You're pretty much right but the PC is our fallout shelter, so we wouldn't be completely doomed. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2846 Joined: 10 Mar 2008 | No, they should stay far far away from eachother. Besides, I think the better combination would be Sony and Nintendo. for one, they're both Japanese so that's a huge plus right there. |

Remember the last time they tried to do that? |
Muckraker Posts: 268 Joined: 25 Mar 2008 | They should stay at each others throats until one drops out/is beaten into submission or until Nintendo's replacement overthrows them.(I'm sure Nintendo will be the first to slip from gaming into general recreation) I say replacement because it's always the big 3 going at it: SEGA v Sony v Nintendo |

*cough* *cough* PLAYSTATION *choke*
Honda is busy making a shit ton of money on Hybrid cars (though anything can happen) Phillips tried and failed miserably (look up CD-I) and Mitsubishi? Really? I have a feeling it will be Apple releasing some sort of iConsole or something. |

I'm a younger gamer than you, obviously - when did they try that? |
Muckraker Posts: 268 Joined: 25 Mar 2008 |
I know the CD-I, and I know it was a smashing failure. Honda would if the industry expands enough because they have the money to spend and make more money. Mitsubishi make more than LandRovers and Rally cars. They make all sorts of electronics as well. I didn't say Apple because I don't want the I the iConsole to happen and with the iPhone and recent surge in iPods it's a frightening possibility. |

Ninny and Sonny were goign to make a CD attachment to the SNES or something, but then Ninny decided to actually look at the deal they were signing and backstabbed Sony and turned to Phillips. Sonny was berry angwery, so they decided to create the Playstation. You should know the rest. |

I wasn't a console owner in the SNES era (even though it was the console that made me love gaming, despite never getting to play it), so my knowledge of that period is woefully inadequate. |
Paperboy Posts: 19 Joined: 9 Jul 2008 | What you may not realize is that Nintendo is the one who has been around the block a few times when it comes to this kind of thing. They made all their mistakes early (R.O.B.), when a couple thousand dollars wouldn't completely destroy a company. Unfortunately a few years later the first competitor did drop (R.I.P. Sega Hardware). Sony recently made a very large mistake with PS3, and Microsoft has yet to screw up royally. When it comes to the console war, as this thread seems to be switching to, I hate to say it but Nintendo will be the first to drop. Every cent that company is (more or less) invested into games and the consoles they create. If they create another system which flops *cough*Gamecube*cough* then that will probably end them all together. The only thing is it will need to flop harder than the PS3 has. -For anyone about to say that the PS3 didn't flop, please first explain why all of the games still come out for PS2.- When it comes down to it, hybrid consoles are a stupid idea for all involved. While its fun to dream, think about the practicality of it. If you were to take current consoles and combine them, for fun lets just say the Xiibox is made: To allow the capability to play games in HD, as well as allows motion sensors for the appropriate games, your looking at a console that will cost somewhere in the range of $700 or more. Probably more, because we all know that these things that we love are meant to suck dry our pockets. It also wouldnt work well for the makes because, as our friend Crunchy English said:
Any Questions? |

Ironically neither was I. My first platform was the PS1 yet I still know a little bit about the history of Videos and Games. |

Stop that, you're making me feel old I remember when the Atari 2600 was hot stuff. |

Ah yes. The technically first succesfull home console (not counting the Brown Box/Odessy), cause of the video game crash that for some reason people think will happen to us right now but cannot happen right now because a plethorea of crap will have to come along all of a sudden. Oh, How I'll rue the day when I complain about gaming now in the near future. |

perhaps it would be awesome, and new and dominating in the market and maybe they could topple nintendo but then again, they are ripping each other off... a lot |

Muckraker Posts: 268 Joined: 25 Mar 2008 |
That's also the title for this generation of gaming. |
Paperboy Posts: 14 Joined: 15 May 2008 | Y'never know. Sega might come back into the game with a new console. That'd be a shock, certainly! |

Well, if thats how it works, it will likely be the Ps3Wi0 |

Actually, no, they don't. They lose thousands because to sell a hybrid at a profit means selling one very expensive car. So how do they do it? By cranking out more three-row, fuel-guzzling Pilots that will never carry eight passengers and rarely leave suburbia. But I digress, of course. However, maybe the gaming industry could take a note from the automotive industry, specifically, share the bulk of the expensive bits and hope no one looks too closely to notice. If the PS4 and the XBox 720 shared all the same internals, differing only in case design and controllers... there would still be fanboys and flame wars, but developers would have a hell of an easier time with only one basic powerhouse system to design games for. That's assuming that Nintendo doesn't decide to put raw processing horsepower in the Wii II (I wanted to put four "I"s in a row... or is that five now?), but with the "relatively cheap, gimmicky toy" strategy working so ridiculously well, somehow I don't see a beefy system coming from the big N any time soon. |

Ya me too. Why is the Colecovision vs Intellivision vs Atari not mentioned? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2846 Joined: 10 Mar 2008 |
It's either intellivision or Colecovision that i'm mentioning, but one of those was vastly supirior than the Atari as playing the "baseball" game actually looked ilke you were playing baseball on the Collecovision/Intelivision consoles. :P |
Beat Writer Posts: 152 Joined: 20 Feb 2008 | I had an adapter for my Coleco that let me play all Atari games (providing I had the cartridge) so it must have been the Intellivision. Although the graphics weren't vastly different from each other (not like comparing the PS1 to the PS3 in graphics) |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 971 Joined: 7 Nov 2007 | NO, because microsoft have bad hardware reputations, I mean, my 4th xbox died literally 30 minutes ago (3 red lights). |
Copy Clerk Posts: 90 Joined: 23 Aug 2008 | Well I decided to stop beating myself over the head with a stick (the greatest form of fun because nothing new has come out since n64) and deiced to go over to my friends houses, to try some of these things out. upon arriving at my friend with the ps3 there was a brown out (almost lost power) and his PS3 turned into a shiny brick. so we decided to go over to my other friends house to play his 360, witch had plenty of the same game just with different skins on top of it, and after beating the halo series, (which took about 8 hours) we decided to stop and play his wii, which after 30 minutes of frantically waving a wiimote around, beating ourselves over the head with said wiimote, we said this is painful because none of us have the wing span of a six year old midget, and our heads began to hurt from the overly bright primary colours, and stopped and went outside! remember there, where you have to go when bus is late! or your car doesn't start! We had fun outside with paintball guns and the like, so the next game console already exists, you just need to open your door, and go outside! be sure you don't melt from only receiving light from tv's and computers. |

Do you think Microsoft and Sony should just make a combo of xbox 360 and PS3? Sony are good at hardware and microsoft are good at sofware. A combonation would put an end to the console wars.
