Whats wrong with it being absorbed into Cracked? There was a game where you made whipping boys and beat them to death with the Wii-mote, a Lightsaber game for the Wii that realistically mapped your movements of the Wii-mote, World of Starcraft, and something about using the Butterfly effect to kill people. |

As it is, this would never sell. Make it so you're the guy lighting Tom Cruise on fire, it'll be the first videogame to sell 100 million copies. |

Irony of ironies that Yahtzee, a fellow who harshly critiques games and seems to have a chip on his shoulder against fanboys, should have such a fanboy following that somebody would recommend making a game about him. |

But of course. Follow the terrible liquor induced adventures through overrated games, nitpicking at every villainous flaw and idiotic design with 300 miles speeding complaints while defending against raving fanboys. All this while swallowing a wired line, pull the end through your ass and flossing yourself to death until you're finally free from the torment, only to be resurrected by the infinite power of Christ and fight against the androgynous, ambiguously gay inducing JRPG. |

I would buy six copies of that game. **** A game that combined Racing, Platforming and Music together. It'd be a foot race between maybe eight people, and the notes would come down as face button commands. The notes coming down correspond, not just with the music, but the platformer/racer. While the notes are coming down, you'll notice, there'll be blue and red notes. The blue notes notate speed where, when pressed, makes the platformer take the faster route. The red notes notate style, and when pressed makes the platformer take the cooler looking route. You get speed boosts by chaining notes, but you get a bigger boost for the more points you have, which you gain by hitting notes, although you get substantially more from red than from blue. If you fuck up, your character will slow down. Fuck up too many times, or at the worst possible time, and they'll trip and fall. **** A game for the DS and/or Wii that combines high-speed platforming (Sonic) and environment altering (Okami). The game's speed is about Sonic Advance 2 fast, possibly a bit faster. You are Angel Lavel, a man who finds a large pair of pants in his attic. When he decides to put them on, he gains the powers of Zepha, Goddess of the Sky, but is also cursed with uncontrollable high-speed(In all areas, including thinking, aging, and comprehension. He smashes out of his house and runs to the other side of the planet. He finally regains control, still running but in a circle so he can check the Instruction Manual. Turns out, in order to beable to control the speed, he needs the belt at home. As well, the pants give off a distinct signal of radio waves that can be tracked, so he needs to get the belt quickly before someone tries to take his pants. The object is to guide Angel to the end of each Level by using Tornadoes, Hawks, Air Currents, Thunderbolts, and Rain Clouds to keep him safe from pratfalls, hazards, and occasional enemies. There are about 4 Levels in a Region, and about 8 or 9 Regions. At the end of some Levels, there will be boss fights that you run alongside, evading attacks, and exposing weaknesses for your own attacks. The main gameplay is mostly puzzle platformer, and only involve two buttons, not even the D-pad, which are remapable: Jump and Zepha. Zepha slows time down to a degree depending on difficulty so you may draw in commands. Example: Drawing a solid shape will cause a cloud to appear in that shape for you to use as a platform or whatever. Drawing a jagged line from the top of the screen to a target will call in a Thunderbolt. **** Last but not least, a racing/fighting game where the runners do battle with each other whilst running at high speeds, trying to keep a high place, and scoring massive points via massive combos utilizing your own moves, scenery, even other racers. In different modes, the conditions for winning are different. There's Standard Race (Place highest to win), as well as objective modes like Health Hog (keep your health up), Speed Demon (fastest times are crowned the winner), and Combo King (Highest Combo Points wins), and each mode has a Circuit. Also, all of the stages can be Looped (Endless amount of laps until someone dies or the optional time limit ends.) in addition to being Lapped. You can created characters and stages, upgrade your own characters and existing ones with different attacks, equipment and specials, and take them online in ranked and unranked free-for-alls, team matches, Circuits or Character Trade. The battle system revolves around comboing the enemy to oblivion while trying to keep yourself ahead. Be careful though, as any move you have can be countered, even throws. While stuck in a full-on combo, you can do nothing, but if you are out of being hit for a full second, you can recover in the air or on the ground or prepare to counter or counterattack. Each character has two buttons for attacks and a throw button. These can be used to chain into eachother with juggles, bounces, slams or whatever. By pressing a direction and an attack button (you don't hold forward to run, it's auto run, although Drift and Brake are done via shoulder buttons.), you can do more attacks, some of which have static combos. So yeah, it's kinda like Smash Bros Racing or something like that...O_o **** So, those are my ideas. If anyone would like to make a game out of them, be my guest, just give me credit and a share of any money ;) Although truthfully they're only my so-so ideas. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 84 Joined: 22 Jul 2008 | In response to the idea of a second person shooter, I imagine a game where you see the whole story through the eyes of the protagonist but actually control the targets. Two possible ways of scripting it could be: a) The hero is ultra accurate and you just have to keep as many men alive as possible. b) The hero is completely inept and you have to try and get hit to advance the story. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 8 Joined: 16 Apr 2008 | a game where you control the savior of the world (as usual...) except... he doesn't want the job (well, that's common too...). the problem is... aw screw it. why not a game where you control a giant sentient toaster on a rampage, tossing toast at the denizens of the city. or a game where you, the random geek, have finally gotten fed up with people insulting your massive collection of "craptastic" (aka, original) games, and start killing them with hockey card's turned throwing-stars |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2656 Joined: 8 May 2008 | A man and his rag-tag squad are secret agents for the British. In the 70's they in the American southwest in the middle of nowhere on top of a large rock pillar overlooking a drug smuggling...camp...thing. Anyway the protagonist is wielding a lever action and in his bored (he and 4 others are guarding the rear while 3 more sit atop the pillar (which as a not so steep slope in the back which can be used as a road) sniping people in the camp. The protagonist sees a statue in the cave holding a staff; out of curiosity he grabs the staff. Farther back in the cave he hears a noise and slowly backs out with the staff. As he exits the cave 9 giant swordsman statues come out after him (they're alive now) he and his companions narrowly escape in their jeeps. The swordsmen are out to get you and you must hunt them down and kill them, the best way is to use the staff. The AI is really good and actually useful (that's about the craziest part of the game har-har) and when you drop the lever action or staff to pick up another weapon, one of your teammates will scurry over to you and pick up the weapons you dropped. Halfway through the game (in 2011, yea it's a long game) you "die" only to wake up again in a chryo-tube (see futurama) sort of thing in an abandoned ghost town that was formerly a large city. There are no enemies to fight, you just have to fin your way out. It turns out there were more then the 9 swordsman, there were 9 more and an army of smaller ones. Before you "died" you hid the staff and you must now find it. The swordsman have been waging a war on humanity since you "died" and only one of your former squad mates is still alive. He now leads a small army and when you reunite with him, he is cornered by one of the swordsman. You don't have the staff yet and you have to fight said swordsman without it making it especially difficult. There is no final boss, just a huge, and I mean huge battle with the smaller swordsman army at the end. Or you are in a sort of gladiator arena...thing with different types of matches. You don't know who is running the arena. You and your team must eliminate the other team in order to win a match. The catch is, each match is weapon type specific, like heavy weapons, pistols, shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, and gauntlet (online only) where you and your team fight increasingly harder waves of bad guys with whatever weapons you choose, unlimited ammo, but scarce health packs (that's right, health packs). You where a special collar that prevents you and everyone else in the arena from dying, and allows you to respawn. It's kind of like Battlefield in the sense that you have to kill x number of bad guys to win. As you proceed the battle become increasingly harder and eventually mechs and choppers and tanks are introduced into the heavy weapons matches. You get more points for melee kills and headshots etc. When you begin a match you can shoose what type of gun (that is allowed in the match) to use, as well as a sidearm (for heavy weapons matches, the sidearms are SMGs) and melee weapon and the more points you get in a match, the more weapons you can unlock/buy. |
Paperboy Posts: 30 Joined: 30 Jul 2008 | How about a final boss battle where the end boss is so huge and unbeatable looking, you have the choice to make the main character say "Fuck this shit." and go home, and you play a mini-game where you make a sandwich (with cinematic camera angles), sit down on the couch, and start flipping through channels, while the credits start to roll to the side. Of course, at the end, a gargantuan blast rips through the house and kills the main character. The camera pans over the wreckage, then the screen fades to black, with the villain's cackling laughter in the background. See what happens when you don't do your job? |

