You are kidding right? There are 3,804 people playing Halo 2 right now, a game released in 2004. Halo 3 has over 2 million online games a day. If you can find some numbers for TF2 id be glad to discuss them with you :) |

Lol you feel into his trap. Stubee you would have to be right about TF2 before his cookie giving endeavor counts. |
Beat Writer Posts: 145 Joined: 19 Jun 2008 | TF2 beats the crap out of halo3. and yeah, consoles are technically computers (Processor, Motherboard, etc.) but not a pc |
Paperboy Posts: 24 Joined: 29 Mar 2008 | Haven't played Halo 3 or TF 2 but I'll go with TF2 since I grew up with Half-Life and TF 1, and as for the whole console/pc thing the Xbox has pretty much the same hardware as a desktop system it just doesn't have the same user interface. |
Paperboy Posts: 26 Joined: 9 Jul 2008 | tf2 all the way. come on, its way better |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1488 Joined: 29 Dec 2007 | Hard choice, but if I had to I'd pick Halo. If you've got some friends onlines then Halo will beat mostly anything. Also at the start you basicly said "TF2>HALO 3 Because!", you can just say you have more fun than the other, but saying that one sucks and not backing it up is tinder for a flamewar. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2971 Joined: 22 Jun 2008 | Tf2 is more enjoyable to me. Halo feels like work half the time and everyone only wants to play mindless slayer. |
Beat Writer Posts: 219 Joined: 10 Jun 2008 | 1. Can I opt for a "Neither" option? But the difference is breaking down this generation. If you look at the PS3, which can install linux, have a keyboard and mouse, be attached to a monitor and run at modern desktop resolutions, I'd say the PS3 is BOTH a console and a general purpose PC, if one wants to take the effort to make it the latter. Like the Air Force has... Which, I just realized, brings us back to the 2nd or 3rd generation of gaming, i.e. the Vic20/C64 era where you could treat the Commodore like a console and just run carts/disks, or like a PC and use the BASIC interpreter or a C compiler to write your own programs. |

Not many games allow 4 people on a TV and for some reason CoD4 only allows 1 person per Xbox in system link. Now granted, I've never played TF2, so I wouldn't know what you can do on that. The online community may be better, but would someone mind telling me about the offline capabilities if there are any? |
King of the Yetis Posts: 2103 Joined: 15 Jul 2008 | Halo 3 isn't a game that rewards long term time investment in my opinion. Team Fortress 2 on the other hand does. That being said there's always a place for Halo 3 in my gaming schedule. Sometimes you just want to fuck up some zombies in infection. Could do with less shotty sniper though. |

Smart man. You get a free cookie for that. Don't worry, it's imaginary, so I didn't poison it. |

Muckraker Posts: 239 Joined: 21 May 2008 | For online play I'd say TF2 is the best, but for playing with other people on the same console (or linked consoles) Halo 3 is probably more fun. |
Beat Writer Posts: 206 Joined: 7 Jun 2008 | i guess i couldn't get onto TF2 because of the lag, but I'm going with halo 3 here because it just much more options. |

There are still loads of CS1.6 servers. And most of them are populated. That mod is how old now? TF2 will still have players, just like CSS, CS1.6, TF1, HL2DM, Halo 1 PC... Hell people will most likely still be playing TF2 when Teamspeak 3 finally has some form of release and thats pretty damn hard to fault =/ |

