Yeah, all gamers are hopeless retards that should spend our time on more productive things like read a book, watch movies or the television, listen to music, get drunk and/or high, fuck prostitutes or doing something aside from manipulating 1's and 0's for cultural enlightenment.
Sarcasm aside, the one thing that I find to be the thing that pushes gaming beyond most mediums of entertainment is that its something you have to do actively. With a book, TV, or movie, you just look at it. The most you do is interpret someone else's story. With music, you simply listen to the notes. It is something that require no input from the participant, and will not change. Games, in contrast, you have to do something for the game to play.
A Good game usually leave it to the player to put their own spin on how they should play. As in for fighting games, is the player going to turtle, rushdown, do shenanigans, use mind games, and the list goes on. You could play with the same characters with the same two people over and over, and never get the same result twice. Mix that up with a wealth of balanced characters, and a good amount of friends that also want to play, and you should never get the same experience twice. Unlike a movie, if you watch it twice, the most your going to notice the second time around that is any different is a continuity error.
To say that creating music is =/= to play games although true, doesn't support your argument. You make the argument sound that people that enjoy and consume music are all composers. Most people that happen to enjoy the media simply listen to it because they like how it sounds. I think most people would say that I am pointing out the obvious, but it seems you forgot about that demographic when creating your argument. A more valid and reasonable argument would be between is the artistic differences between creating music and creating a game.
Now for the argument that gaming is not worthy of being apart of culture is irreverent. The gaming industry is considered second to movies and television, many icons of the gaming are easily recognizable, and terms and phrases from gaming culture has transcended into mainstream society. Even if it is a mound of shit that is stinking up the rest of human culture, it's impact is present, and it being a part of human culture is now an immutable fact. So I am fine with calling myself a gamer. Although I may be associated with too many other people that can be described as freaks of nature; I don't mind because I'm busy having fun playing games (the whole point), and there is nothing wrong with that.

Oh also as a point of note, with my previous point saying that the only way zetta seems to be able to reply to a post is by calling the people making them names and saying how everyone is so un intelligent.... Faggot does not truly mean what you think it means look it up please..... Its term that has been used for many hundereds of years and it has only recently started meaning a derogatory term for people that are gay.

Also as your picking on gamers why don't your throw in a few other culture groups that are full of rejects, maybe like chav's, gangesters <not italian moffa>, drugies, acholoics, i mean the list could go on and on, living in a country that the two main culture groups you will meet if you walk on the streets at night are chav's and drunks and in most cases the two combined then I have to say I would rather be the person i am than any one of them, and if i had to be labeled at least i would rather be put into a group where despite your accusations most are pretty smart than with the ones that go out to make trouble for people and have no respect for their common man.