Paperboy Posts: 19 Joined: 23 Apr 2008 | Bump... or is it? Since we've since strayed from the angle of completely bizarre games (kind of) I wanted to mention an idea I've had for a while that may not be that creative, but would be really cool. Recently I got into the rhythm genre of games, first with DDR and then Guitar Hero, and basically my idea is to combine the two: dance on a 4-arrow pad while jamming on a guitar. Of course, both aspects will have to be somewhat similar, and each song can have difficulties for guitar, dance, and both. For anyone who's a fan of both Guitar Hero and DDR, I think combining the two would make the most hardcore rhythm game ever conceived. I mean, seriously : MAX300 + Through the Fire and Flames = Awesome. |

That second person shooter idea:
You play a member of the combine security, trying to stop the super-powerful npc gordan freeman from invading the cidatel, and when you die, you respawn into another member of the combine. It'd be a game about trying to slow him down, using you're cannon-fodder like men to clog up his guns with dead flesh, whilst you try and stop him from getting to medic stations and recharge stations so you can wittle his health down to zero.
As for pirates and vikings...well, I hate to tell you guys, but Pirates, Vikings, and Knights is already available as a Half Life 2 mod...
As for Pierre, how about he only has two raptors that he can train and let get more powerful, as well as re-collecting them after they've eaten the bad guys?
How about, you are a game where you are getting royally screwed over by corporate greyness and you have toe rescue gaming titles from the grey-flood?
Ok, ok, serious idea now.... how about an RPG or MMORPG that was very open - lets say, you start off with one city - a colony on a new world, for example, and over time, you collect enough resources with your mates or guild to found other settlements. Over time, these turn into cities where you can run for major, fight in the streets, fight crime in the streets, run businesses, quest over the world, etc, etc. Maybe even help build a new colony ship and found other worlds? It'd be damn hard to do but it is the 21st century after all! Would be easier to do in MUD's and MUX's a time ago, but MMORPG, and MMOG's are the way of things now.
How about you are an up and coming artist and you have to create new works to try and impress the 'art critics' (i.e. an AI or something).
How about you start as an ordinary man and try to shape the world - either by peace protests, getting involved in politics, bribing government, or even becoming an assasin servinig your own ends. Or a mixture of the all of them! Sort of like a Deus Ex/Vampire Bloodlines/GTA/Republic: Revolution/the Politics machine, all mixed together.
Some great ideas where already posted on site, pointlesswasteoftime.com thats now sadly absorbed into 'cracked.com' - here are the ones I recall:
Mass Driver - you have a truck, a mass driver gun, and a destination. Your truck is fired at thousands of miles per hour, and you get to see the craters from your bounces and eventual death.
WW3 - a real war game. An MMOFPS - the whole world as your battlefield, 2 or more massive armies, and chains of supply and command for the RTS/TBS fans.
Deconstruction - your a giant mech who's task is to help demolish a building using your hands.
A -real- superhero deathmatch, with building being destroyed, cars thrown like cardboard boxes, and people fleeing from the crossfire.
Anywho, those are the 4 I remember off top of my head.
