I enjoyed X as much as i enjoyed I, II, and VII (i have yet to play others) and other Square games like Chrono Trigger. Their characters are not as col but that is their only downfall. Hell even X-2 had great gameplay. Final Fantasy XII however is not a Final Fantasy IMO it does not deserve to be called that and it simply does not feel like one. And Kingdom Hearts are by far the best series of games aiming at a market that includes children. I agree with Lucasarts. They were great before sub par Star wars games. The only Star Wars game i have enjoyed is KoTOR and to a lesser extent empire at war. |

I really don't have much respect for Nintendo any more. I know they've done great things in the past. The problem is, they know it too. Enjoy the 17th Pokemon game! It comes out a week after Mario Badminton, Mario Scrabble and Mario Croquet. |

I have to second you there, but Conviction looks like a load of crap. Did you see how they raped Sam Fisher's character? It doesn't even make sense to the character's gruff personality. Guess we'll have to stick to replaying the trilogy of Splinter Cells, before they went bad. Anyway, I'd have to say Bungie and Squaresoft. Both used to make some very brilliant games, but have both caved into franchise proliferation. I'm absolutely sick of it. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 6 Joined: 6 Jul 2008 | I agree with you J'aen, Nintendo has done great things in the past because they did not let just any gaming company realease their games on the N64 or other consoles, Nintendo used to cooperate closely with those companies, if they did not make the games themselves. Now they let any incompetent fool commercialize his crappy game without any second thoughts, that's why now there are so less good games in a torrent of bad ones. The other company that deceived me is DICE. With the release of Battlefield: Bad Company, which is only available for Xbox360, all the PC fans of BF2 get this crappy freeware game called BF Heroes instead of a whole new game. |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 740 Joined: 16 Apr 2008 | Blizzard Entertainment. They think they're the greatest company ever, but all they do is continuously re-hash the same two franchises over and over. Kind of like what Square Enix is doing with Final Fantasy VII. However, Square Enix is still pumping out new games all the time. When's the last time BE's come out with anything new? 1995 by my watch. Actually, that's the only new thing they ever did. Yes they've re-hashed some good games, but damn... Don't hate me for saying that Blizzard Entertainment is equal to the liquid diarrhoea coming out of my rectum. |

They treat you like crap just because they make decent games, but frankly all their new IP's like TF (not even new) and counter-strike (the same) have been fan made mods by their only IP ever created in existance (Half-Life), they are no good for nothing treat you like a dog lazy ***es. |
Paperboy Posts: 36 Joined: 25 Jun 2008 | electronic arts. the biggest game company spits out so many games and only concentrates on the big titles like BF series (wich are rather good with the coöporation of DICE), need for speed and stuff like that. quality maybe high but there are some realy stupid things for example in FIFA street 1 of 2 i can't remember wich if you shoot on the goal and the score already updates or stays the same before you miss or score(what did they do at the development. picking thier nose?) but i got some EA games at home but it's almost inevitable to not to own these games, they are the big dominator in the game industry |

I'd agree with you if I had respect for EA in the first place. Kind of hard to lose something that you never had. |

you're right but i have developed some hate for a few things like: the music charts 'cuz i think it's all commercial crap loved by "gamer haters" |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 740 Joined: 16 Apr 2008 | I've lost a little bit of respect for Nintendo because of what they did to Sonic the Hedgehog. They bought their oldest competition, Sega, out and decided to mutilate their mascot. I used to like Sonic. He had a lot of fun platforming games, but damn if Nintendo didn't just kick his ass by giving him a putrid, prepubescent voice and skater dialogue. Not to mention a slew of assy games. I think Nintendo let the 360 and PS3 have "Sonic the Hedgehog" because it was just that bad. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 88 Joined: 11 Jul 2008 | Well, aside from Square-Enix, which I agree with vasudean about how they milked FF7, among other reasons. But another company I lost respect for is Capcom. They totally ruined Resident Evil's storyline, so much so that I refuse to even acknowledge RE4, Umbrella Chronicles, and anything else they'll put out from here on out. Onimusha was destroyed too. It went from being like a dark action movie, to being like a cheesy Anime. And I was never a fan of Mega-Man, but every fan that I did talk to said that Capcom ruined that too. |

Um..Nintendo never bought Sega out, Sammy did. Sega/Sammy is digging it's own grave right now; they don't need the help of anyone else. Seeing "Sega" on a game used to mean it was a quality title. Now.... And yes, Sega is the company I've completely lost respect for. |

Muckraker Posts: 257 Joined: 12 Apr 2008 | Blizzard. They have gone downhill since WoW. They have a large reliance on the fans, which is fine, but when they do one thing with the graphics and then spend another year working on them to make them how they should have been to begin with you really start wondering what the hell is going on. I'm pretty disappointed in how D3 looks. When watching the gameplay video, I was expecting a joke... sort of like what they did with the Taurens in space. I was expecting them to say "This is what Diablo would look like with Warcraft characters." This was not the case. Good gameplay? I suppose. WoW was pretty bad. The last great game they've made was D2. WC3 was average at best. If SC2 is simply average, we'll know that Blizzard has lost it. So, yeah. Blizzard. |

