The few games that I have for my Wii (Zelda, RE4, SSBB, Mario Galaxy, Metroid 3 and a few party games) are all really fun and are awesome to play with friends/family, and I have no regrets in buying them. It's just that, well...now I really have nothing to look forward too for my Wii, and that severely disappoints me. I'm hoping some good third party developers come around with something awesome. Until then, I'll just play my Xbox 360. I can't wait for Fallout 3 and Dead Space. |

Same here, I have the same games, plus No More Heroes, I actually was looking forwards to Kid Icarus or a new F-Zero, or STar Fox, or something. I mean, I've been so bored with it that I downloaded Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time from the Virtual Console, and just bought Resident Evil 4. I'm just going to sit at my PC then...waiting for a new one. And Fallout 3. |

I could understand why women are mildly irked at the fact that part of the E3 conference circled around them like vultures. "Oh look, now there are more women playing the games we've released on the DS. Perhaps it's time we made games for them!" How could you make something sound less sexist? Next thing I know I'm getting an e-ml from gamestop telling me that these new DS games came in (next to a page about football games for all consoles), all with women on the package: Master Chef All in one go. If this is 'making games to make female customers happy', then we have indeed dropped back to the 1970s-80s sexist toy franchise. Because that's all women supposedly like: rearing children, nursing sick things back to health, clothing, cooking, and the beauty of figure skating. You would think that if statistics showed women enjoy the good games that were out already, perhaps Nintendo and company should release more of those games and not 'games catering to women'. It simply makes them look terrible. As for there being no hardcore, I'd have to agree with a percentage of the thread already: just because it was not brought up in E3 does not mean it will not be in production. There are some good third party games coming out. I am personally waiting for the next "Tales of Symphonia", which will be coming out in September. I also know that Nintendo will be focusing more on rpgs this fall, winter, and in 2009. So while I wait, I can sit back and enjoy what games I have and perhaps get another good one such as No More Heroes. |

Millisecond. Both the time measurement and the company name are used often enough to warrant some differentiation between their abbreviations. |

Can we just agree M$ fits better and get on topic? |
Press Junketeer Posts: 399 Joined: 6 Jul 2008 | No, because I've yet to see a convincing argument that it does. |

They've stayed by Nintendo's side all these years, even when things got rough (Gamecube), hoping that one day, their faith would pay off and Nintendo would ascend to it's previous glory. Well, they got their wish and now they are being treated worse than ever. Nintendo sold them out. |

Paperboy Posts: 36 Joined: 4 Jun 2008 | I understand that you people grew up with Nintendo(tm) and all. You were children back then and were playing these simple games for children. You grew fond of your marios and other characters and it brings back memories when you play them or W/E. If you aren't going apeshit for what Nintendo(tm) is offering to you for 2008 then I'm afraid to tell you that you are older than 5 years of age and not a retard. Young children is the target group of Nintendo(tm) and you've got to accept that. They are not going to make "Managing Auschwitz". You wore diapers when you were a baby, what do you think happens when you tell pampers to start making jeans? Nothing. So put down your Wii Remote grab that mouse/360/ps3 controller and blow someones brains all over the floor because you are not going to get that from Nintendo(tm) |

Muckraker Posts: 246 Joined: 24 Jan 2008 | Well, we saw this coming anyway. The wii now is just a novelty toy rather than it is a gaming system. And as much as i love nintendo, and the Wii, I tear up everytime just thinking of e3 08 for nintendo. CHances are nintendo will show case some new games at TGS. Who knows what might happen. It just wasn't a good E3 for nintendo. |
Muckraker Posts: 244 Joined: 29 Jun 2008 | Well...I'm never going to jump ship, partly because I have faith that Nintendo will do something at Lepzig...also because I'm broke :[. Not really, just don't feel like blowing $300-$400. But I also have a PC. SO I get all the brain-blowing action I want. |
Paperboy Posts: 49 Joined: 9 May 2008 | To Nintendo, E3 isn't for the hardcore gamer anymore. And I think they've proved their point fairly well with that poor excuse of a conference they had. I swear I almost puked at the sight of Cammie Dunham playing Shaun White Snowboarding. But anyway, I was mad at first, but I've accepted the fact that Nintendo has a strategy and will come out with hardcore games eventually. Until then, Xbox 360. |

