SimuLord:
My all-time favorite game ending is Final Fantasy IX. I loved those characters and loved the way the story resolved itself (even if it was stereotypical JRPG treacle, it was really sweet stereotypical JRPG treacle.)

I have to agree. It's the fact that the credits roll on just as the happy ending is established and then then you get to hear Garnet's song with lyrics, and you realise how apt the song is for their story.

Also I'd like to say Killer7, even though it's just a black screen with names scrolling down it. I say this because the game's final cutscene is so dramatic, and confusing that I was literally in awe at it. I couldn't talk, I just sat there trying to figure out what the hell just happened. Then, before you know it, the credits are gone, and you're still left in the dark.

While not the credits exactly. The lead up to the credits in Metal Gear Solid 3, with the depressing music and EVA/Snake's speaking got me really worked up. I almost cried during that ending...

The Warriors, just because you can fight people while "watching" the credits

Portal end credits are defiantely the best that iv seen so far!

Thinking about it, im hungry, brb getting some cake ;) lol

Yeah! I like the song lyrics, but for a computer who sings... it uses very emo-ish lyrics!

I must be mad but I didn't particulary enjoy the portal credits. Song was annoying and they dragged on longer than to complete the game.

I guess a crash bandicoot (can't remember which one) and they dance. It's so simple it's brilliant.

Since everyone and their lice say Portal I'm gonna say Halo.

Yeah that's right, Halo, it's a great game with the most kickass music ever.

Portal was awesome, but the biggest sense of accomplishment in an ending for me was GTA: san andreas. It just resolved he story and entered sandbox mode.

After the genius ending in Portal, there are some second places:

-Zelda: A Link To The Past (SNES). It's kinda cool to see how many of the characters you met in the game are doing. Not many games take the time to do that.
-Ninja Gaiden (NES). Since the game has many cut-scenes it seems like the cut-scenes when put together are a ending video.
-Castlevania. I love watching the castle crumble, it gives you a sense of fullfilment. Extra kudos for the Super Castlevania IV (SNES) and Castlevania: Bloodlines (GEN) endings.
-What about Megaman 2 (NES)? Very cool Megaman walking while the seasons change.
-I really love the ending in Actraiser 2 (SNES), the statue of Master being afflicted by the weather and time, very cool.

Devil May Cry 3 gets my vote. The song is badass, and you basically get to stab crap through the whole credits.

Really? I got so bored during the credits. What really pissed me off is that you had to go through all of it to continue playing (and once you did, it wasn't very rewarding.)

Portal. Definately.

Loved the end credits for Gears of War. Black guy rapping make me laugh at the un-ironicness of it.

Altorin:
ghostbusters on the NES

Was that the one with the hilarious spelling mistakes?

I liked Mass Effect's simply because of that song by The Faunts.

I'd say MGS2's, if only for the mindfuck that was Otacon's revelation.

Also, the song used is my favorite.

No, really, half of them are oxen-related, if I remember correctly.

For me, Metal Gear Solid has and always will have the best (and most memorable) ending music and credit sequences ever. Not to mention the neat-o little end-credit suprises after all of them.
