He ain't kidding by the by, it's official according to sudden updates on pretty much every gaming site.

Despite the fact im not a fan of final fantasy, this is a big blow. That was one of their major japanese exclusives.

At E3 the guy from square enix announced final fantasy for 360. I care very little as i hate final fantasy and im fairly sure there was already a final fantasy game on 360 so i dont even no what the fuss is.

The fuss is that PS3 lost its last system-selling exclusive. Either you're extremely dense, or you're playing dumb. It's a pretty big deal for reasons that are very obvious to anybody with even a passing interest in gaming.

As far as I've known, the only Final Fantasy for the Xbox so far has been XI, and that's a multi-platform MMORPG, so I wouldn't even consider that counting much. Though, they also had FF7 and FFXI for PC, so I'm not surprised at all.

I also don't see why the PS3 will die. It looks like it's really picking up at this point; y'know, until they announced that FFXIII will be for the 360. Actually, I still don't see the big deal. The PS3 one would be almost undoubtably better anyway.

The reason why the PS3 will die is the following...

Why buy a PS3 in this market, especially now with the 360 price cut.

The Metal Gear series is done with and now they just lost their biggest exclusive, whereas Microsoft has another Halo game, The Gears Series, Mistwalker Titles, Bioware Titles... the list goes on. Exclusives are what REALLY sells systems, hardware is NOT as important as game lineup, and Sony has yet to notice that.

PS3's only remaining salvation is the obscure japanese title market (Valkyria Chronicles, SMT Series etc.)

Yeah, I just finished watching the entire E3 show from microsoft, the new dashboard looks great.
The Gears of War 2 footage was awesome too, incredible.

I personally do not care about Final Fantasy, but this is a big kick in the nuts for Sony.

I know one thing, the only reason I was seriously considering ever getting a PS3 was for FFXIII. Now, I can live without.

1. Microsoft announces (temporary) 50 dollar price cut

2. Gets Infinite Undiscovery, Tales of, and Star Ocean 2 exclusive

3. Now has FFXIII on 360, stopping anyone with a 360 from "converting".

Unless sony takes away Gears of War or Banjo Kazooie or something I'll agree that this is a big nail in Sony's coffin. I'm a PS3 owner and I love the thing but Sony isn't supporting it with the love that Microsoft is giving the 360.

I won't lie and say i'm not pissed, I am. I think it's utter bullshit and more bullshit.

But the PS3 is FAR from done for, there are still plenty of exclusives that i am positive will be shown at Sony's confrence. So i'm not saying anything until all the confrences are done for and then i can rag on about how M$'s confrence was crap with some delicious cookies, good in some places but bad in others.

But overall, it was a good conference. I'm still pissed and absolutely hate MS, but it was a good conference overall with some annoyances (or many, whatever)

Oh well, next stop NINTENDO

Well, I'm still waiting to see which of the Big Two I want to buy. I'd buy a PS3 just to play my PS2 games again though.

It's not going to KILL the PS3... just cement its 3rd place status for this generation.

You could buy a 360 and two playstation 2s for less than a PS3.

I think he's refering to Final Fantasy VERSUS 13.

So far only the FF13 one is confirmed for 360, versus is still exclusive apparently.

Yeah, but the PS3 also has several games that I like. And why have a PS2 and a 360 when the only games I'd really like out of the two are for both consoles. Besides, I already have Final Fantasy XI for PS2, and I could just reinstall it on there if I ever got it.

But like I said, I dunno which I'd get at this point. They both have their ups and downs.

I did here the whisperings for the last while about an "Exclusive Final Fantasy XIII product for each system" but Squeenix is playing that one real close.

I don't see that much of a problem. For me it just shows that Microsoft and their money can just buy everything they want which seems a little childish. Though I also don't see how Sony is the one getting crippled...Kinda silly really since even though it was once a one console only deal means that Microsoft had to ask Sony for the rights to have the game on their console which for me makes me happy since it seems they can actually talk and agree on something. Also exclusives don't always sell so well. It forces companies to lose many chances to gain money because that company is collared by that one company. I have a ps3 and I don't think it's that big of a problem.

Sigh yet another me too release for the 360. 360 has a brand identity problem, I would have rather seen something like the Witcher. It's good that more people will get to enjoy the game though. I do suspect that the net effect of FFXIII for the 360 will be the same as GTA IV in the form of not that much. If all of the same games are on the two consoles it really is just going to magnify the non gaming functions of the two products. Hell people were going insane over Halo 3 and the supposed Halo effect, yet there was no all consuming nuclear explosion for every other console in existence. I would argue that Halo 3 might even be bigger than the FF franchise of late and the "Halo effect" didn't exactly sement their unquestioned dominance. Especially when one considers that Sony managed to outsell the 360 during calendar year 07 with far less than they have now.

I would love to see how many people claim the 360 is dead if and when Mass Effect ends up going multiplatform.

Yeah there's still God of War 3, that one unnanounced thing that the SotC team is working on, and Killzone 2 if that still has anyone interested.
