So what if they pulled it from E3. They've had trailers and gameplay demos for like 6 months now on XBOX live. |

Halo Chronicles is being made my Peter Jackson and his team. |

There will be a Halo4 but not for a long while. Maybe in the next generation of gaming when the PS4, Xbox 720, and Nintendo Poo are made. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1599 Joined: 18 Sep 2007 | Just to be perfectly clear; Halo: Chronicles will be the inaugural title for Peter Jackson's new game studio Wingnut Interactive. No one has any sort of idea what genre the game is, save it's an "interactive drama". (Whatever that means.) Bungie is lending some assistance with storyline stuff, but beyond that isn't involved in any manner I know of. Halo Wars is being produced by Ensemble Studios. Again, Bungie lent assistance with the storyline and continuity, but beyond that is not involved in the game. Recent comments by MGS dude Don Mattrick suggest that Bungie itself is working on another Halo-related project, but beyond that we have nothing linking the famously-cancelled E3 announcement (and that "Superintendant" logo) with Halo. It's possible, but I'd like to see some solid ties before saying "yes" or "no" to the idea of another Halo game by Bungie. Bungie is known to be working on additional DLC for Halo 3, including one map known to be nicknamed "Purple Reign". There were comments made by (I believe) Alan Tudyk at ComicCon (I think) about doing more Halo-related voice work with Nathan Fillion and Adam Baldwin, but that hasn't been confirmed or tied to any particular product... it could be a new Halo game, but it could also be (for instance) a short film such as the bonus "Day at the Beach" vignette included in the Halo 2 Map Pack DVD. That's all I got... it's all distilled from watching the news closely and reading up in the Halo fan community. If anybody has anything more that's concrete, and not rumour or speculation, I'd be glad to read/hear it. -- Steve |

The first one was brilliant and the second one was even better with it's revolutionary multiplayer but the third one showed that they have no more tricks up their sleeve as it turned out to simply be halo 2 but with a poorer storyline and bloom up the ass |

And a level editor, and four-player online co-op play, and a "metagame" to add more replay value, and a better "skulls" system... not to mention the (amazing, IMO) hidden story that plays out in the terminals. I've played Halo games for five years now, and Halo 3 is rapidly closing in on the "version most played" mark. Your milage may vary, of course. -- Steve |

A level editor that is utterly worthless until they finally released Foundry I think it was and even that cost money and STILL all you can do is dump crates everywhere and build 'makeshift' race tracks. Co-op that was present anyway in all the others except not online and the only new feature of note. As to the metagame, if I get bored playing a game I don't then play it again with a few pointless optiosn turned on. What amuses me most is the laughable online multiplayer which is nothing more than an 'OMFG I wanted the sword dewd give it to me' *Teamkill* 'Hey I wanted the Rocket Launcher dewd' *teamkill* etc etc. IMO Halo 3 had nothing on Team Fortress 2 and I much preferred Vampire Rain to Halo 3 in terms of Campaign mode but then again I'm one of few people who actually didn't base my judgement of it on what the retards at IGN and Gamespot said |

Anonymous Source Posts: 4 Joined: 29 May 2008 | I'm actually tired of Halo. If Bungie wants to advance a story for a previous game, I think the have better options. I say, let a good thing die before it turns into something terrible (for lack of a better metaphor). I'd much rather have Bungie make a new Oni game. |

Truth be told, so do I... though Take 2 holds the rights to Oni the same way that Microsoft now owns the rights to Halo. If I had my 'druthers, Bungie's Next Project™ would be an entirely new franchise and maybe even new genre other than FPS. However I can't see Microsoft letting a billion-dollar series lie fallow for long... and if anybody is going to monkey with Halo, I guess it might as well be the guys who made it in the first place. -- Steve |

There's rumblings that the Flood will be in it too, for multiplayer if not in the storyline. If the Flood are in the storyline that may lead to, er, continuity problems shall we say... as the game takes place some twenty years before Humanity even learns of its existance. Though I suppose you *could* find Flood in the game's story, but just not live long enough to tell anyone on Earth... -- Steve |

Halo Wars is dumb. We've already played it. It was called Star Craft. |

*cough*Red Alert*cough* Anyway, as I've said before, if you look at other titles, Bungie have actually been pretty conservative thus far in releasing Halo titles. Call of Duty managed four titles in much less time than it took for us to get the three Halos (and Activision have 5 and 6 already in development). Heck, even Valve went back to Half-Life and released 2, Ep1 and Ep2 in a relatively short space of time. Really, in terms of franchise milking, Microsoft have been surprisingly lacking, though this could change in the future. |

Hold on a god damn second. So we've got the plucky humans with their tanks and jeeps. We've got the noble religious aliens with their hover crafts and plasma swords and we've got the evil aliens that use other species to breed and try to take over the universe at the command of a giant hivemind. Seriously. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 566 Joined: 16 Jul 2008 | OK OK I've been reading this and have come up with these points: > Another HALO game is no surprise considering Microsoft finally has a franchise for it to milk in the gaming industry. No point complaining, as Nintendo have been doing it successfully for more than twenty years. > Halo Wars is not in cannon. This has been stated several times by various people involved with it (and anyone who recognized the big mistake in the first teaser trailer). Any continuity would be solely race/class history. > Bungie will make another HALO game but don't expect it to be what you are used to. > HALO was originally going to be an RTS but they decided to change it to an FPS for some reason, probably to fit in more with the console demographics. > Peter Jackson is God. |

I'm pretty sure they couldn't have made Halo an RTS because of the aformentioned similarity to a certain other RTS which features 3 playable races. Can't say I'm super stoked about getting Flood rushed. |

I know there are tonnes of posts about Halo 4 out there, i just wanted to answer some of the rumors that are going around. I found this information on videogamesblogger.
October 8th 2007: Halo movie director, Neill Blomkamp, confirmed that the Halo "film is entirely dead," but consoled fans of the series by mentioning that "Well, we are already at work on another Halo game, I wouldn't call it "Halo 4", but it is based in the Halo Universe and represents a collaboration between Bungie and Peter Jackson. Halo 3 was definitely not the last Bungie Halo game."
So i guess the bad news is it looks like the epic Halo movie won't be happening, rest assured once these new Halo games are released maybe Twentieth Century Fox will come to their senses and start funding Peter Jacksons projects.
EDIT: I have done some more research due to the comments below, and I have found out that Peter Jackson is creating a series of video games called "Halo: Chronicles". The games are said to be like an "interactive movie". This was confirmed by Microsoft on April 24th, 2008.
