Yet this fall over itself in its primary meduim, video games. The first game was a simple story and was easily told. The second game is when it fell apart, The first part of MC's story was simple; bad guys attack earth, chase bad guy, find second Halo, kill prophiet. While the first half of the A's story was simple but never fleshed out as much as it could of. My opinon of the A was that he was far more complex, this never came through, as was my view of the convant as a whole, they had a chance to explore it but instead just gave us a saturday morning carton villian. The second half is where the story pooped itself, with being told what was happening during gameplay, 90% of the time I spent killing whoever had a gun to care, but the ongoing elite/convent war was not told correctly, is was if I came out of time warp and this war had been going on for months, a result of the very intressting converant backstory/politcal storylines already ingored was complete killed with the writer's verison of weed killer. Then Halo 3. Like I said, I liked the A, but his story was gone, no motavation to work with human was told, all his own pyche and that of his people after the purpose of the rings was reviled to them, instead 2D cutout character went around shooting people who didn't look like human. All the roots for a great story were there in Halo, but not seen in the two followups. Then we come to single player gameplay, I'll only talk about the two I played the most Halo 2 and Halo 3. While Halo 2 started alright, its over use of the flood, video games most unfun enemy in a FPS ever, destory The A levels, and the introduction of the Brute only worsened this. In Halo 3, it seemed that all the play testing was put into multiplayer because I never had such an single player experince before... and not in a good way. We all had bit of a game that were harder than the last level or even lackluster final boss/levels, but Halo 3 seems as if the levels were put in the wrong order as early levels were much harder than the last, we've all seen the zero punctation of this so I'll just say leave it at that. Multiplayer was meh at the most, yes I have had fun on it, great laughs but it seems that play testing team perfered to "wicked sick tricks" than their job. From Halo 2 onwards, it seems that the weapons had been designed by a team of 12/13 year old boys. And just like 12/13 year old boy all the "cool" weapons (shotgun, sniper, rockets, beam sword) became overpowered, the rest negalted. Any try to rebalance these wepons ends with even more inbalace. (And a personal note, who idea was it to add another overpower melee weapon when the first one wasn't balanced). But like I said I have had fun in Halo multiplayer sadly not in the way I think the developers wanted, its so far me getting drunk and with some mates at a 8 man lan party geting in the warthog and sing theme to indina jones while looking ramps to jump off and see what we hit. Yet looking back that probley what the developers did instead of balancing. |

Then Halo 2 was born, subsequently dropped on it's head, and came out with a mediocre story and some great online play. Halo 3 is the retarded child of Halo 2 and is in no way even deserving of the same name of it's predecessors. |

For the campaign only mind you, if you only play multiplayer 3 is all you need. And the majority of posting people on this site will tell you Halo sucks, biased as they are via Yahtzee (most of them). |
