From what I gather...the enemy who captured the *thin* princess stuffed her with food and made her into a *fat* princess so it would be difficult for her rescuers to carry her away. I don't see a reason to get up-in-arms about it. It's not bashing or making fun of overweight people. Perhaps the name offended that woman? Frankly, I think her ridiculous rant speaks more about her own self-confidence issues than it does about a game that's anti feminist or discriminating.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am what you might describe as corpulent. I'm not a house, by any means, but I'm definitely heavy. This isn't something I'm ashamed of, however, and it's sure as shit not something that's going to make me blame my own diminished sense of self-worth out on some faceless corporation. It's also something people are in TOTAL CONTROL OF CHANGING. Don't like being fat and unattractive? Go to the fucking gym and eat better, fatty McFatfat.

I could see being offended if you were rushing in to rescue a prince and the opposing team kept exposing him to the gay as a way to keep you from being able to rescue him...

I don't really see what's wrong, but maybe I'm just not sensitive to whatever issue it's hitting. I think the fact that you're rescuing the fat princess means that her weight is a non-issue, doesn't it? Or am I being naive? I mean, if the point of the game was to try and make her thin, or if you lose the game because she gets too fat and you lose interest in her, then yes, that would be pretty harsh. But you're trying to rescue her. How's it any different from rescuing Princess Peach?

That's not really the point. From the sound of things she was beautiful and wonderful and everything a princess should be until the evil Blue (or Red really) team came along and stole her away. Now those bastards are making your once comely princess in to a fatty (or BBW?) so that you can't take her back. But you're still going to do it because your wonderful Red Kingdom loves her so much! She has a problem with her confidence. Saying that Sony hates fat people is her way of dealing with those issues. She is apparently not alone as many of the comments on her blog agree with her. Don't worry, next week they'll find something new to complain about.

Those genetic disorders collectively make up a tiny percentage of the causes for Obesity, also an important note about the genetic causes for obesity are that they cause childhood obesity. Genes don't just idle around till you turn 22 and suddenly swell the fat cells.
Whilst some genes just make it harder to lose weight, it can be done if the person is committed to staying fit.

Yes metabolism plays a huge part in weight control, but metabolism can be changed. The fitter you are, the more efficient your metabolism will become at converting food into energy instead of storing it as fat. Some people are lucky and are born with a very good metabolism, others have to work hard for it - but they can achieve it. It just takes time and effort, like most things in life.

I'm fat person. I don't care. I laugh at fat jokes. Although I'm not a woman, so it may be different.

I could understand the idea of portraying the Princess as a poor female role model since as a waif she is a powerless object within the game. However the gameplay mechanic can be used regardless of sex, orientation, political belief, or any number of different variables.

Since i love reading so much, i'll come back in a few minutes to read the rest of this thread.

But i'm surprised i didn't see this coming or atleast know that some people would be offended when i saw a small article about the Fat Princess game.

Once i play the demo (there HAS to be a demo) depending on how awesome it is i'll get it, but in no way does this promote that fat people are ugly or any of the other points that the article-er mentioned. In fact, it says the opposite because of the art style and the fact that you have to save her. This is like saying that MGS4 is offensive to old people because the main character is an old person killing everyone (if you choose so)

And i find it funny how the article-er wrote how she (or he?) doesn't care what awesome "photoshopping skills" you have and will just ignore them when the whole damn article is just praying for controversy.
