This is one of the most anticipated games of the year for PC.
Most people will think it is just another MMORPG like any other and nothing special, but it is more than that.

While I can't give any major details about the game away just yet, I have to say that this game (bugs withdrawn)will absolutely destroy World Of Warcraft.

This MMO is more PVP based than anything..yet has something more..which is RVR.
What is RVR I hear you say? well it stands for realm versus realm and involves the entirety of the realms battling it out for dominance of the Warhammer world.

When all is said and done this is a new MMO so it will take some time to fix bugs and other problems, but I promise you that it is a game worth purchasing and getting into.

For those of you who are unsure there is a monthly subscription fee but it will be well worth it.

All comments, reviews and questions to be placed here please.

Kind regards, Chris.

I will be playing once it hits the streets, at least for the first 20 levels. Easier to mock my friends when I can say, "Actually yes i have played it."

This game won't even make a chink in WoW's armor. Mainly because of one simple fact: the only MMO that will top WoW is Blizzard's next MMO.

Evil
Green skins( Orcs and Goblins)
Chaos ( Standard run of the mill evil bad guys trying to destroy the world )
Dark elves ( The 'pretty' class of evil )

Good
Dwarves ( The metalworking race who pack a big punch)
Empire ( These guys are a monarchy race who only live to serve their savior Sigmar )
High elves ( The peaceful people of the game with love of life and growing things )

Each race has a number of classes of which the player may choose after picking a race.

Green skins : Black orc ( The big guys of the bunch who overpower the lesser orcs and goblins)
Shaman ( The guy with the power, power of voodoo )
Squig herder ( Kind of like a tamer or ranger in other games..with some differences...)

Chaos : Chosen ( This guy you do not want to mess with.. like a paladin with an evil intent )
Magus (Magic user of the group)
Zealot (Everybody loves a necromancer!)
Marauder ( Basically a berserker )

Dark elves :Witch elf ( The warrior/magic user, very good in a tight situation)
Deciple of khaine ( Kind of like a monk )
Sorceress ( Your a wizard!)

Sources? What do you mean? At the rate WoW is growing, and it's wide appeal to multiple gaming playstyles there's no way any other MMO can topple it. Blizzard knows what it's doing and with Wrath right around the corner, I suspect most people that go try Warhammer will come back. EA Mythic knows this so that's why they cut a bunch of content to get it out before Wrath releases.

They have cut no amount of content....It was always planned for this release time.

I still believe this will destroy WOW. Yes wrath might be good..but it will be finished easily in a few days...then what?

If you are going to criticize a game..atleast play the beta or atleast look at the information provided.

Also... the rate wow is growing? if anything it is slowing down... plus everybody plays free servers these days.

Trust me, we all know everything about Warhammer-- some of us have been following its development for a very, very long time (me).

Even so, saying that it will "destroy" WoW is a bit premature. Wrath of the Lich King is just around the corner, and like it or not, many people are going to reactivate their accounts to just to "give it a try".

Cut no content? Did you miss this?
http://www.massively.com/2008/07/11/mark-jacobs-announces-major-features-cut-from-warhammer-online/

Four classes were cut. Four! That's a hell of a change. And four capital cities! Definitely were cut to make this release date. And that is how this game wont succeed. Every MMO that was a proclaimed "WoW Killer" failed because they released it when it wasn't ready. The only thing I see Warhammer doing is putting the nail in the coffin of Age of Conan.

Even though it was delayed for 2 years, I could've waited for another year for them to finnish all classes and cities.

Even though I'm quite likely to try it out, I fear it's going to lack content at higher levels. That, or raiding the same city for the 15th time will get to it, unless they implement them quickly. (Which I doubt, considering they have a ~2 months before people reach higher levels and start doing the raids, and you can't say they've exactly been quick with anything.)

Anyways, just my 2 cents.

Yeah, man, EA's pushing a game that hasn't rehearsed the dance enough onto the stage to dance for all the pretty people. ANd I'll tell you now man, if they pull this shit with any of BioWare's games the 42manZ is going to have to smack a CEO.

Four classes were cut because they were unnecessary-- originally, Mythic had four classes for each race, however, some of them were highly repetitive. They did not cut these classes so much as they combined them with other ones (See: Orc Choppa and Black Orc).

Besides, the game still has 20 classes. Consider that for a moment. That's a lot of classes.

