Well, there's the obvious arena deathmatch model that worked so well in Jedi Knight. There's the expanded "Movie battles" esq version, where you have an objective to complete or defend. There's the "King of the mountain" type gameplay where you have a two teams of normal guys and the high-performer in each round is promoted to Jedi in the next round. I can think of several ways multiplayer would work. Hell, the Wii version has it, so clearly even they can think of at least one way. - J |

If the game had just plain well done good old lightsaber battles in multiplayer, that would've been enough for me to run out and get a copy. |
Paperboy Posts: 15 Joined: 27 Aug 2008 | My biggest problem with the game is its mechanics. You can't dodge while blocking (like every other 3rd-person game in existence) and movement just feels awkward. The combat is too shallow in my opinion. |

And Vader's the game's bad guy, right? And Vader dies at the end of Return of the Jedi, right? How can you possibly win, then? You know the ending before the game freakin' begins! |

and if it were actually based on a movie as opposed to the Star Wars universe (which is, for better or worse, far more than just movie titles) you'd have a point relevant to the current discussion.
Okay, fine. Your point is well made, but you must understand where I'm coming from. Many of his points were "It's not Jedi Knights, therefore it's shit. It doesn't have this from Jedi Knights, therefore it's shit." |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2183 Joined: 30 Jun 2008 | Guys, I think I should mention one important thing: THE GAME ISN'T EVEN OUT YET. All I'm saying is, don't start bashing the game before it even hits store shelves. That just seems a little unfair and this is starting to smell like a rant. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 548 Joined: 24 Oct 2007 | Yeah I also love the Jedi Knight series, and Jedi Outcast (wich is in my top 5 favorite games list) has a better and more immersive story than any of the new Star Wars prequel movies. |
Beat Writer Posts: 180 Joined: 22 Feb 2008 | The mechanics are pretty bad, if you get knocked down, you can still be hit & hurt. I don't know about the OP saying it's too easy, even on medium it's a pain in the arse, some/most enemies can block most of your attacks, this 'high powered sith' stuff doesn't really seem so cool when an irate poison spitting plant is more of an annoyance than a squadron of Tie Fighters. The force throwing items mechanic is badly designed given the level design, some times you lock on to a piece of pipe only to have it 'bend a bit', other lock ons rupture entire walls....truly a missed opportunity at greatness this game was! |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1139 Joined: 6 Jun 2008 | Based purely on you're description I'd say it deserves 60-70 on Metacritic, as in fun but nothing special. And I don't really see it getting much attention really, aside from what you'd expect for a part of the best-selling sci-fi franchise ever. |

Nope. Not for me anyways. |

Plus the ending is given away before it starts. At the start of Star Wars: ANH, Darth Vader does not have an apprentice anymore. Sure they can spin it certain ways but I think we all know where it's headed. |

Beat Writer Posts: 179 Joined: 26 Feb 2008 | I played the demo, and I thought it was God of War combat. And by that I mean amazing. I mean that gives you so much power, and on the hardest difficulty (avalible, it was on hard instead of the avalible very hard) I died 30+ times. It was hard having to know when to run up and kill, and when to lightning, and when to throw things, and I felt like a jedi for the short time the demo was. I disagree with you, but you are intitled to your opinion, and I respect the points you did bring up. But: Thats it. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 6905 Joined: 28 Nov 2007 | I played the demo and got what I wanted out of it: explosions, force tossing guys into pits, and lightsaber ownage. This isn't a game that's meant to be deep or challenging. Think of it as a summer film: mindless, cheesy, has its problems, but is a hell of a way to kill some time. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 6167 Joined: 30 Jan 2008 | At least some good can come out of this. Yahtzee can now have a 3 week "absolutely shit game" streak, if he chooses his games right - linking Too Human, Infinite Undiscovery, and this. |

A MAN CHOOSES, A SLAVE OBEYS! Had to be said. I always like the irony that a game that has one of the worst bases for a choice system also seems to tout the importance of it. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1030 Joined: 6 Mar 2008 | I just played through the first real level (the TIE fighter factory) and I LOVE IT so far. Unfortunately, from what I've heard, the later levels are the worst ones, so it'll get worse as I go along. I'm glad I got it, though, just for the story alone. It's like another movie (a good one). |

I'm pretty sure one of the guys who said that ended up a thousand miles under the ocean up to his arse in genetically modified yuppies. |

I've only read one review, but it was pretty positive, 7/10. This review had pretty weak points. Linearity is not a thing to mark a game down for. It never did Call of Duty or Half Life any bad, did it? Bugs and glitches was the only semi valid point in this 'review'. How would multiplayer have worked in STFU?
