Press Junketeer Posts: 352 Joined: 1 Aug 2008 | I'd say it would be like the Wii with innovative control inputs (motion and touch) and crappy games. And they would do something stupid with proprietary technology that made it hard to develop for. Also it would cost twice as much as its competitors |
Press Junketeer Posts: 464 Joined: 24 Mar 2008 | it would definitely be ergonomic and come in an array of colors. It would also cost five times as much as any other console and anyone who owned one would cop a superior attitude because now that they own one they could pretend to be smarter and more advanced than everyone else. But seriously: An iGame would likely be mobile and feature multitouch tech. The only reason I don't think Apple will design a gaming console is because I think they are going to focus more on integrating gaming into the iPhone / iTouch (best mobile games on the market right now are for that platform and there are virtually no games for it) |

It would seem to me that the present-day industry would benefit from a dose of anything having to do with indie... |

It was considered one of the biggest "console flops" of all time, if not THE biggest flop. Also, the iPhone (3G I think) has games and Apple is boasting that it's the best handheld game experience out there! I wouldn't know. Looks like it uses sixaxis or something of the like in one of their racing games. |

Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 712 Joined: 2 Sep 2008 | If apple made a console it would have to be called the apple core jk, I find the name igame a bit too dull though, maybe the apple iCon? con being short for console and it's a pun. I think it would be interesting, I could see the console interacting with other apple devices, it would be front runner in hardware, graphics and features definitely, it would be stylish and expensive but maybe not as expensive as the PS3 and it would have a solid line-up of games. The problem would be breaking into the market, they would need to market it like crazy and I remember reading with the original Xbox Microsoft had to make a loss with it to establish a foothold in the market so they would need to be in it for the long run. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2861 Joined: 10 Mar 2008 | All of Apple's stuff is so overrated, and I'd assume an iBox would be the same. Everyone would be like "WHOA@! It has no wires! It's wireless! Look how chromey it is! It's so smooth and awesome! It's shiny!" but i'd assume nobody would actually care what it would actually supposed to be used for IE a PHONE/GAME CONSOLE. But I guess that's what people do with every console, but Apple is still overrated! |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3558 Joined: 25 Jan 2008 | The most trendwhorish company to make a gaming console (again) knowing full well that Apple/Macintosh has and always will be the universe's weakest gaming platform. Add to that a fanboy level that makes Nintendo look bad, yeah, I can see it happening. I can also see it failing (again) and I can see that failure not in any way preventing them from trying a third time. After all, Apple is all about the brand, not the product.

Beat Writer Posts: 215 Joined: 13 Jul 2008 | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_KxN0Nepus probably not what they would make but whatever. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2806 Joined: 20 Dec 2007 | That Macbook Air pic. just made my day. It really is just the worlds most expensive calculator. -but...it's sole purpose is to make the other products look better and less overpriced, it's like the Standalone Blu-Ray player's price tag that make people go for the PS3 instead. |
Beat Writer Posts: 160 Joined: 29 Apr 2008 | I have developed software for PC and I have developed for Mac. Of the two the mac was the least enjoyable experiance. Say what you will about microsoft, at least they support anyone willing to develop for their system. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2082 Joined: 12 May 2008 | Umm...you mean a mac? Mac's are prebuilt gaming platform. They all have universally identical specs, so with some effort, it could make a fairly successful gaming platform. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1341 Joined: 29 Nov 2007 | I think it got said up above, but isn't the I-Phone 3G essentially their stab at the gaming market? I played Monkeyball on it and I was impressed. Not with the game, but with the potential provided someone clever came along and thought up a cool game for a shifting screen. You gotta remember, cell phone games make staggering amounts of cash right now, so it's only a matter of time. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 110 Joined: 9 Apr 2008 | hmm, I think x-play once did a skit on this topic, anyway it is virtually guaranteeing that apple would do something to screw up their console, weather it being licensing issues, marketing only to their primary fanboys (the indies), or just making it significantly more expensive than their competitors. Most likely though apple, if this ever comes to pass will cause all three to happen. |

And don't forget that if somebody did make a gamer or utility for it that was better than the apple program, they wouldn't allow it to be used without "jailbreaking" it. |
Muckraker Posts: 259 Joined: 15 Sep 2008 | GOO APPLE YEA!!!!!!!!!! WOOT WOOT (however i have a feeling that if they did make something it would be shit) |
Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 827 Joined: 9 Aug 2008 | Don't we already have a pretentious game company? Kaz, anyone? |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 527 Joined: 19 May 2008 | If apple made another console and if it was successful, I feel Armageddon just around the corner. Like what nothers have stated above, it would be nothing but some sort of "trendy" product that isnt worth what they make it out to be. |
Muckraker Posts: 311 Joined: 17 Apr 2008 | if apple made a console it would be shiny and tiny and completely utterly awesome, except for playing games on. because they would make it ridiculously hard for lesser mortal to create games as this would tarnish the greatness of the Iplay. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 72 Joined: 11 Apr 2008 | i think it would be pretty good actually. it wouldn't be that expensive. i think they're smarter than that. it would certainly have pretty good hardware. the controller should be touch or something like that, it would be good and not too gimmicky. one thing that i don't want it to be is and add on to some other thing (i.e. apple T.V. or iphone) The main problem would be making games, but look at how easy it is to make apps for the itouch. they could expand that a ton and get a really easy way to make good games, not the application to build the applications but the code |
PROBATION Posts: 71 Joined: 17 Feb 2008 | If it was cheap and had some good games then I would probably bye it not that I'm a huge apple fan but I can think of loads of retro games that need sequels and remakes and besides apple did well with it's Ipod so it could do well with a game console or pc/console hybrid. But you could play online with your friends, and was the first console to allow you to do so. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 110 Joined: 10 Sep 2008 | They'd make a gaming console and it'll become a international cult sensation like everything they make. |
Muckraker Posts: 279 Joined: 10 Jun 2008 | Knowing Apple....it would be completely overpriced. If the PS3 started at $499-599. I can't even think what Apple would charge. Plus all there games would require you to hug someone or something else just at loony. |

Imagine it, the igame. Sure, you love your ipod just as much as the next guy, but what if they put their expertice into gaming as well. Everytime I try to imagine it my brain stops working. But I can't stop trying to think about what it would be like.
Feel free to give ideas about what it would be like.