I think the content was cut to make the game cleaner. Mythic was only keeping those classes and capital cities in for the sake of symmetry-- and they rightly decided to cut content that would probably have felt "tacked on" in the end.

Actually, that's incorrect. WAR will be 14.99 a month-- same as WoW. (Source.)

There seems to be a lot of misinformation about this game floating around.

That's true, and if they can balance all of those classes, major props to them. I must admit that RvR sounds like a lot of fun since I was a big fan of World PvP back at WoW's release. I never played DAoC though so I've never experienced RvR. But, one city per faction sounds kind of small for a PvP centered MMO.

I have! I participated in the PvP Weekend they held a while back. Granted, the servers were extremely laggy (there was only one, and I assume it was a stress-test), but I got to fiddle around with things a bit for two days. At the time I played, the GUI was still very messy (which is to be expected), but I did get to have all the fun I wanted with the Character Creation screen ^.^.

A friend of mine, however, is the lucky one. He's been participating in the Closed Beta activities, and is probably playing the Sneak Peek as we speak (WAR gave Closed Beta participants another chance to play this weekend).

EDIT: Oh, and let us not forget, the WAR Open Beta is starting on September 7th. My client is patching as we speak.

As someone who's actually in the closed beta, I can tell you that WAR, while obviously taking a good bit as far as the UI and quest-based system from WoW, also have enough of its own to give itself a completely different feel. The RvR system that is Mythic trademark (DAOC anyone?) and the feel that there is a war for the future of the world going on, makes this a much different beast than WoW.

I do kind of feel the need to restate the Destruction Races and most of the classes for both because its obvious that dib dib, while passionate about the game, is an Order person and doesn't really know what the classes are.

Greenskins: Orcs and Goblins (Wez tha best fightaz and we neva lose! If we win, we win! If we run away, we live to fight again lata! If wez ded, then we dint lose, cuz wez ded!)

Chaos: Humans that have given themselves over in servitude to the Lord of Change, Tzeentch for different powers and mutations for the small price of taking over the world and killing everything in it

Dark Elf: Elves lead by Malekith, the True Sun King, who will destroy the hated High Elves and take their rightful place as rulers of the world

Classes: Greenskins
Black Orc: The tank of this race which gets by on the knowledge of Da Gud Plan (Hit 'im) and Da Best Plan (Oi! Hit im again!)
Squiq Herder: The Pet Class of Destruction that can summon a squiq to do their bidding.
Shaman: Use the power of the WAAAAGH! and the powers of Mork and Gork to heal your allies and hurt your enemies.

Chaos:
Chosen: The Human warriors who have completely devoted themselves to Tzeentch and have been gifted with the ability to use different auras that can hinder his enemies, and help his allies through stat dran and lose respectively
Marauder: The Lord of Change has seen fit to give them a mutated hand that can be a claw, sword or hammer which can be used for different abilities and changed on the fly depending on your situation.
Zealot: Use your Dark Rituals to heal and buff your allies (thats about all i know, not a whole lot of experience with them)
Magus: Riding your Disc of Tzeentch, you command powerful spells and summon demons to destroy any who stand in your way.

Dark Elves:
Witch Elf: These Elven women of war also known as the Brides of Khaine have wholely devoted themselves to the Lord of Murder and have trained all their lives to be the best killers in the world.
Disciples of Khaine: The healer class for Dark Elves pride themselves on their ability to Reap the Souls of their enemies as they stand toe to toe with their fighting counterparts to help power up their healing abilities. (They also dual wield swords, expect lots of Drizzt clones here ~sigh~)
Sorceress: The only full on nuker magic user on the Destruction side uses the Winds of Chaos to fuel her magic, but be careful, for every spell you use you build the dark magic inside you, which can cause severe and damaging backlashes if you don't expel it.

