To non-gamers whose life is already pretty hard because of other aspect of social discrimination though (I assure you, us uglies have it much tougher than those blond beauties), life is "bad" (relatively) enough that they would want to take it out on the world. It's like a physical manifestation of being emo--you feel neglected because you spend Friday nights alone, watching TV while your roommate is out getting laid. Not fun, and most people would rather blame someone else for it. |

Heh, one can, but really--no one wants to actually defend the game, they just want to use the discussion of the game as a cockpit for spewing their hate. That is also true of a lot of people attacking the game. But at least those people want to make the world a better place where the other side just wants to feel superior because their mommies didn't love them enough or something. So let me try and do just what you're talking about: I took this game as just playfully messing about with the wide variety of forms humans come in. Kinda like how I never watched Fat Albert and though 'oh my goodness that's terrible'. In a perfect world where people didn't have the kind of personal demons that cause them to go on the internet to say how much they hate fat people, this game would be no more offensive than an Alice in Wonderland game where you eat a cake to become tall. But we don't live in that world. Still though, I think the game is harmless even given the context of our terribly prejudiced world. Maybe it's just that I play a lot of videogames and the first thing I though of was 'hey--someone picked up on the fact that _Pikmin_ was a brilliant RTS game' Besides, a game where you capture a woman, keep her in a dungeon, and feed her food levels that result in body modification? That's some kinky ass game if you ask me. |

I'm a little sick of fat people getting indignant when they are mocked or portrayed negatively in the public eye. Now, for the record, I don't really care about a woman's weight--I actually prefer a bit of fat to a girl--but it does bug me when fat people get all up in arms about this. I hate to break it to you, but you're fat for a reason, and more often than not, that reason is because you eat a lot and you don't exercise. Yes, some people have glandular problems or something like that, but being fat is, in general, something that you can avoid if you really want to, usually through diet and exercise. If you don't choose to do either of these things, then stop fucking complaining when people make fun of your immense weight or the rolls of flesh that protrude from your clothing like water desperately escaping a cloth bag. |

The irony of that statement is delicious.
That's because WALL-E was stupid in that regard. You can't make the first part of the movie about heroine called EVE that's a robot that looks like a baby and hovers around trying to save the planet, and then make the second part of the movie about humans that look like babies and hover around as the root of all that is wrong with human society. You can't make a movie where on the one hand you're being asked to look beyond the outside appearance of these two robots to see that inside they have something special and then ask the audience to judge people as helpless by what their outsides look like.
Yeah, this place used to be awesome. Seems like it goes downhill a little more every time I check in.
