Has no one mentioned the Best Mario Kart for a portable device?

Mario Kart DS!

True.

Thing is, it's best if played with friends, and it isn't very innovative. Except for maybe the "blowing-into-microphone-gives-you-bonus-lives" bit.

Its not innovative but it sure is fun! Isn't that what Mario Kart is about? I like Single-Player but at least it supports online for some non 10 feet away multiplayer.

Sonic Rush is pretty underrated. I paid $10 for my copy and it's a nice change from RPGs.

Contrary to a previous post it is Chrono Trigger (not Chrono Cross) that is coming to DS and it will be out before Christmas.

If they ever bother to translate Tales of Innocence into English you'll want to check that out.

Thanks for the correction. I put Cross in one of the posts and Trigger in the other. I'm currently playing through CC again at the minute and got muddled up. Cheers!

What?!?!?

Only two people mentioned the game!??!?!

Wow, you guys are pathetic!

Elite. Beat. Fucking. Agents (American or Japanese version)

I swear, this game was the most fun I've ever had on a handheld gaming platform.

Buy the fucking game.

NOW

If you do not get this game, you cannot call yourself an owner of a Nintendo DS!

While you have the right sentiment, I would say you're not going far enough.

If you have not played EBA to completion, your life is a meaningless void. You may not know it, but trust me, it is.

Buy the fucking game.

If by "to completion", you mean I've S ranked every song on every difficulty aside from Hard Rock, then yes, I've played it to completion.

For those that like EBA, you should get Ouendan and Ouendan 2 for it. It doesn't really matter if you don't understand what they're saying, since the whole game and the stories are pretty self-explanatory. You just have to get them. Import. Import. Different songs, different beat layouts and everything. Maybe obvious to people who already have the games, but to some it isn't.

Sorry that I haven't replied in so long. Thanks for the HUGE input though! I'm not too sure what to get, but I know that I'll probably skip Chrono Trigger. Beaten it already from a nice set of emulation. But I might check out New Super Mario Bros, Fire Emblem, A Castlevania game, FF3 and maybe a few others.

Please by all means, keep posting for others if you want! Thanks very much Escapist :)

If you like grinding, you could also give Rune Factory a go (harvest moon, but with simple combat)

FFTA2 is really good, but I enjoyed the first much better (story was better in gba version. Gameplay is better in this though.)

The Bleach fighting games are quite good too.

Someone here will probably dissagree with me, But the DS version of Final Fantasy Tactics is pretty fun.

I agree... that game is great

I would agree too, but I felt the combat was bad. That's the only thing I didn't like about Spore DS.
Also if you're a fan of old school Rayman games there's Rayman DS which is Rayman 2 and the Rayman Raving Rabbids 1 on the DS isn't minigames at all.

Disgaea DS I believe comes out today, a remake of the first one I think.

Advance Wars: Dual Strike's very good, I have 60+ hours on it.
