COD4 and N+.

I've spent more time into these two games together than sleep throughout my life.

You want recomendations for games? Well, that depends on what you like. What kind of games do you like to play?

That said, I reccomend World in Conflict to everyone, just because I like the game.

xbox, i have CoD4, Halo 3, bulletwitch, the orange box, gears of war, erm...
so yeh, these kind of games seem to be the standard games.

Im 20, female, i like shiney things but i am a whiz with a sniper rifle ;) so, im really just wanting some game name drops and why you like them :)

If you want to widen your horizons, try these on for size:

System Shock 2
Grim Fandango
Thief: Deadly Shadows
Rez
Star Wars: Kotor

Your PC should be able to run all of these if you've bought it in the past 5 years (with the exception of Thief, perhaps,) and Rez is available on XBLA.

Devil May Cry 4 is something a bit different if you haven't played any of the series before. It had some mixed reviews but personally I love it.

Oblivion is still worth getting on PC or 360 even though it's been out for a while.

Burnout Paradise is a decent racing game as well if your looking to branch out into that area, and don't want something too difficult in comparison to say Forza Motorsport 2.

How good is your computer? Mine is crappy so any games I suggest will be at least 5 years old. If not more. Probably from the 90's.

Heroes of Might & Magic: Dark Messiah, if you have a fancy computer. FarCry, a good FPS, with both leaning around corners, silenced weapons, and the ability to go prone, which all FPS should have, the original Half-Life and expansions, if you liked the Orange Box. It's like Half-Life 2, but with more strategy in fight than the run-and-gun of HL:2, and more weapons, while your playing Half-Life might as well play System Shock 2, Fallout 1 & 2, good old school RPG's that are very RPG-y and it can have lots of cut's and dying animations, if you like gore as well as shinies, Death To Spies, I haven't played it but it looks cool and it has lots of Sniper Rifles, Morrowind, really awesome and so much shiny stuff that they become mundane, Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30, a good tactical WWII game without the annoyances of the ones set in modern times, Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, it's d fun with a cool environment and different, Dungeon Keeper: 2, a very un-RTS/god game like RTS/god game, played from the evil side, Hitman series, fun and have sniper rifles, and Overlord, it has shinnies and good 3rd-person-evil-action-hyphenated-medieval-game-play.

I tried not to broaden your horizons too much. I don't want to blow your mind.

STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl.

There is no reason not get this game and play it*. For hours. It's extremely awesome atmosphere (seriously, it's entertaining to just sit at a camp-fire and watch stuff happen) and great gameplay. I definitely pride it as one of the best games of all time, up with the Half-Life games and Rogue.

*Unless you have Vista, but there's no reason for your gaming computer to have Vista.

sounds like you want a date...

anyway would say Devil may cry 4. It's a very shiny game with lot's of shiny orbs to collect.
and if you wan't to change your panties more than twice a day... try Call of cthulhu: Dark corners of the earth. that game is freakishly well done.
and ofcourse the favorite of the month: Bionic commando: Rearmed.

Depending on how far back you want to go, I've got a few games:

Fallout: A Post-Nuclear Role-Playing Game
Ground Control (freeware, available from Fileplanet, made by same company as World in Conflict)
Beneath a Steel Sky (freeware, available from the developer's website, runs on the ScummVM engine)
System Shock 2 - obviously!

Bioshock

I'd say Civ 2 is better...4 just cheats too much.

psychonauts obviously. GTA:Vice City, Portal, Team Fortress 2, Grim Fandango, Jagged Alliance 2, Half Life 2, X-Com, Tie Fighter.

I'd think that covers most possible genres.

For the Xbox 360, I recommend:

- Mass Effect - a scifi action rpg. Quite similar to KOTOR, if you've ever played that, except the combat is pretty much straight-up real-time. I've never played Gears of War, but I think it's pretty similar to that as well, with a 3rd person, over-shoulder view and cover system. The story and characters are quite good, and the setting is very detailed and well-thought out.

- Bioshock - a first-person shooter. It has one of the most amazing, immersive storylines of any game I've played. The setting is very unique as well - an underwater art-deco city over-run with demented mutants. From what I've heard, the gameplay isn't quite as good as a lot of other shooters, but I found it pretty good. But you should play this for the story and atmosphere anyway.

Some games that are coming out pretty soon that look good: Fallout 3, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Brutal Legend.

Nah your not retarded. I had an awful time trying to quote someone once. Eventually I just gave up trying. The quote towers are torture sometimes.
EDIT: I just posted without giving advice. Maybe an older game like Fallout 2 or Baldur's Gate if you like rpgs.

Yeah. I said something about it in my recent review, as all of the games that I recommended were ones that I had already written a review on. That way, people will recognise that I know what the hell I'm talking about.

Let's see - some others that I haven't reviewed, but which are worth a look:
The Orange Box (Valve 5-in-one-package box set, I've reviewed Half-Life 2 as has just about everybody else, excellent value for money)
Deus Ex (in the same genre as System Shock 2)

In a few days, I'll be reccomending S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky. It has low minimum system specifications, and what looks to be an even better atmosphere than it's predcessor.

For the PC. ROME Total War is all you'll ever need.

depends on the types of games you like really. maybe go for some of the classics:

fallout 2 is amazing, sorta turn based isometric shooter
baldurs gate 2 if you like RPG's
starcraft is a great RTS game
and unreal tournament for a solid FPS

Well, from what you like I suppose I'll go ahead and recommend Spore, despite the fact that I haven't played it yet. It looks like there'll be shiny toys in that (at least in the space phase).

As for the rest...it seems you have a lot of shooter games, so I'm going to recommend some good RTSes. Anything Command & Conquer is good, but the Empire Earth series is basically a rip-off of Age of Empires and Rise of Nations (sorry MA7734W, but it's true) but still good in it's own way. Supreme Commander is a fascinating game if only for the scale it achieves, the Total War games combine turn-based gameplay and real-time battles in an ingenious manner, and Black & White is a strange game where you are a god.

And other games. Overlord has a lot of shiny stuff and is a weird combination of Pikmen and evil, and Evil Genius is a fun game which is everything the title implies. For the Xbox, I have a friend who plays Armored Core 4 semi-obsessively and insists it's genius even though I look at it and see just another giant robot game. Assassin's Creed is fun open-world freerunning and medieval combat, Crackdown let's you be a supercop with more weaponry than North Korea, and GTA4 is a well-done open-world game with surprising character depth. Seriously, I always get weirded out when my friends start talking about GTA4 characters as though they were real people. I spend the entire conversation wondering if I should know this person.

And I once again recommend World in Conflict, just because I like the game so much. It's an alternate history Cold War real-time tactical game. No bases, just your soldiers and tanks vs. theirs, with a free-ranging camera. It's like RTS meets Counter-Strike.

Anyway, those ought to get you started. I've tried to avoid the more obvious mainstream titles, though I see a few crept in anyway. Eh, whatever.

most games these days aren't considered shooters if there isn't a fully functional cover system.

I loved Bioshock though.

I also pre-ordered my copy of TFU as well.

Dead Rising - you get to kill sooooo many zombies! One of the few Xbox exclusives that are awesome.

I think it was mentioned earlier but STALKER is an awesome unique experience for shooter fans.

I second Bioshock and Heavenly Sword/Uncharted (if you feel like putting the money down for a ps3 sometime). Awesome games.

yeah let's by a ps3 for 2, 6 hour games...
Bioshock is a great choice.
I also liked Lost Planet an attempt by capcom to make the xbox 360 big in japan. Not the longest or hardest game around but it's a fun game if you can find it at a discount prize.
