The Sleep Gas Satchel from MGS4. It's a remote detonated sleep gas mine. If you're careful you can stick it to people's arses and then wait for them to go over to some friends and detonate it, taking them all out. Did i mention you can stick it to people's arses?

A weapon that seems satisfying to me is a weapon that spawns bots! I do like RTS but I especially love being able to have drones to help me kill in an FPS.

Ratchet and Clank, not an FPS, but those doombots or whatever are awesome.

Melee and bloody.

I like it when I can get up close and eviscerating with my enemies, which is why Ninja Gaiden 2 makes me so happy with it's gigantic rip-you-apart scythe :D

Overall, I'd say pistols are the best in almost any game. Why? Simple.

1. Pistols have the most common ammo in games.
2. Pistols are usually pretty accurate.
3. Pistols usually have good range.
4. Pistols usually do 1-hit kill headshots.
5. Pistols are light, and in games where that matters, you run faster with them.
6. Pistols get silencers, stealth ftw!

I find the most satisfying weapons are the ones that make my controller vibrate..

-and I prefer the ones that make my subwoofer loosen the foundation of my house.

I made that mistake when the "Mavor" in supcom fired, had everything turned up, but man was it totally worth hearing. I swear I felt a shockwave (or at least it was the "illusion" of one). Ever since then though, I just thought "Rumble can go **** itself...that was awesome."

Oh and another "slow but deadly" weapon that comes to mind is the M82 in MGS4, there were M82's in other games but this one is special because of the way it looks, instead of a "gun with a stock" it looks more like a "precision shoulder fired canon" or something, half the time I don't even aim down the scope because of that.

Of all M82's though, the one in "Firearms" is the best, that mod is practically gone now but the memories of me shooting someone in the knee, thus breaking their leg, and then landing the final shot as they slowly limp away just made you feel (somewhat cruel) so skilled and "tactical" - like a curel opportunist or something.

Also I remember some things in the Mercenaries game like the bunker buster (which was actually a lot different from an actual bunker buster but none-the-less it was still awesome) that made buildings crack in two halves and then crumble apart.

just so long as it doesn't degrade overtime and actually feels like it's useful in the game, i'm happy. seriously, weapon degradation is stupid.

I like giving a good old arrow right between the eyes with a torque bow in gears of war.
That and the rivet gun with exploding bullets from Metal arms.
so much joy comes from blowing your enemies cerebellum out the nearest window

small guns with big power.it's why i like the golden gun and hate the halo magnum.i love pistols with stopping power.(like the magnum in the godftaher, fully upgraded.)and the 44. shepard in saints row is my favoirte gun of all time.all the power of a shot gun, twice as long range.

Is it the ammo supply? Ammo isn't a big deal for me but i like to be able to spray at something if it comes close. So a 30 round clip when your given 3 clips is ok.
Is it the power? As long as its good from range its fine.
Is it the practicality? Unless its games like quake i like my weapon to have a silencing ability.
Is it the accuracy? Accuracy is key. I can't use weapons that have poor accuracy, its just not the way i play.
Or, is it a combination of the above? It's all of the above :D.

M4A1 on CS:CZ and CS:S is my favorite weapon.

I assume that "Submachine Guns" is in your #2 spot right?

Looking at your list, definitely hard to argue whether SMG's or a Pistol would be more practical but, I think I'd still take an SMG, unless you give me a high caliber pistol with a long barrel, I have a soft spot for those.

I'd say size-->sound-->damage-->size of explosion (visually). If anyone remembers the SCUDD missile from BF1942 Desert Combat... that was soo satisfying

Satisfying weapon= high quality katana + insane skills and constitution (something in between Seta Sōjirō's speed and agility and (Rouroni Kenshin) and Shimada Kambei's wisdom and insane skills{Samurai 7}).

For me a satisfying weapon is a weapon when you feel a special feeling when you kill som one whit it, not the "hagwihahwhahiha, i killed you feeling" but the "Aoooww, pwnt" feeling.

The perfect example would be the hidden blade in Assassin's creed. It's so awsome to run to a dude and then jump on him and put a dagger in his troath.

Oooh yeah, I made a battery of those then fired them all at the enemy commander in one go. Took a fucking age to do but then I just decimated the whole map.

Call of Duty 4 did i nice job recently for me, letting rip with an m249 feels so damn good. I don't like all the weapon sounds in Call of Duty 4 tho, some sound very hollywood to me.

Any game with an M4 i love like Operation Flashpoint, ARMA, Counterstrike and many others.

Power is definitely a big issue for me. However, the main thing is, it has to be cool. The Gravity Gun, for instance. When you get down to it, not the best of weapons, but GOD DAMN picking up a buzzsaw blade and chopping a zombie in half is fun.

Spartan mother fucking lazer
very "satisfying"

Sorry, I have to disagree there...

It will kill whoever is wielding it if they use it close to some obstruction - the energy released just has no where to go but back in your direction. Whilst a realistic fringe consequence that the experienced player of Halo has to master, it has been known to kill players who fire it through foliage...

Effectively, death by leaf.

I've always found a satisfying weapon to have a large humiliation factor, above all else. I'm talking about the Grav Hammer of Halo 3, among others. I will seek out this weapon, not because it is an instant kill, but because nothing adds insult to injury like killing a guy, and then launching their corpse into a wall 50 metres away. Also, Oddjob's hat from 007: Nightfire, was my weapon of choice for roughly the same reason.

