If Bethesda are to be believed, there's around 80 hours of gameplay. That's gonna be quite a late fee! |

Blockbuster is one week rental and then you have 7 fee free days so 336 (sorry "my bad")hours(who needs sleep/go to work anyway) should be enough. |

Like that one part in the Super Duper mart video where the person playing punches a guys head off. I can't put in to words how much I'm looking forward to the game. Also, unlike they did in that video I think I'll save the town. You get a house if you do apparently. |

Didn't you read the latest article about all the people who died playing massive gaming sessions? Not that I'm saying a few big sessions aren't good, and I assume you are joking, but if you aren't, consider your safety before renting a game and trying to cram it all into a massive session. |

If you're referring to the FFXI ordeal i believe that they just passed out. None died However if you're referring to something else, then nevermind. |

Your right I messed up. I was half joking. But 6 hours a day will fit it in nicely. (I've done worse but not that 80 hour starcraft thing that happens) |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1431 Joined: 9 Aug 2008 | I came a little... At first I was just like "I'll see how the game is on launch, read a review or two and see if I get it or not". But now I'm pretty much planning on getting it as soon as possible. |

Yeah, some Korean (Korean, right?) dude died of dehydration after a three day World of Warcraft marathon. I heard that Blizzard created a virtual cathedral for him, and 100 gamers had a funeral for him, winning the Guinness world record for the largest online funeral. |

I think that there have been some fatalities in China as well, which was the motivation for the Chinese government to limit online play to just three hours at a time. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2847 Joined: 10 Mar 2008 | Well, interacting with the NPCs is definately much better than in Oblivion, that is a huge plus. I'm just worried about how many "choices" I need to take, both morally, physically, and stat-wise. After seeing a bit more of this, I'm afraid that the Pit-boy (menu system, whatever it's called) looks a bit complicated. I could be dead wrong, I hope I am, but it seems clunky to navigate through to me. Oh well, we'll see. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1946 Joined: 16 May 2008 | I'll be getting this game, it's fallout and it's on a console and it's NOT that Brotherhood of Steel game (which, inadvertently I had a lot of fun playing with my friend, despite its poor quality) |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2799 Joined: 20 Dec 2007 | I still think bethesda is awful at quest writing but whatever, it looks well done. Not gonna make a conclusion till I've played it 5 times. Yeah, that's right, I'm gonna waste the 300 hours and then say "ok it's good"... I'll have fun doing it! |

if that truly is the case, then you will have gotten your money's worth. |

You have to be specialized to be able to use it non-stop. Its not a 100% chance(They do it multiple times in video or they tweaked it.) But if your specialized in it then your other skills will be hurt. |

What other skills do you need other than Gun-Head-Boom. I'm not going to use VATS since it takes control away from you. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 98 Joined: 30 Apr 2008 | I just hope that the nuke quest is one of the mild quests, and we hadn't been spoiled by seeing one of the most 'epic' quests before the game even comes out. As for VATS, I'm not sure what to think about it. is it just slowing down time, as in if you to try to make a head shot without it will you have the same chance to miss as someone who used it. If its not slowing down time and you can make headshots easily w/o it, is there any gain to using vats, such as making it easier to take down multiple targets. I'm sure i'll use it a lot as I like turn based regardless, I just hope im not punished for it |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1058 Joined: 20 Jul 2008 | I know everyone has said this and thought it but Fallout 3 is at the point where it is pretty much just Oblivion with guns and a better conversation system. The start is similar to Oblivions, the voices are obviously the same (everytime I speak to someone in it now I will think of Lucien from the dark brotherhood) and the caves look the same as Oblivions. Though in no way does this make the game bad, just slightly on the unoriginal side. |

Well if you have no skills in using weapons you won't be able to headshot the enemy. If you go slow-mo but have shit for skills for the gun fat chance hitting. *Covers shatners ears and puts it on a card in front of him.* VATS IS NOT INFINITE SLOW-MO. |

VATS still takes control away from you and takes away the need for aiming. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1946 Joined: 16 May 2008 |
that may be just enough for it to be good. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1030 Joined: 6 Mar 2008 | Oh man, I can't wait for Fallout 3! I've had it pre-ordered for a good while now, but those videos make me want it even more! It's gonna be awesome! And that power fist... *drools*... |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2628 Joined: 21 Aug 2008 | What's he demoing it on? I hope that it isn't on the PC; the controls move way too sluggishly and imprecisely that it's scary :o Lulz; just saw the XBox achievement clink. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 385 Joined: 12 Sep 2007 | Hrm. Well, it's definitely not a Fallout game. The humour is missing, the dialogue is off, the music is wrong, and the general attitude and atmosphere simply aren't the same. It might be a pretty good game, and it might be worth playing. I hope it is. But it ain't Fallout, and I'm honestly not sure if I'm interested in this new setting they've got on offer. |
Beat Writer Posts: 172 Joined: 13 Mar 2008 | Alright, I'm in. I was in as soon as the morality came into play. Try telling me that taking out a town built around a goddamn bomb isn't an act of mercy, and I'll feed you a grenade. Luckily I don't even have to buy it for myself, as my boyfriend is a frothing Fallout fanboy (and not the icky No Mutants Allowed sort, either) and he'll be at my doorstep garbling nonsense in homemade cardboard power armor as soon as his feet can take him. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2661 Joined: 18 Dec 2007 | The voice acting reminds me of Oblivion. The Ghouls sounds just like Argonians, and the guard on the gate of the hotel sounds just like a Redguard in the Fighters Guild. I hope they have more people doing the voice work than they used for Oblivion. Oblivion was a great game except for the voices. Glad to see they fixed up the horrible face rash everyone in Oblivion had. |

As Fallout 3 creeps ever closer Bethesda are putting out more and more materials for our perusal. Gaming news site Kotaku have been handed five new gameplay videos that give a really in depth look at how the game will play.
Now, my reaction to these videos is "Holy crap! That's eff-ing awesome", but I was excited about FO3 already. Not everyone shares my enthusiasm and many are keenly aware of the shortcomings of Oblivion, a game that FO3 is repeatedly compared to. I think it's also fair to say that hardcore fans of the Fallout series are almost militant in their devotion and see the changes that Bethesda have made as an ignoble end for their beloved game.
The videos can be found here, Take a look and then post your thoughts. Is this just the icing on the cake for a game you're eagerly anticipating, or do they make you more worried than ever?
