You just keep telling yourself that. The rest of us that have completed the the game will be over here in reality land. [Alternate response: The only reason they were able to bring Alyx back was because she was only knocked out by the Hunter. Eli was flat out skull-sucked by the Advisor. There's no coming back from that.] |

I did Eeny, meeny, miny, moe because they were both useless to me (I use the Krogan and Turian) |

That was the hardest decision in the game XD they were both actually good characters. I played though twice so I could kill both of them XD |

Yeah...if you ignore the fact that whoever got left behind was at ground zero in a nuclear explosion. |

Hey all they need to do is get in a fridge those nukes are so weak. |

See I just felt like Kaidan's death would be more awesome, and I thought it was thoroughly bad ass in the end, besides, he asks you to leave him behind, whereas abandoning Ashley would have felt cruel. |

This. I was so disappointed when Carth just ran away at that point, I lost all respect for the character. Also, when I was younger and I had Gradius 3, I realised that there's no way you could have possibly escaped after blowing up the... whatever it was at the end. :( |

Whenever someone says they picked Ashley... all I can think of is they just wanted the sex scene :\ She's one of the least developed characters I've ever seen in an RPG. |

Fifties nukes were weak, future nukes are way better. |

No, not knocked out. The Hunter put a leg through her stomach, and then it took her a bit over half an hour to reach the Vortigaunt group. She was dead when she reached them. Yet she recovered easily, and managed to fight up to the radioactive swamp, and volunteer me to go out into that place. Bitch. |

me too that was one of the saddest endings in game history |

I agree with you. Mind twisting and emotional pulling sucks balls. I would have to go with the Big Boss that guy was cool and everything and then you just kill him. Solid Snake is a cold hearted bastard. |

Exactly! |
Paperboy Posts: 12 Joined: 7 Jul 2008 | Carmine from Gears of War and Ashley Williams from Mass Effect. I would feel bad for Wrex in one of my accounts but I didn't kill him. With Ash I choose for her to die (mainly because she was a violent racist). The thing with Carmine is that I can be him in multiplayer so he lives on (and so does his uncanny ability to catch bullets with his cranium). I've had my share of deaths in Gears online. |
Paperboy Posts: 12 Joined: 7 Jul 2008 | I've played through Mass Effect a bunch of times and I've seen every possible teamate death. Kaidan accepted his death much more passively while Ash was much more of a badass. |

Hey I'll be honest, the only real reason I did it was for the chance to get it on with her. Although at the time I thought I'd have a chance to save Kaiden once I'd gotten to Ashley (surely they wouldn't kill off one of the main characters?) and then the place blew up along with Kaiden and I did feel an unexpected pang of guilt. I should have known. Prior to that when Wrex got shot to death, Bioware proved to me they would indeed go there. Two down. |

After playing through MGS3: Snake Eater, I developed a real fondness for Big Boss. I was outraged when he (or what was left of him) died in MGS4. [POTENTIAL SPOILER] A bad day for Solid Snake when both his parents die. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 115 Joined: 4 Jul 2008 | my most memorable death is for Warhammer Dawn of war when the librian turns out to be Chaos and you have to kill him. And second. master chief, just being left in space.well i kinda think he desireved it for turning Halo 3 into a sub par shooter. And yeah the ending for COD4 had me quite emotional and speechless for minutes |

What about that Japanese woman? He still has her. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 667 Joined: 26 Mar 2008 |
I know the woman you are talking about; isn't she Solidus' mother or was it her DNA and that of Big Boss that comprises Solid Snake and Eva was just used as the surrogate? I get confused. I was trying to pay attention and my brother and his mate were crapping on over the cutscene. Maybe I should check out that MGS questions thread. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 117 Joined: 25 Apr 2008 | I was caught off guard by the marine dying in COD4. When I had him crawling around in the debris, I kept saying: "No way, they can kill this guy. His levels are too good and action-packed. There's got to be a rescue chopper or something." Instead he dies slowly and horribly and alone. Normally I can see a plot twist in a game/movie coming from a mile away but this was a quick jab at my reasoning on how a game's plot should develop, making me like the game even more. |

... Compared to what? What else have you played that you haven't seen anything more shallow than her? There are other characters in that very game that have less depth. Just because she doesn't have a the typical weepy melodramatic backstory/plot hook doesn't make her shallow. Maybe you're confused by the fact that she is the only vanilla unaugmented human in the cast? Everyone else is an alien or has psi-powers. The fact that she didn't have the stock Bioware Henchman Fetch Quest makes her more interesting to me as well. Losing Dogmeat in the Vats near the end of Fallout was always tough for me. I loved my dog. |

Other main characters in that game? Yeah, no. What the hell does Ashley ever do in the game? What's your most memorable quote from Ashley? I do admire Bioware for making her the hardcore military type instead of a generic blustering damsel in distress (like the Asari party member whose name I can't remember), but really... I never really felt like Ashley added much to the plot. Of course that could be BioWare's fault for taking out the ability to speak to your party members in depth whenever you wanted to, which was one of my biggest gripes with ME. |

Would you really have liked the game more if you didn't have to euthanize the cube, though? That's one of the game's defining moments, after all.