A sniper rifle that is actually SILENCED! I hate sneaking up on a group of enemies in a game, then dropping the toughest one in the group only to alert everybody else to my exact location. I like shooting them, then watching his friends reactions as they scramble around, trying to find cover, but realizing too late that I was actually behind them. And it may sound odd, but I prefer the sniper rifles to be bolt-action, because when you hit the guy in the eye with just one shot, it feels more satisfying than spraying an area with semi-auto rounds and only hitting one out of every five shots or so.

I agree with you completely, they say you don't need a silencer if you are far enough but with a semi that isn't a .50 you'll need to rely on re-location since it won't be as precise, and of course it will be loud as hell. Also I know most rifles are pretty good in semi but I love bolt action more...which is why I love this thing...

Cheytac M200.

Now we need it in games.

Hehehehe... Heretic, powerup book. There was a weapon that literally caused it to rain blood and fire when fired. That is fucking awesome.

And silenced sniper rifles are just boring. Sure, they're effective, but it's more satisfying if you fire it and everyone within five miles hear a gargantuan bang that almost knocks them off their feet. Especially if you're somewhere where it echoes. And bolt action is also more satisfying despite being slower, less accurate and takes more practice (you have to learn to return to the exact same spot if there were more than one enemy). Of course, only one of those translate into games.

I care more about how interestying it is to use

take for example, the Farsight gun from the first perfect dark. anyone who's played the game knows just how overpowered that thing was in multiplayer with and auto lock-on x-ray scope with the ability to shoot through every single wall in the level at one with a 1-2 shot kill(depending on shields) it made for a pretty nice package even if i was playing alone it was still fun to play target practice with all the sims in the wharehouse level

P.S. the Harbinger from ratchet and clank deadlock was much cooler

If you haven't played it, check the Video review here, then go get it, I think it's like $10 on steam now...

The original Painkiller (not overdose, its horrible).

As well as being a great fun and over the top FPS, it threw the usual...
Fists/pistol/shotgun/machinegun/rocket launcher list of weapons out of the window.

there IS a mini gun, rocket launcher and shotgun in there, but not til later on.

First thing you get is the painkiller, which goes in the 'melee' slot, and its like a lawnmower (See Braindead the Movie), its alt fire is to either kill foes and yank em to you, or to stick in a wall, and create a laser beam.

Then you get the stake gun, which also never gets old, pinning crazy monks to walls by their face, I never get tired of it! Comes with a grenade launcher, and if you're really good, you can lob a grenade, shoot it with a stake and add loads of range :D

then there's a shuriken launcher / lightning gun, which again, has an alt fire of shooting a pile of charged shurikens into the floor and frying anyone coming near.

I just dont remember the last time I saw so much imagination go into a weapon set as Painkiller, and every weapon is very useful in multiple situations, you're never stuffed just because you're out of rocket or uzi ammo.

Yes, I recently reinstalled it and am playing again, and although some of the 'challenges' are tiresome, the main game is still obscenely good fun.

It's like they took every department except graphics and sound, and moved them into the gameplay division. "Plot? we dont need one, some nonsense about Hell will do, now get back to making stuff to blow up!"

Oh and the flamethrower in TF2, I know I'll get abuse from people on this one, but coming from a still fairly average skilled DPS player, its nice to have a weapon, that when deployed at the right place and time, can cause utter chaos!

Drop into a group of 5 or more enemies, and just flail around like an idiot and even if you only get one or two kills, you'll certainly throw any plans they had out the windows as the main plan becomes 'run awaaaay!'

No, its not the most effective weapon, and pyros are easy to kill, but hey, its FUN, and isnt that why we all started gaming?

The whole weapon set in Painkiller has some definitely satisfying weapons.

I too like silenced sniper rifles. From time to time I like to dig out my old copy of Goldeneye and play the first Severnaya mission over and over again, taking out the entire field of enemies before any of them knows what hit them. Sadly, there's only about 8 enemies in the entire stage, but taking out 8 enemies with 8 bullets (100% accuracy and 100% kill ratio) without being spotted, that's a new kind of satisfying.
In that vein, I adored the "Hawk's Mask" in LoZ: Twilight Princess that turns your bow into a sniper weapon with a zoom feature. The cute little "wild west" level was a scream.

But yeah, a weapon with splash damage is always good.

"agents of doom" from ratchet and clank 3
not really a gun but definately a great weapon, (throw one down and little murderously adorable robots come swarming out and proceed to shoot nearby enemies before going kamekazee in a mushroom cloud of doom)
the only down side is that it takes no skill to use and unbalances the game

I have to say, I'm a huge fan of explosions, massive destruction, etc etc. Also, the more graphic the kill, the better >D

But it goes along with what everyone says -- depends on what I'm doing. For fps online, I prefer lots of ammo and accuracy. I think it gets a bit ridiculous when everyone either has a grenade/rocket launcher or some shit like that and is basically blowing up everything and kills are just the result of luck.

But at the same time, in a single player mode, I love just having this huge ass weapon on my shoulder blowing up the entire screen left and right. It's actually quite the stress reliever :D haha!

And then...there are the few instances where it is necessary to be quiet and accurate...accuracy is a must along with practicality.

I would think the perfect weapon would be one you could use all throughout a game. Something with a kickass primary fire, and back it up with a hard-hitting secondary fire. have it loaded with plenty of ammo so your not constintly having to look at your ammo count. And if you do run out, their needs to plenty to pick up. It should also have a close combat function.

As long as I'm able to sit back, smile and fight the inner chuckle after a particularly epic kill...then it was probably a satisfying weapon.

For me a satisfying weapon is one that when both you and your enemy are wielding it, it is skill that prevails rather than who fires the first shot or lands the first blow.

This works with words to. The keyboard is mightier than the AWP on the internet.
