You must choose one TV show, movie or book to be adapted into a video game. What would you choose?

Personally, I think Firefly could be made into an excellent action game. We have the interesting mix of locations (Wild West esque towns, spaceships and stations of all kinds, cosmopolitan Alliance cities...), interesting characters, and, if you got the original writing staff in, it'd be properly dramatic, exciting and hilarious.

Of course, there is the old grey and brown problem,, but it'd be grey and brown with interesting people in it.

Torchwood, being a fair bit more mature than my first choice of Doctor Who (after series 1 at least), would probably make a decent game.

If you played as Captain Jack, dying and respawning could actually be explained by his ability to recover from death. More importantly, though, you'd have the potential for a kick-arse sci-fi plot with more than enough room for decent gameplay. I'm thinking of a hybrid tactical shooter and adventure game. Sort of like Mass Effect in a way.

The film 300. You'd essentially just have to take Spartan: Total Warrior, make the graphics all dark and browny-orange, give the main character a red cloak and slap in plenty of homo-erotic imagery. Oh, and a million enemies.

You could just make the game one level long, and nobody would ever complain! XD

Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy: the Game. I don't know how they would do it, but I would reserve the limited edition.

Although i would not consider Torchwood more Mature than Doctor Who (yes, it has more mature themes, but is childish in execution)...yeah, it would make a decent game...as would Firefly, as long as you stick for the Universe, not the Chraracters.

My dream would be a Battlestar Galactica Game. Yes, it has been done twice with the new Series already, but none of them were really satisfying. I want something that brings back the good memories of Freespace 2, Starlancer or at least Colony Wars, and it would be cool to build the story like Enter the Matrix did by taking some lesser known Pilot and recreate the Story of BSG through his eyes, while he himself has a own story to tell (it worked with BSG: Razor)

And if they can't do that, give me a creative, adventure like Venture Brothers Game

I'm not sure, but I think there's already a point and click adventure game of Hitchhiker's Guide.

That depends. Is it one of those shitty movie games, or is it actually good?

That being said, Iron Man. There's already a game for it, but I want to see something that doesn't suck.

I think a Pendragon [It's a book.] game would actually be surprisingly good. There are a lot of intense battles, and the environments are all unique [Which is actually quite a stressed point in the series.], and not only that, but for the most part, they're bright and colorful. Of course there's still First Earth and Second Earth, which would have to be 'gritty for the realism', but even Third Earth is shiny and rich in colors. Of course, it's a book [series], so I don't really know what the environments actually look like, but that's how I imagine them.

Mars Attacks or Kill Bill would be pretty good.

Ooh maybe Tom Clancy should start turning one or two of his books into games...

The zombie survival guide, or its big brother World War Z. Either way, it would be a zombie survival game that follows the rules set down by the zombie survival guide, IE no running zombies. Just a massive city that you can do anything in (like steal cars). Oh, and zombies. So it's essentially GTA with a heap of zombies.

Oh, and while I'm mentioning Big Brother, maybe 1984? Dunno how it would work (and it probably wouldnt follow the plot of the book, just the setting) but I could see it as a stealth game... trying to avoid the thought police.

Always dreamed about an rts based on 'they day of the triffids' by John Wyndham ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_of_the_Triffids ). Other then that, I'dd rather see some original games made instead.

One of the main objectives could be recruiting other people for a resistance movement, only that you have to find out beforehand if these people may be undercover agents or symphathisants for the party...or something

If someone made a Sailor Moon action-RPG with gameplay similar to FFX-2 I would probably die of joy. I would play it, I would love it, I would regress back to being eight years old, I would not care a damn.

The prisoner could make a good video game, and from what I remember the general plot could translate fairly well. It could have the mechanic of no real death since the group wants the main character alive for his information. It could be kind of a sandboxy puzzle game with the focus on getting out.
The only down side I can see off hand would be it coming across as too much like Portal because of the overlying plot.

Normally I would say Firefly, but all I can picture for the game would be EVE, where you could get out of the ships, so maybe not so much on that one.

I'm for it. Who should we get to do the soundtrack? I nominate Graeme Norgate, the guy who does the Timesplitters music.

Ender's Game
by Orson Scott Card

Have the gameplay develop from a series of tactical and zero-g, fully realized 3-D battleroom training exercises, to real battleroom matches, to being commander of Dragon army with squad based commands issued.

Cut to a vicious scene of killing Bonzo(really rub it in the face of the ESRB with child murder), then a final battle 2 vs. 1 "enemy gate is down" moment to finish Battle School.

Cut scene to Val's visit to convince Ender to continue on:

New training in commanding a huge armada of ships in "simulations" against the Bugger threat. Introduction of the MD device...put's all other "ultimate" weapons to shame.

Obviously you'd play as Ender, but maybe take control of Bean to twine in the Shadow series as well. With the right voice acting and graphics, I think it'd be absolutely phenomenal.

It might turn out alright, as long as it has a unique storyline from the tv series. The problem with most movie-game adaptations comes in where the player gets to interact with the character from the show/movie. Then the story doesn't flow very well if the player tries to do something contrary to the storyline.

Now, a firefly game as the general area where the show takes place? That would be kinda cool, but I don't want to run into the characters from the show at all.

Um. This is going to sound embarassing. I have never played a timesplitters game. Yes, I know. I shall, though. Someday... In any case, I'm all for it if someone on the internet reccomends it.

If you go on Free Radical's website, you can listen to the soundtracks. You don't even have to download anything, innit great?

POKEMON, wait a minute never mind...

I think Tea Rose would make a decent horrer game or maybe a good point and click. And Stangly enough the book has a loot of scenes that woudl maek for a good GoW style mini games.

Actually there's a series of children's novels, "Redwall" and the like by Brian Jacques. I've fond memories of reading them like a dork in my schooling years... and if anyone else has read them you'll agree that these books would make a freakin awesome MMORPG.

If you want, you should check them out... pretty good reads even now, in my humblest opinion.

Seinfeld, now that would be a game of win! [/joke]

Seriously, though, SIn City would make a fuckin' awesome game, if it were done by actual game developers, instead of whoever they have making movie games these days

and text adventure :)

the funny part is ALL versions of Hitchhikers are different from one another AND all were done by Douglas Adams, even funnier fans still complain about the changes the writer himself made to his own work

If you couldn't guess by my display picture, I'd like to see a good Cowboy Bebop game made. I say 'good' assuming that the ones exclusive to japan are crap because they are, after all, based on an anime series. If there was a way to make flying a ship, fist fighting, and shooting all solid and fun along with planet hopping, tracking down bounty heads, maybe gambling a bit and still managing to keep the main story intact and well paced... well that would take a miracle really. If anyone thought to recommend Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter after reading that last bit know that if you do I will vomit dolphin blood and tar.

After my "Ender's Game" suggestion, that'd definitely be 2nd on my list. Phenomenal series, and you could make it a huge, immersive game.