Order: Humans
Warrior Priests: Take everything you ever wanted from the Paladins in WoW and you have the Warrior Priest. Using the power of Divine Retribution (might not be right, but close enough) to heal their allies and using their skill with a hammer to power up the Divine might, you stick close to the front at all times.
Bright Wizard: The Fire is your best friend and your worst enemy. Like the Dark Magic of Sorcerers, the Bright Wizards must be careful with how much Combustion builds in their bodies and must release it or possibly take damage with every spell they cast.
Witch Hunters: (I really dont know, they're like rogues i think but someone else is going to have to do this one)

I'll continue this later with High Elves, Dwarves, the Tome of Knowledge and Public Quests.

you just keep having that blind optimism.

the Elves and Empire classes had their Primary DPS delivering tank removed. so it doesn't matter if you have 30 some other hybrid classes when the faction you want to play doesn't have the Primary classes to compete with other realms.

also, the 6+ capitals/major cities where promised to us shortly after the game was introduced. something like the ultimate objective in a Massive RvR game. now they restricted it to 2.

which means they removed over 65% of the games potential content for player verses player.

so how epic can a game be when over 2/3rds of its content is removed just so they can make an impossible dead line?

Hypocrisy much? Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to the game, but blind optimism... I'm not so sure.

Although, on the related note of failed MMOs... Anyone played Pirates of the Burning Sea? A slightly less hardcore alternative to EvE Sounds pretty tempting.

Apologies if this is double post that could've fit as one, I honestly don't think it will.
My info is mainly what I've experienced so obviously I don't know about all the classes but I'm doing what I can.
I'll discuss the things I left off of then go on about some of the issues that people are having with the game.

Dwarves:
Engineers: You use your gun to fight off enemies and your wrench to make inventions such as grenades and turrets to help you fight off the forces of Destruction.
Rune Priest: Use the power of ancient Dwarven Runes to buff, heal and damage those around you.
Iron Breaker: (possibly main tanking class of Order, not real sure what they can do)

High Elves:
Sword Master: The tank of the Elves, they use magic to enchant their weapons to make themselves more potent combatants
Shadow Warrior: Rangers in a new skin, they can use a bow and arrow better than anyone to cause DoTs, break armor and do damage.
White Lion: Axe men of the forest who have trained with their War Lions since they were cubs. They can either train their Lions to be damage dealers, tanks or a little of both.
Archmage: The best wizards in the world. The have access to almost every magic known, and know how to use it well. They can use their healing spells to speed up their damage spells and vice versa.

Public Quests are a very fun addition to the MMO world. There are around 3 Public Quest in each chapter of each races story (23 in all I believe) that you can jump in and out of whenever you want, and as long as you contributed enough to the fight, you have the chance to get some decent loot. Public quests come in 3 stages, the first stage being an untimed kill quest where you kill a certain amount of normal enemies. The second stage brings in champions, which are a bit less powerful than their WoW counterparts and you have a time limit to kill them all, or destroy certain objectives which summon them. The final stage summons a Hero mob, which is a group elite type of thing, that can be anything from a powerful ranger (Chaos PQ Hero) to a Sun Drake (Dark Elf PQ Hero) to a Hydra (High Elf PQ Hero).

The Tome of Knowledge, in my opinion, is the best thing to hit MMOs since PvP. Something that details every experience you've ever had in the game, and rewards you for it. It acts as a quest log, a lore book, a title list, a beastiary and much much more.

Now to get down to the issues that people have been having. The class and town cuts. Mythic has stated why the classes were cut, as they put it, they just weren't fun. It makes more sense to add them in later then try to balance them out with them in, everyone knows that doesn't end well. They also talked about the town cuts and said that it would've made it into each race looking out for themselves, and they wanted everyone to work together to protect them, so they merged everything that would've been spread out. Let me reiterate this, they merged the amount of quests and dungeons into the one city, Aesthetics were all that were cut. They changed the 6 capital cities into 6 keeps which are needed to open up the Inevitable City and Altdorf for their big city sieges (which look awesome to me). They did NOT remove potential PvP content, an arguement can be made that they added it. 2/3 of the content was NOT removed. 4 small cities, 1 tank and 1 dps from each side was taken out THAT'S IT. That is not 2/3 of the content, not even close. No side is crippled in any way. Each pairing is only alone for the first 10-12 levels of the game WHERE IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER IF YOU DON'T HAVE A TANK OR ANOTHER DPS. It would be nice in PQs, but you're not screwed, if you were Mythic would've probably devised a work around for those races. The deadline is not impossible, Mythic CHOSE to cut classes instead of spending an indeterminate amount of time trying to make places and classes fun. They weren't told by EA, they didn't even consult EA about it. If anyone has any other questions about the game, feel free to ask and i'll answer to the best of my ability.