TF Classic is abandoned though... Innovation is your friend. I will refuse to type any more arguments. Play the two side by side, and make your own opinion. Unbiased judgement will stand by me. EDIT: And I can't be stuffed getting a number for TF2 players. Servers are always full/nearly full, so it seems pretty good to me. Favourite Classes (TF2): Scout/Heavy (Depends on mood) |
Press Junketeer Posts: 399 Joined: 6 Jul 2008 | Halo 3 and TF2 are too different to really compare. If you just want to shoot people, go for Halo. If you want cunning plans, go for TF2. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 391 Joined: 31 Oct 2007 | whoever wanted some numbers for TF2 well according to game monitor (http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?game=tf2) there are 4219 registered servers and at 14:00 BST on a Monday (hardly peak time) there are 6,999 people playing out of a possible 93,953 (7.45%) unfortunatley these are only pc monitors so i can't get numbers of Halo 3 players to compare. That is however just TF2 and with HL2 you've also got CS:S, DoD, Gary's mod as well as the standard deathmatch. CS:S - 31515 servers, Total Players: 41,541 / 511,951 (8.11%) DoD - 2356 Servers, Total Players: 4,498 / 48,526 (9.27%) Garys mod - 902 servers, Total Players: 1,025 / 11,372 (9.01%) HL2 DM - 1139 Servers, Total Players: 1,149 / 15,095 (7.61%) I'm not going to state those numbers as gospel but that seems to be the best site for those sort of stats i've found so far, and like i said this is real off peak game time 14:00 BST or 09:00 in new york |
Beat Writer Posts: 197 Joined: 3 Jan 2008 | I'm really indecisive about picking one. I enjoy both of them a lot, but for different reasons. I probably have to give Halo 3 the edge, just based on the fact that I've probably logged a lot more time on it. Halo TF:2 |
Press Junketeer Posts: 395 Joined: 27 Jun 2008 | I'm going to go with Team Fortress 2. It's just more fun than Halo 3 was. I'm still playing Team Fortress 2 to this day and I bought The Orange Box the day it was released, whereas I was really bored of Halo 3 within two months of playing it.. Plus, the community on Team Fortress 2(PC) seems like it has much less annoying jackasses and five-year-olds screaming into the microphone. |

Press Junketeer Posts: 466 Joined: 14 May 2008 | For me, it depends on who you're playing with. On TF2 you really need a good team and pleasant people to have a good game, but with Halo 3 you can generally have a good game by muting everyone. Seriously, there's an option for it on the menu, so what's the problem? Saying that, you can always have a good time with your friends on Halo 3 because there's forge mode which might as well be labelled 'piss around by dropping tanks on each other'. |

i wonder why Bungie haven't made a gun that shoots tanks yet? for custom games i mean ^_^ |

Umm, there are thousands of people playing TF2.... and will be for a long time.... Personally, I prefer TF2. If you listen to the commentary, they tell you that they spent a lot of time balancing everything, and designing the characters so that you can tell what class they are (it seriously helps, when I play other games after a long TF2 run, I get confused because I can't tell what class people are). The maps have been designed to perfection, adding all kinds of one-way tunnels, sniper lookouts, protected battlements, wide open spaces, closed corridors, inside, outside, they really wanted to make this game as enjoyable as possible, and it showed! |

' Hell the console verison is the same in most regards and people actually get together and stratigize..A lot... And then it fails and we get our laughs. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 4 Joined: 2 Jun 2008 | I'd probably have to say that I now prefer TF2 (360) to Halo 3. That said I still play both, but on the Halo 3 I seem to get alot more lag, granted the lag is only small and still playable, where as with TF2, I usually find the connection is good or it is bad (can be totally unplayable), therefore I can decide wether to stay or to go find a different game. On another note, I love the ability to forge the maps in halo 3 and make custom games, but what it is missing is the ability to search for custom games so that if, I so wish to allow them, randoms could join the game to increase numbers. My mates and I thought that would be a good addition anyway, by the way I know you can invite people but it just isn't the same as being able to search for games. Like they do for game type sharing, you could read little bio's of the game types before you join, to allow you to better understand what your letting yourself in for. Narrowing down the search range by adding in limits, (rockets, oddball, midship,????) TF2 lacks the customisation option but as mentioned the maps are made entierly for the purpose of those gametypes, I mean who wants to play VIP on the Isolation anyway? On your other point all consoles are computers, as other more computer savvy people have posted they all have CPU's therefore are computers. That said in "my opinion", that ability install linux OSs on to the PS3 like linux yellowdog, bridges the gap between consoles being solely computer via the component sense and possibly into PC. P.S. the PS3 has the ability to be played with a mouse and keyboard as shown with UT3, = RTS and FPS heaven making it PC > PS3 >> 360 |

I've got 10mbit and I used to have that problem, but about 2 weeks after the new year there was an update and it got sexy. Not sure when you were playing it, but just saying. I think I read somewhere that they were looking to do free DLC of new maps and achievements for each individual class, but that could've been all talk. |

Or you can play halo 3 while drinking and it gets quite a bit better if you play rocket race and stuff.