Paperboy Posts: 20 Joined: 2 Jul 2008 | Everyone kind of feared this and so did I. I mean they launch the Wii Console with Zelda and the like and announce upcoming dates for Super Smash Brothers and Metroid and Mario and the like so we had that to look forward, but even before they were released people were wondering and worried about what they had after all of that. I guess we got our answer. Nothing. Unless they're keeping some really good stuff under their belt as they tend to do and I'm not talking about another freaking Mario Party. Mario has Partied ENOUGH. Turning into Lindsay Lohan. Ugh. SO yeah. This was kind of expected. They really just don't have anything to new. We're just have to wait for the obligatory titles again. Another Zelda eventually, if not until next generation. Maybe another Mario. Metroid? Who Knows. Nintendo knows where the money is at and it's the mainstream. They're doing what's good for Nintendo. They pretty much already got the Hardcore Gamers to get their console at launch with the promise of "A" Titles, now that they've already got us, Mainstream is the only thing left and their doing all that they can to get it, even if it means putting the Hardcore Gamers to the side a bit. Reggie tried his best to play off Animal Crossing as being directed to the Hardcore but no one's buying that crap. I mean no one is believing it. Of course people will still actually purchase the game. |
Paperboy Posts: 30 Joined: 15 Feb 2008 | I find myself barely bothering to play the wii very much anymore. The last decent title was SSBB and how long ago did that come out? Another funny thing is that when people say casual gaming, they actually mean crap that has shallow game play that they could not pass off as a full game. Sadly the wii has lots of "casual gaming" I'd go nuts if I didn't have my PC. Can't wait for Spore and STALKER Clear Sky. |

Nah, the guy in the suit was Fils-Aime. Nintendo has realized that for half the work they can make twice the money. They don't care much for 'games are art' when there's fat sacks of cash to be made. It's rare to find people who do. |

WAAAAAHH I HAVE NO OTHER HOBBIES BUT VIDEO GAMES I NEED A NEW BLAND SHOOTER EVERY MONTH TO KEEP ME ENTERTAINED WAAAAH!!!!!111!!one!!! I'd say you're about 10 years old right now, as nobody who's mature uses "retard" as an insult so cheerily. |

Uhh...yes? I swore off game consoles entirely after getting the Dreamcast (Yes, I know. I still like it.), but the E3 where they announced the Wii in 2004. I was incredibly excited for a console that was actually trying something new and interesting, and bought one as soon as I could both find and afford one at the same time. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 618 Joined: 13 Nov 2007 | Well, I didn't pay much attention to E3 so I'm just going by what I heard, but it did seem a little strange that they waited until after the show to announce their next big title. Then again, everyone and their dog has treated E3 like a joke ever since they castrated it, so I don't see it mattering much. |

Because that's simply the way it is, with the majority! Take FPS for example (or real-life sports or cars). Why is it so hugely popular with men? Because it directly taps into spatial skills, just like the old days of hunters&gatherers. We're basically still developing skills to throw spears at zebras. Now don't say "I'm a girl and I like FPS" or that you know a lot (some). Exceptions exist, a lot, they're cool, and yes, it would be very unfair to judge individuals by some avarage statistics. However, big companies don't look at individuals. They have to look at that avarage.
Most of the girl-gamers I know aren't exactly sterotype girls anyway, so saying "they like it, why not the rest?" would be pretty off-target |

Comparing the E3 press conference is like comparing apples, oranges, and puppies.
2 of them are fruit but taste different.
Puppies seem to not be for some but most are quite happy with their cuteness.