Also EA, I actually enjoy battlefield 2142, but it's irksome having to constantly get patches and block IP addresses to stop the adware/spyware that comes with the game. Also, I heard they're doing some dastardly shit with Spore, which I was actually kinda looking forward to as well. (Also, that word I invented after Nukem comes up with "no suggestions" in spellcheck, take THAT Firefox!) |

I'm looking forward to seeing how they f*ck up Mirrors Edge. And Eidos, well after 25 to Life I lost all respect in them what-so-ever. |

Ya they are a 3 trick pony, but you know what? Unlike every other company out there that milks their money cow to death over and over and over again producing weaker and weaker incarnations, Blizzard adds, grows, makes them better, and doesn't ever release a game until it's as close to perfection as humanly possible |
Paperboy Posts: 38 Joined: 10 Jul 2008 | EA is my number one hate. I bought Mass Effect, not realising that Bioware had been bought by EA, and nearly returned when I found out. As -=EVERY=- EA game for the past 8 years has been aimed entirely at brain dead f*uckwhits (see the Sims, Battlefield Series, recent C&C games, Medal of Honor, Crysis, need I go on?), I really haven't played an game that didn't feel like a chore to play, and thus avoid anything with the EA official stamp of sh*ttyness. |

Paperboy Posts: 22 Joined: 19 Jun 2008 | I'd say I've lost faith in Konami mostly due to the latest edition of Pro Evolution Soccer. It's hard to believe that a franchise that continually evolved (hence the title) each year has been made an arcade like mess by the same people who made it legendary. On the other hand EA has improved the FIFA franchise beyond anyone's expectations over the past 3 years, to the extent that it's a worthy rival to the once great Pro Evo. Hoping to see a big improvement for the 2009 edition of PES otherwise FIFA is going to take over the seat as the number one football title (it's always beaten PES in sales but PES until recently was regarded as the better title by almost every gaming publication and the initiated PES gamers) As for EA, I kind of understand why people hate the company, it does use aggressive tactics and the like and it does have a large market share in the gaming world. I personally don't have a problem with them though because their sports games are generally good and they do have a number of great franchises (Burnout, Battlefield, Need for Speed, Lord of the Rings, the Sims). And I do agree with Jezz8me who said Final Fantasy XII didn't feel like a FF game. FF is really a fan game no matter how you look at it, the people who buy it buy it because they love the story and gameplay. They don't have a problem with turn-based combat and random battles, they wouldn't play the game otherwise. So there was no need to change the battle system and game mechanics to try and lure in a new audience, face it FF is never going to be a simple action-adventure with a deep story, it's always going to be an RPG and it should remain so. I have completed VIII and X, got almost to the ends of VII and IX and even managed to get at least somewhere on X-2 (no matter how much I disagreed with a direct FF sequel!) but I just can't bring myself to play anymore of FF XII. I didn't wait a whole 4 years to play a game that just didn't feel like an FF game...sadly disappointed and glad that I don't have a PS3 so I won't be able to play XIII because if the games continue in the fashion of X-2 and XII then I'm not interested. The best FF's to me will always be VII through X. And yes I hate all the milking of the FFVII franchise aswell and all the manga/anime fans that it has brought to the FF franchise as a whole. |

Wow your missing out on about 25% or more of the games now a days then. I cant belive you would be such a moron to return Mass Effect, your loss on a great game. You sound like a preaty prejudice person to avoid a game company for no reason. Dont be stupid and avoid a game just because a certain game company makes it. That goes for ALL of you. Do your research and find out what games are good based on what you like and reviews, NOT what company makes it. PS: Battlefield is a good series, and Crysis is a good game. (I got a PC that can run it on max YAY) You just got a big chip on your sholder for no reason. |
I was typing in a response to another thread that said what game I didn't like that everyone else didn't like and after elaborating on why I didn't like it, it turned into how I've completely lost respect for said company. So here, I would like to know what gaming company or companies have you've completely lost respect for.
To start out, the company I lost respect for is Square-Enix. When I was growing up, there were several games from Squaresoft that I liked, including a game that I consider to be my favorite game of all time, Secret of Mana. To me, games from them were pure gold and just fun and fascinating to play (I like playing RPGs alright?). It wasn't until after FF3 (FF6 now, but who cares) that I noticed that their games started being a little lackluster and not as fun as their previous games, it wasn't until after 9 that I just stopped playing future main FF games (I still play Tactics Advance because of how much fun I get from stripping my opponent of all things they have that's useful). Partly because I didn't have the money to keep up, but mostly because their games became terrible and they've vomited all over franchises that I genuinely enjoyed playing including, but not limited to, the Mana games (I have yet to see a truly good Mana game past SD3). Apparently now, the only Final Fantasy game they truly care about is Final Fantasy 7. For the love of all that is holy, WHY DO THEY NEED TO MILK THIS PARTICULAR DOWN TO IT'S LAST LUMPY DROPS!! They need to get their act together if they plan to stick around on my gaming radar.
