I was thinking the other day about all the people who play shooting games and have never held a real gun. So how many of you gamers have fired a gun?
I have many times and I am a pretty decent shot.

Being a Brit I haven't (except an air rifle at a target) but I don't think I would even if I could in America because it doesn't appeal to me so I vote for the first option.

I've fired guns (at targets) before, it was ages ago (I was maybe twelve at the time) when I first did and my thoughts were something along the lines of "why isn't there a crosshair floating in front of me?"
It's good fun though, wouldn't ever want to go hunting or fire a gun at a person though (excepting that I would love to rid the world of Paris Hilton in any way I can)

I've fired an air rifle, and that's about it, although I do intend to continue my membership in the rifle club at Trinity College, Dublin, and perhaps shoot some .22s next time I go.

.22s are tons of fun. All the fun of a real gun without the recoil!

was allowed to fire about 50 rounds on an M60 machine gun when my dad was in the Marines and took me to a firing range.

have also fired a remington shotgun the few times i've been invited to go bird hunting.

my dad and grandfather both have several fire arms in their houses, however, both of them have also removed the firing chamber of the weapons they own, rendering them useless. (precautions you take when a kid may accedently find your gun.)

My Dad makes and repairs antique firearms so there's been rifles in every corner of the house my entire life. I've fired a couple different flintlock rifles, a modern pistol, pellet guns, and of course airsoft, paintball, and BB guns.

The closest thing I have fired would have been a water gun filled with... wait for it... WATER!!
But I intend on firing a gun atleast once in my life.

I'm going to be firing guns when I enter the military (in a few years time).

Our school has a stock of L98s for the CCF. Along with cadet rifles for the range (I don't know, I think they might be Mark 8's?).

So yeah, I'm an experienced marksman. With L98s, and mark 8s, at least.

I've never fired a gun but playing a lot of shooters does make me feel more confident around guns (probably wrongly so) but don't let Jack Tompson know that, haha.

I clicked Experience marksman simply because there is not a "Done it once or twice, I was a natural" option... I was a natural shot with a pistol when I was in Bootcamp. Shot rifle a few times in my life, but only a pistol once... I am better in real life than I am in games...

I've fired several semi-auto rifles and a .44 mag :P
Revolvers are quite possibly my favorite gun I've shot so far.

Darth Mobius did you not see the Done it a few times option you almost exactly recited in your post?

I've shot plenty of guns, .22, 30.06, 30.30, damn near every type of shotgun, muzzle-loader, and my dads .357. Big hunting fan, and it's great fun teaching people (most of all hot girls) who have never held, much less fired a weapon before the in's and out's of how to handle a fire-arm.

The biggest I have ever shot is my grandpas 12guage Beretta semi-auto shotgun. Aside from that theres the .22 long rifle, and that one lever action rifle he has, not sure what caliber...

I am an ok shot, for some reason i am better with the shotty shooting clays than the .22 or the lever action shooting a stationary target.

I was raised around guns and think education and experience with firearms is extremely important. I've shot a lot of different firearms.

I've gone shooting (At targets) with my step-dad two or three times, so I know how to handle a gun, but I don't regularly use them.

I used to Ref at a paintball field every weekend and would testfire the guns to calibrate the speed of their shots before every match. Last summer, my father discovered in his garage some old leftover BB guns that we enjoyed firing at a hung up piece of carpet.

As for firing an actual firearm (you know, the kind that can cause death), I have to admit I haven't had the pleasure, but am very interested in the experience and plan on obtaining a Public Carry License when I turn 21 in a few months.

I've actually gotten to fire a 9mm, a .357, .38's chambered for the .357 as well, a tec-9 with the 33 round mag and a hand gun with a three round burst on it which I think was a glock 34 but I could be wrong about it. I'm something of a decent shot actually, I can hit a target at 35 feet and get close to the center of the target.

I've never done it before, though I have shot pellets from a BB gun at a relatives place. I would like to fire a real life gun some day, but not like to shoot a person.

I've fired a few handguns, an M4 with blank rounds and lots of air guns and rifles. I was in the Air Training Corp for 5 years in my younger days and i was one of my squadrons best shooters. Fired Cadet rifles and Lee-Enfield No.8, Enfield was my favorite because the bolt action was lovely. I found the Cadet rifles a bit clumbersome.

UK sucks for having fun with firarms tho. I guess gun crime is small compared to the US but its a shame most people miss out on the enjoyable side.

.22's, a 12-gauge and a larger hunting rifle(can't remember what).

Yeah, the Boy Scouts were fun.

Experienced Marksman and a pacifist. No option for me *boohoo*

Naahh. I am a pacifist, no war for me. Then again, I like shooting guns, just as long as there is not a human on the other end. Can't say the same about animals, because sometimes I hunt for food (I could just walk to the store, but sometimes you just want to eat something with taste of real meat, like a bear or a wolf).
I have fired air powered guns, .22's, 9mm pistols, .357 pistols, .50 pistols, shotguns and hunting rifles. Smaller guns on shooting ranges and larger when hunting. Funny thing though, I don't own a single gun. I never got around to get me license to own a firearm.

No I havent. But when I was a little twat (9 years)I was fortunate to find an ak47(in the village)Besides, the war was finished just a few years ago.It was normal to have automatic weapons or even artillery in ones basement. Fortunately, there was no ammo. But I was too young or too stupid to care (My thoughts:OMFG!OMFG!OMFG!OMFG!OMFG! I found a fuckin machine gun)
And that was my first but not hopefully the last encounter with a firearm

Yeah, same here. If I use guns in real life, then it takes me too long to walk over there and tea-bag my kill.

I've shot someone in the face with a pistol from 50 feet away.

Does that count?

I haven't (except, if you count ASG / Paintball ;p ), I'm a pacifist. Well, not in games, but in RL I try to solve problems without combat.

Never fired a real gun, just the usual paintball and laser guns.

Suppose I wouldn't mind going to a shooting range or something.

I love to use my dad's revolver. We have a firing range about 6 miles away, and I can always get a ride over to there to shoot the revolver.

Shot a .22 at summer camp about 9 years ago. Rifle training and all that. I wasn't a bad shot.
