Press Junketeer Posts: 399 Joined: 6 Jul 2008 | There's already Blood Gulch. It's called "Valhalla". OK, it's not identical, but it's pretty much the same. |

Totally agree with this guy, Valhalla = blood gulch in my books and a second map that is nearly identical would be pointless. |

Pretty much doesn't cut it. |
Muckraker Posts: 292 Joined: 5 Jul 2008 | I don't like Halo very much, so I wouldn't spent money on an expansion, not even if it is free |

That's the least sense I've seen anyone make in a while. |

Beat Writer Posts: 157 Joined: 5 Jun 2008 | I liked it a lot, I didn't play Halo for about 2 months, and forgot how much fun this game really is. And besides that, free is ALWAYS good. |

What exactly is so horrifically wrong with Valhalla that you need a nearly identical map to make up for it? Is it the snow? Do you hate the snow? |

No I hate the smaller bases, replacing the teleporters with the cannon, not placing the weapons in the same spots, no caves with power-ups, smaller than blood gulch, no RvB episodes memories (Yea there is Reconstruction Legendary edition episode 1 and a few specials but not the 100 episode blood gulch chronicles),No cliffs, etc. EDIT: Valhalla is my favourite Halo 3 map but it is no Blood Gulch/Coagulation |
Press Junketeer Posts: 399 Joined: 6 Jul 2008 | So, basically, you hate that Bungie decided to be somewhat original instead of copy/pasting Blood Gulch? Do you honestly think Bungie are going to remake Blood Gulch when the new version is good enough for almost everyone else? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3206 Joined: 8 May 2008 |
Yes. They brought back maps at the end of Halo 2's life span and of course they would just for the Die-hards for the map like me (there are others) that will pay for iy rather than wait for it to be free. http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=22438763&postRepeater1-p=3#22505290 There are people that want it back as well. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 399 Joined: 6 Jul 2008 | I still can't see it happening. They've been doing quite a few remakes lately, and I'm sure they want to start doing original maps again - Moonbase Alpha, for instance. |

They brought back the Assualt rifle because of popular demand even though they had the SMG. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 399 Joined: 6 Jul 2008 | Was the assault rifle ever gone? I never played Halo 2, but I'm sure I would have heard of a missing weapon. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3206 Joined: 8 May 2008 |
The assault rifle is not in Halo 2. Human weapons M6C Magnum |

It's about standard for Halo bashers. It's why I find it impossible to take their opinions seriously, really. |

I was pissed when they replaced the assault rifle and the good pistol...Although, Bungie must realized, how easy it was to kill their tank-alien with one bullet shot. |

Hunters are nothing. How bout spawning kill a base on top of a cliff and getting 200 kills (Halo PC) the pistol is overpowered and has Infinite range and (of course) it is everyone favourite weapon for that reason. |

Oh god no. Worst map in any FPS. Then again, you probably never played Halo Custom Edition where it's all anbody fucking plays. EVER. (Yes, I'm aware of the irony) |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3206 Joined: 8 May 2008 |
I don't play Halo Custom its not one of the "pure" Halos (AKA No fucking longsword) |

... uh... You are aware that you just condemned the entire game because a total of 4 (out of over 1400 released) maps have a certain vehicle? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3206 Joined: 8 May 2008 |
Halo PC (standard) better because of less hackers and weapons/vehicles like the longsword. |

Last time I checked, Halo CE has about 20 dedicated servers running, all of which consist of tight knit communities of people who know eachother well... and don't take too kindly to aimbotters. Halo CE players are the ones who invented the sightjacker, and for that matter there are hundreds of custom maps with no custom content if that bothers you so much. :| But we're getting massively offtopic here. If you've got anymore flawed arguments let's handle them through PMs. |

On careful examination, I don't believe that this is a flawed comment, as although 'Cold Storage' is a free download, you must own the other map packs to utilize it. The Heroic is now free, but you still have to pay for the Legendary Map Pack - although, Microsoft has reduced the price of this as of today. So, 'Cold Storage' is, technically, not free if you have to buy something else to be permitted to use it. |

That ship Master chief leaves in at the end of halo 1 |
Copy Clerk Posts: 59 Joined: 2 Mar 2008 | Personally I think it is awesome, although I have only played customs on it so far. Also it is free you just need it to play in the playlists requiring all DLC. |

Okay, I just lost my N.E.R.D Badge because even if Master Chief slapped me in the middle of a street, I'd still say it was a Pelican. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 946 Joined: 26 Mar 2008 | Coagulation is one of my personal favs. I wish they'd redo the one on Halo:CE (can't remember the name) where you had the two, multi-tiered battle cruisers opposite each other. There was nothing more hilarious than being engaged in a fire-fight along the open corridor and then seeing the other guy taken out by a rocket fired across the gulf of space. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2844 Joined: 3 Mar 2008 | I looked it up, being an owner of Halo 3 myself, and it doesn't really look that fun. Personally, I wish they would release, as me and my friends call it: "Good ol' Headlong." |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 4093 Joined: 14 Jan 2008 | Would have preferred a remake of Coagulation/Blood Gulch personally, but its an OK map I guess. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2896 Joined: 18 Dec 2007 | I enjoyed the new map...infact it has gotten me back into Halo 3. As for the Valhalla/Blood Gulch thing, the problem with that map is the middle high ground. Capturing this provides you with the high ground and hence an advantage, this causes people to go and capture the middle ground. Because of this the fighting takes place between the hill and the base which halves the size of the map, or at least the areas in which people play. By having the rocks and cliffs around the map this stops vehicle combat. The two missile pods and Spartan Laser keep the people out of the vehicles as well, the man cannon allows for people to move to the middle of the hill far too quickly which means you can just spam players into the centre of the map until you take the most strategic point and then you camp there while the enemy spams players at you. The only good game type for Valhalla is King of the Hill with a single point in the centre. Blood Gulch does not have this strategic point and is much more open. This focuses the fighting between the bases and thins length encourages the use of vehicles, nay enforces the use of vehicles. The single Missile Launcher in the middle of the map also means that vehicles must face vehicles, this in my opinion makes objective game types much better. Valhalla is not Blood Gulch and no amount of forging will change that, thats why we needed a map like Blood Gulch for Halo 3. Sorry for going a bit off-topic but people saying the two maps are the same don't know what they are talking about. |

Thank you. Only part I didn't agree with is the spamming working all you need is a sniper. |

Note: only vote if you have tried it out in Matchmaking. Vote on the basis of at least three games. So, if you hate the Fiesta gametype don't let that colour your opinions of the map. Try it out on the gloomy infection gametype (preferably in a dim/dark room so that you have a chance to see the zombies before they get you) and either an oddball or a king of the hill. This is because you cannot judge a map in isolation of a game (such as walking around it in Forge, looking at all the subtle details), but because the gametypes change the experience so much don't write it off as 'bad' if your first impressions are a frenetically random rockets free-for-all.
