighter, and Medal of Honour: line. Enjoyed both immensely on first play through, but they aged badly.

Geo Da Sponge:
I'd have to say Civilisation 2. I downloaded it recently and found it wasn't nearly as enjoyable as I remembered, especially compared to more recent games.

Civ3 for me, the graphics alone made it hard to tell what was going on.
