finalcut315:
the original halo, I just drove somewhere, shot things, then drove elsewhere. Halo 2 is just as boring for going back to that fucking halo, at least the third had the decency to make that level short.

If was mostly fun the first time through, way back in '01 but Halo CE has not aged well, IMO. I just didn't like Halo 2 at all.

Folks listing games like Halo, WoW and Mass Effect make me question how many games they've played in their lives.

Let's see...just about any Kingdom Under Fire game ever is boring, but nothing really tops Circle of Doom in that department. It's a technically competent and decent looking action RPG, but it seems all they had was mathematicians for designers, so the loot you get is the sort that gives you a 0,01% increase on damage and so on. The AI is also bad to the point that you can hit enemies from a safe distance with ranged attacks over and over and over again till they die...they rarely even get off their asses to attack you. And yeah, the game has virtually no story at all.

Then there was Exile on the A500, which at the time was a very impressive game technically...shame it was just no fun to play. At all.

Cossacks II has to rank up there for me, but also a really dodgy RTS I played many a year ago called Three Kingdoms: Fate of the Dragon.

A shitload of them. But none of the hundreds of games I've rented, bought, or borrowed has ever managed to literally put me to sleep, save WoW. Every other game either showed how shitty it was before it got to that point, or had some redeeming quality that kept some inkling of interest alive within me. WoW did not.

My list of 'boring games' is small because I will usually cease playing them as soon as they show themselves as such, and forget about them.

Ugh, there are so many ties for most boring game ever in my book.

Runescape: Ugly, boring and tedious.

Any Metal Gear Solid game. The story makes no sense, the combat is poorly executed, and even the characters tend to feel as if even they have no idea what the hell is going on.

Hellgate London. It felt like playing a MMORPG, but unlike Warcraft, it was boring and stupid. To many 'Go collect X amount of objects or kill Y amount of monsters or find some random item which you pretty much have to walk all the way to the moon to get' quests without having a semi engaging backstory like WoW.
(Yes, I know WoW isn't everyones cup of tea, but I enjoyed it, so please don't quote my reply saying stupid crap like "LOL, WoW was teh booring! I hateed it, U should die LOL!"

Any JRPG.

Azurik: Rise of Perathia for the Xbox.

I'd say Runescape, but everyone's said that already, so I'll give EvE Online an honourable mention for the hours I've spent drifting through space en route to some asteroid field.

Shenunme 2. or how evr the hell you spell it. I only ever played it once because i was already bored, and after a day with that game i wanted to die.

Does anyone know who exactly that name is pronounced??

Most Boring? prob Riddle of the Sphinx for the old Atari

However Xenosaga episode 1 is a close second.Only game where I've played all night and fell asleep in a long cutscene, only to wake up and still be in the same cutscene. Not to mention the storyline makes no sense.plus the combat is boring as well as the dungeon crawling, with its crate destroying aspect.

Final Fantasy Tactics. I love most FF games, but this one was a drag.I guess I love the open world aspect, so when I got to travel from place to place on a pathlane I was disappointed.

Harvest Moon!!

and Descent for the 64

I found System Shock 2 pretty boring, which is unusual, since I love the Thief and Deus Ex series, and it was recommended to me as another game in the same vein as those others. Just couldn't get into it though.

I could list a hundred reasons why Final Fantasy 12 almost bored me to death. Instead, I will list just one: Because it sucked. From what I could gather from the mess of what Squenix called a story, some political bullshit caused some other crap and a princess was on the run, but you never really got to hang with said princess for too long. Oh ya, and the characters are dull and unoriginal. Oh, and one more thing, the game sucked. Did I say that already?

I'm sure you can see I was disappointed. Anyway, I just played Top Spin 3. Man, was it boring. I played the original Top Spin for the Dreamcast I think, and it was really pretty fun. However, they tried to make this version realistic. Only problem is, they missed. Badly. There is no atmosphere at all and the points are never exciting. I found the most effective way to win wasn't to take a chance and go for a big shot (because you would miss every time) but instead, to simply slice the ball back cross court and have a nice, long, boring 10-shot rally before your opponent went for a big shot - and missed. I mean seriously, when was the last time Federer missed an easy cross court forehand (Zing!)? Anyway, don't play the game. Character creation is pretty lame and the gameplay is even worse. Oh, and here's the kicker. As far as I could tell, the game has a four song soundtrack. I'm not kidding. Do You Want To by Franz Ferdinand, Great Escape by Boys Like Girls, some crappy techno song, and that song from Napoleon Dynamite when he dances at the school election. Oh, and the songs restart every time you go to a new menu. Awesome.

