Anonymous Source Posts: 5 Joined: 27 Mar 2008 | I got my 360 the March after launch (because GAME are a wonderfully reliable store when it comes to pre-orders and had god knows how many thousand more pre-orders than consoles on release date, lucky me) and it's still working fine. It's been carted up and down the country in a suitcase on the train, used for days on end and generally treated the same way as all my other consoles. That said it did get the RRoD a couple of months ago after I'd been playing on it for over 12 hours, but then I count that as my own fault because I'm pretty sure that classes as 'unreasonable use' or something. I just restarted it and it was fine, no problems since. |

As an American I disagree completely. As for climate, a friend of mine who has had a similar lack of problems lives in Texas, while I'm on Long Island. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 83 Joined: 4 Jul 2008 | I've had my Xbox 360 since Christmas following the system's release, and the only thing it did was ding a guy's copy of HALO 2. And I don't really mind, because he'd read a lot of forums about how to preserve the life of your system, so he propped it up between bookends. It fell over during gameplay and snapped the disc. His fault. :D |

Same here, belive it or not I think they started working fine since late in December. I also thought they were gonna call them 180's after they Re-released brand new modles. |
Paperboy Posts: 11 Joined: 20 Mar 2008 | Ive had my xbox360 since christmas with no problems and it came with 3 yr warranty. Also I will not buy a PS3 until the price is lower because I went through so many ps2's like 3 compared to having my old original xbox to this day still working sweet. |

I replaced it with a ps3 because it has fewer games for me to spend my money on, and I'm a squeenix fanboy. Also, I love MGS4. Until it got the red ring of death, I was sure that I had the only stable Xbox 360 in existence, and then, my heart was broken, and I bought a Ps3 to spite Microsoft. |

The only time I've seen the Ring of Lights turn red was once when I turned it on without the AV cables connected to anything. The only problem I've had is that it doesn't like to be mounted vertically. The games tended to freeze up. Horizontally, they run fine. [/knocking on wood] |

How do you go from a console so durable you could beat a horse to death with it, then go play Halo to a console that if you look at it, it falls over and bursts into flames? Also, it seems that Xbox backwards compatible games like to be played horizontally, but if you play a 360 game horizontally for too long it damages the disc. Strange. Disk. Disc. They are both acceptable. |

Beat Writer Posts: 192 Joined: 12 Jun 2008 | I've had mine for about two years now with a detachable fan unit (I know some people have had problems with these, but mine has been fine so far) and I have yet to experience the HAL-like RROD. I realise by saying this I am tempting fate, so I am praying my 360 is still fine when I get back home... |

Beat Writer Posts: 191 Joined: 30 Jun 2008 | I've had my Elite since around October, and it still works great. (Except when the games sometimes freeze, but that may be more my fault.) |
Paperboy Posts: 36 Joined: 21 Jun 2008 | I've had my 360 since launch and I've been pretty rough with it to be honest. It still works perfectly fine though, I don't do much other than play games on it though. I don't put it upright or use any special procedures or blocks when I start playing it, I just play it...I don't get why other people can't do that without their's breaking. Sometimes I play for over 15 hours at a time and it's fine. |

I think this is more about who talking than the area affected. Seriously, people in the US are just whiney. Myself included. I had to get my 360 repaired just last week when it decided that it no longer wanted to work for more htan an hour at a time. I would be playing a game and, once that hour mark hit, it would freeze and tell me I had to clean the disc. |
Beat Writer Posts: 146 Joined: 15 Feb 2008 | about a year and a half, sometimes it hiccups on older origional games, but it seems to work pretty well so far. oh, it crashed twice. but other than that... |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1557 Joined: 2 Jan 2008 | I've had my 360 for about a year and a half and never had a problem... that's surprising, considering how often I take it with me when I go places. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1331 Joined: 26 Mar 2008 | Had mine since october, i get disk read errors sometimes because i think the DVD drive is dying but i use the cardboard trick and that seems to stop it. I swear these consoles are getting worse than old PCs, at least if my DVD drive fucks up on my PC i can replace it quickly. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 796 Joined: 26 Apr 2008 | My 360 runs fine. Had it for almost two years and I've never needed to send it in for repairs. I think it's mainly because I got a cooling fan on the back of it (one of those 3rd party attachments). I can play all day and it's not noticeably hotter. However, before I go the extra fan it was like a small room heater. I could boil water, fry eggs, all that jazz. |

Press Junketeer Posts: 468 Joined: 14 May 2008 | My Xbox 360's been functioning fine since I got it around Christmas; so I haven't really had it that long but I've never had any substantial problems. |
Paperboy Posts: 19 Joined: 18 May 2008 | That's the problem, millions of owners, a few thousand complain, then the issue is blown out of proportion. That said, of my 6 xbox 360 owning friends, 4 have had replacements due to RROD. Microsoft did a woopsie, that's certain. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 405 Joined: 27 Apr 2008 | My xbox has never failed on me, I had the red rings once, because of my idiot brothers stupid friend, but I just left it for an hour. It freezes once in a blue moon, but I never have any real trouble with it. Most of the time it comes down to the enviroment its in and how people look after it. |

I've had my 360 for two and a half years now and it's never seriously annoyed me. It's overheated twice (both entirely my fault; never leave it in an airtight room), one solved just by restarting it, the other involved a ten minute cool-down and it was ready for action again.
I should probably point out that I live in the UK and on average I play maybe 4-5 hours a day, possibly, nay probably, more. It went for an entire 27 hour sitting once and had no problems. It's fallen a metre or so once, been hurled about in a bag four times before I remembered it was in there and has never eaten any of my disks. Unfortunately, my brother wanted to play on my copy of Perfect Dark Zero the first day he got his 360 and his 360 made one hell of a meal out of that. A bit of toothpaste later and it was running again with no apparent frame rate issues or loading problems. It took me three months to trust my brother's 360 again. Since then it has also eaten his copy of Oblivion and Vegas. Not my games, so fine by me!
I can't say I treat it the best in the world; I don't give it its own wind tunnel or an airbag-lined platform to rest on. However, I haven't done anything particularly wrong with it either (except what was mentioned above). I guess half of it's up to care and half of it's up to luck.
Still Weasel MK. II (don't ask) seems to be holding its own. Of course, sod's law states that tomorrow, when I have a party, it will get RRODed.
