Well, why fucking not? I'm a PC gamer and a console gamer and have dozen of mates who play both and i've never all my years met a PC gamer filled with hate towards consoles. |

On top of the fact that PC games can offer relatively more content and that it is only natural for some one to take up sides with something that they have invested in, it seems obvious why some PC gamers feel superior to console gamers. I know that when I attempted to become a PC gamer it is a much larger investment and one that I was not willing to make. So perhaps PC owners deserve to act a little snobbish, because I am sure they put more effort into there gaming experience then the average console gamer. User was banned for: I'm Finished. YES! Thank you, someone got it. Yes they can act snobbish but they tend to rub it our faces. Some of them do anyway, not all |
Paperboy Posts: 42 Joined: 29 Dec 2007 | I hate the whole PC interface. I mean, I know it makes for a lot more customization of the controls and whatnot, but I'm a sucker for two analog sticks and some buttons on a simple handheld device. It's just easier for me, especially since my computer is a laptop without a mouse. I actually downloaded a couple fps's for my computer and it was almost impossible to control the guy because I had my hands stacked on each other. I realize that the PC has like the best lineup of fantasy rpg's like Diablo. I'd love to buy them and I think I could even get into WoW, but I don't have the money for that. Right now, I sure as hell can't afford a PC with the graphics capabilities and processor speeds that are needed. I can't even afford the upgrades for my laptop. Hell, I can't even afford a MOUSE for my laptop. I got bigger fish to fry. So, for now I'm just going to enjoy my 360 and hope that one day I can get a computer with which I will become a world famous Ninja Sorceror Paladin Jedi...thing. |

Only if your stupid. You can get great value on computre parts (ang games) if you buy them from a Computer show. You can get all the parts for a top end gaming PC for about $1000 to $1200, that's a saving of over 800 dollars. I don't play on my PC that much, I only have 5 series Nvidia graphics card and a gig of ram so I can't play many new titles, but I do play the older clasics such as Fallout, Doom, System shock etc. In my opinion these older games are much beter than most of the new ones so the argument that you need a good PC to play good PC games annoys me. |

Oh, it's not secret, I can assure you.
It's more the mentality the current crop of consoles encourage. Oh, and the fact that you lot make it profitable for development companies to actually make games exclusively on console when they do, in fact, belong on PC. I point you to Assassin's Creed - imagine how much more it could've been had it been designed for PC first. Historically, I point you towards Deus Ex: Invisible War and Thief: Deadly Shadows - both developed for a console compared to their respective predecessors being developed on PC. The differences are apparent and, in some instances, deal-breaking. Also, fellow Australian, so don't cry to me about hardware costs. |

In some ways i wish it could have, prolly would have had alot more depth and be more replayable. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 4284 Joined: 2 Dec 2007 | As much as I'd like to be, I''m terrible at playing FPS's on the PC. I can barely pull off to actions at once, while on a console, I can cook diner and kick raw arse at the same time with one hand. |
Paperboy Posts: 28 Joined: 29 Dec 2007 | I know the fight has sorta finished now, If you want proof that PC gamers don't give a whoop, GO make a post at http://forums.nvidia.com , all the guys there are hardcore gamers. But then some people are just jerks. |

And I find it funny that you are complaining about pc games ported for consoles, while most games nowadays are first made for consoles and are later ported (usualy badly) to the pc. The trent of porting older pc games to consoles has just started recently for as far as I can tell. In fact, I believe GRAW was first made for the 360 and later ported to the pc (wich was done rather well). |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 674 Joined: 15 May 2008 | My best friend is a PC gamer, I, xbox 360. We both agree that both are great to play games on but we defend to the death which is better. I think that consoles are better for FPS simply because the idea of using a mouse to move seems really stupid to me. But, I've played games on PC too. EE2, ftw. I much prefer those kind of games on PC. I love how fun it is to piss a PC user off. Just mention HL2 on xbox and have at it! En guard! *Edit* they use xbox live as their defense. Admittedly, we're let down by that cage match. Btw, I <3 you PurpleRain. You have a fangirl XD -Rad |

Paperboy Posts: 42 Joined: 29 Dec 2007 | I do like RTS's for the computer, though. I don't think I've found a console RTS that's quite as good control-wise as a PC RTS. But then, the controls for RTS's are by nature a little more complicated than an FPS, and they don't require such fast reactions. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 109 Joined: 11 Jun 2008 | Consoles get plenty of games that PC gamers may never get their hands on. Force unleashed is a good example. That is a ground braking game that PC may never get to play as it is announced on every console but PC. As a PC gamer myself I'm well aware of games that consoles get and PCs don't. It swings both ways. Also your complaint about crappy ports would be far worse if you were a PC gamer. So many games have been ported from consoles to PC lazily and it jus spoils the games, example are Resi 4, Halo 1 and 2, and numerous others. As I said before it swings both ways, so stop thinking your so hard done by just because you only play consoles. |
Muckraker Posts: 306 Joined: 2 Apr 2008 | I don't do a great deal of PC gaming, I must admit. Aside from playing silly online games, most of my PC gaming died years ago. But let us treasure the memories... Ascendancy. Three amazing games. Their Console equivalents (where they existed) never came close. The PC version had so many nice little things about them that the Console didn't that it spoiled it for me. Now, I play a good amount of Dawn of War (mainly Dark Crusade. I don't like the "Rush Spamming" AI in Soulstorm), and a lot of Rome: Total War. I think both could be done on a Console, but ONLY, and here's the problem, if it was a direct port; no fucking the graphics over, no editing the game so it is slightly different, no removing the ability to play against 7 AI opponents in a one-off match. But they don't listen. They ALWAYS fuck over the little details, and that's enough to ruin the game. Now, I for one do NOT think PCs are better for gaming. I think PC's are quite often steaming piles of shit for gaming! Sorry, but my PS2 never turned around and said "actually, I'm not going to let you install Dynasty Warriors 5, so go to hell!". I like the PSX version of Doom more than the PC one, because 1) I feel FPS games are just flat-out better on a console, and 2) they revamped the sound effects and music to make them so much cooler, and scarier. Where it not for the fact they left out 1/3rd of Ultimate Doom and Doom 2 (same with Final Doom), and cut out some of the baddies (Arch Vile and Icon of Sin), I'd call the console versions perfect. Alas, nobody's willing to make a full port onto PS2... or even re-port onto the PSX. They got a 100% authentic port of Doom 2 on the GBA, but the controls are so bad it hurts to play. I guess my main problem with PC-to-console conversions is the guy doing it doesn't give it any love; we want the REAL game, not a cheap knock-off. |

You have kind of answered your own question with that question. Pc's generally have more flexible hardware (not better) so you can do more with it. When doom came out most of the people that played it all ready had a computer and did not buy one for the purpose of playing doom, so the cost of entry to play doom was the price of the game (free if you wanted individual levels and not all the weapons, and I think approx $20 for the retail version). A gaming console on the other hand is claimed by many on occasion to be bought for a specific game. So let's take the doom example $100 for the console, and then about $30 let's say for the copy of doom. So that's 130 to play doom on a hypothetical console vs 20 to play on the pc. So from a purely monetary stance it does seem a bit silly, just looking at it in the short term instance of one game. Generally though I think it's just the usual us vs them bs. though I may not be the best person to comment on this because for a few years, I was playing consoles that were hooked up to the tv tuner card on my pc. Though I'm not sure if that counts as console or pc gaming at that point because both are involved. |

I play both PC and console games all the time. I don't judge people by what system they use, I judge them by their gaming skill and if they are annoying to play multiplayer with or not.