Soldner, a mate of mine bought it back from Serbia for me. IT looks good, initially felt good, apart from some shoddy graphics, but then i got bored when it asked me to do the same mission six times, drive 50KM without incident, pick up a REALLY slow truck, and drive in another 50km, only to get shot by an RPG. Then Helicoptors i caled in spawned directly over my head, dropping to the ground, exploding and killing me, Bridges disappeared whislt i was driving my jeep over them, sending my plummeting into a river, and finally, my tank got stuck in a shell hole, at which point i decided to get out and shoot the enemy only to find my weapons had been dropped by my smart mercenary as he got in the tank!

Shadow of the Collosus bored me shitless.

Me too, fighting the actual colossi was ten types of epic but the whole getting there part was really long and boring.

When i saw the topic title i immediatly knew there would be atleast 1 hl2 mention, 5 wow mentions and 5 mmo's in general. I remain unsuprised but i'm still waiting for the obligatory rant about Portal's lack of different guns.

On topic: wiianything, games ripped directly from newgounds and miniclip with nintedo's currently favourite gimmick and an insane price tag added(keep in mind that the originals are free and can be controlled with a mouse). And let's not start on any of the "healthy" products nintendo puts out. DS eye training...

Clive Barker's Jericho also deserves a honorable mention involving 12 exactly the same fights in a row.

I'm gonna have to agree with Anti-Santa on Shenmue 2 being the most boring game of all time. I tried to play the game over and over again because it looked good and had a good premise but forcing me to get a job and go to work to advance the story sucked. I hated coming home from my shitty job to turn on my console and have to go to my shitty job in the game. ARGGHHH!! Burn in hell Shenmue 2

Final Fantasy VII.

This game was so boring I actually fell asleep playing it, which is unprecedented.

My friends were all like "Hey, you have to play this game, it's amazing. Easily the best game I have ever played!" And I said "Awesome, I'll give it a shot." Well, lets just say that I was severely disappointed. It was EXACTLY the same as every other Final Fantasy game, except this time you played a a man who looked like a woman who also had a fifty foot long sword! So innovative!

Another for Half - Life 2 here. I can appreciate the structure of the game and its gameplay, but it does not have that 'just 5 more minutes' quality that my favourite games have.

That, and I thought the friendly NPCs were too touchy-feely, whatever they were gabbing on about was dull to me.

I would never have bothered finishing it if it was not for the 360 achievements . . .

so i played a game that no one will ever play, ever. it was called aero wings, for the dreamcast. the entire premise was fly around different planes and perform shows. no combat, your planes were unarmed. it was synchronized flying. the most boring game ever. although eves, fly somewhere , mine for 20 minutes, fly to another galaxy, sell, rinse repeat, could give it a run for the money.

One of the SaGa games for PS2... can't remember which one it was, but it was the most boring thing I've ever attempted to play.

Oh yeah, I remember that one... First one was cool, but the sequel was a weird RPG gameboard hybrid. It was like playing a crappy version of Risk.

Though, game I found the most boring was Killer 7. It could have been on the NES.

It has to be STALKER for me. Played for a few hours, got lost, shot some radiation infected wildlife and was killed by an anomaly, or whatever they call them. I'll give most games a good go, but I just couldn't be bothered with STALKER.

the irony of all of this is MGS4 was the sole reson i started using my PS3 for somthing other than blu-ray movies.funny because splinter cell and MGS have been said to be almost the same game but i dont see it.

half life didn't catch my fancy either. the only thing i liked was the radioactive crossbow thing that fired glowing metal rods at baddies.

I enjoy the Super Smash Brothers games...for about 20 minutes. Then, it occurs to me that all I'm doing is mashing buttons and it makes me wonder why I'm wasting my time.
