I dunno bout ever being called a cheater, but I know me and my friend owned 2 cheaters on Halo 2. They had aimbot, and all that, and we STILL won the match. I mean, if your going to cheat, don't lose while doing it =P

I got a cod4 one. In ambush, sabotage, I am my stealth class. Silenced ak47u, bandolier uav jammer and martyrdom. The enemy don't have uav, and I haven't fired a shot. I die. I watch the killcam. A guy is running along a side-street when he suddenly disappears and appears right behind me, shoots me with a noob tube in the back of the head and disappears again. I'm fairly sure that he was cheating. My fears were confirmed when he pulled out his gold, silenced and RDS MP5. He was cheating. Although he was using something quite advanced, to allow him two attachments and the ability to track down the enemy psychically.

Being called a cheater is the greatest compliment one can receive.

Unless, yanno, you really are cheating, then you're just a tool.

During my Counterstrike 1.5 days I played around with an aimbot for a couple of days out of sheer curiosity. That was probably one of the best things I've ever done because it let me see the game from the hacker's perspective. After I wrote up a report on it for a gaming community I was a part of at the time, I deleted the aimbot. That experience really opened my eyes (I was a total FPS noob at the time) to when it's just skill, and when it truly is hacking.

It's part of the reason why I think the call of duty style kill cam is one of the greatest things out there because you can actually see what the hell is going on when you die.

My favorite experience was playing Red Faction on PC online, my brother and I logged on and everyone was playing with hacks. At one point I killed someone who was flying fifty feet in the air while firing an hacked rocket launcher. I about bust a gut when I got kicked off the server.

I've been accused of cheating a few times. I don't think one of them should count though because the people that accused me of cheating were stupid. I was accused once because my mouse was jumpy(still is) and I happened to be playing sniper in TF2. Well it jumped up and straight to a pyro. However it just put him in my scope, not on the dot.

So, I am dueling on a private wow server against a warlock. I win and he starts complaining about cheating to me. So, I activate my GM powers and unlearn all his skills.

That's totally hardcore...being accused of cheating on an illegal copy of a game. That's almost as bad as cheating/hacking.

I did buy the game and I did play it for a few years. Then I decided I did not want to pay Blizzard to use their servers to play the game...(although I am pretty sure there is some irony in there somewhere XD).

Firstly, that's completely true. The engine is so simple that you can make a mod by looking into notepad. It's just... easy to understand.

Secondly, you don't need to. Most of the servers were unbalanced enough that you could just buy whatever gun that server-mod had that was a win button.

Doesn't mean the game wasn't awesome.

I was once killed by someone using some kind of PvP bot in WoW. How could I know?

When a level 69 Tank with an EPIC AXE is killed by a level 64 Night Elf at half health, there's something going on. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it pretty much looked liked he was using the cheap jumping around and glitching trick.

This happened yesterday, in fact - I was playing 2Fort in TF2, and one of the red engineers was dressed in blue. He only appeared in red after he was killed, and it took our team a while to realize the foul play. Still, I was discriminated against (I was also an engineer) and everyone was suspicious of everyone.

Every second game on CS

I went out the squeaky door on CS_assault and in my usual fashion i pop out to check no one is standing there and pop back in. I looked outside and saw a new bullet cluster . So looking up I went outside and saw someone door camping... and i shot him.

I got a chorus of HAXER for the next 5 minutes

The fact you played Warcraft 3 with someone calling you a cheater doesn't suprises me.

I've killed 6 players one after another in a WW3 match. (Well actually I didn't, I've just convinced the 6 to attack each other than I finished them while they're forces were low). I've destroyed my enemies in one serious blow. They considered that cheating, because they were the victim.

I was at a friend's Gears of War/Halo tournament and I was kicking ass when someone there accused me of cheating and I was stunned. Not cause he had accused me, but he had accused me while on local play. On a console I've never even seen before then. At my friends house. I just exploded laughing at his complete lack of logic and proceed to win the whole thing. Got 100 bucks easy that day.

Why are you talking in past tense? tribes is still fucking awesome. Hell I played it earlier today. it's fun as hell with maybe 20 different BALANCED mods, bunches of people and a good time for all. How do I know it's balanced? I was using the class that can pretty much kill anything in one hit and I still died, maneuverability and all that.

My friend went cheathunting in Starcraft once. He'd play Terran, launch his buildings and hide in the corner of the map - he wasn't intending on winning, just sniffing out cheaters.

The other guy (Protoss) went STRAIGHT for scouts and attacked his airborne buildings. On watching the replay, he didn't send his probes exploring and his scouts made a beeline for my friend's buildings. He was obviously maphacking, and got reported.

Good times.

By the way, cheating is such a harsh word. I like it when I profit from a perfect situation.

See, folks, this is exactly why I don't play much online. I like to have fun playing, but all enjoyment is sucked out when I hear someone a third of my age screaming uncalled-for expletives that my dad would have confiscated my console for just *knowing*.
The one single implement that Live! or PSNetwork actually NEED is a way to record from headsets (auto-activated by certain words) and then sending a copy to the person paying for the connection. I know it's not likely to happen, but since so many threads lately have been about "what you would most like to see in a game", I would like to state this as my preference.

Unfortunately I've seen both scenario's occur once when my friends called bullshit for no reason, i quietly kept my mouth shut to keep out of hostility's and an admin on counterstrike laughing about how he "doesn't" cheat and he, regularly gets accused, while i see blood stains on his face yet he's 100 health.

Note first one was halo3 second was counterstrike on teaside server a while back, note I'm not good at counterstrike and i rarely play so i was merely a 3rd party there watching this argument.

Back on track calling cheat works either way and denying is pointless as either a) one party wants everyone to think he's awesome and therefore cheats or b)one party is awesome and call's cheat to defend his rep.

Either way you can't reason with it.

I got accused of cheating in CoD4 today.

Apparently I had a Skorpion with no recoil.

My perks were Precision Aiming, C4 and Heavy Hitter.

I was:
Playing CoD4 online for the first time.
Playing CoD4 for the first time.
At an internet cafe, using the screenname "Netcafe", in order to make that known.

I ended up second on the server for the map on the ship, with 92 deaths. Much to the surprise of everyone else on there, including myself.

I still got Skorpion Marksmanship 2 in 2 hours though.

1) Too many online games to count.
2) Because people need to boost their ego and attempt to deny the reality of their (self perceived) failure.

sometimes when people so obviously are cheating it can be funny

i remember once on tf2 someone on the enemy team made their pyro move at twice the speed of a scout and proceeded to instantly burn the entirety out of my team. there were a lot of unhappy people but i was laughing my ass off. plus it was scary to see this pyro racing towards you O_o

Not me but a friend is banned from CoD 4 because someone said that he was cheating by shooting through a wall (for those who do not know the game has bullet penetration) and he is now complaining to get his account re-activated, I feel sorry for him.

I love it when im called a cheater in COD, especially when they die from my tactics. Often im pinned down by someone so i throw a smoke out to distract him while i take a different route and end up knifing him, i dont even go into the smoke or near it.

Sometimes i just get called a plain cheater because ive gotten a few fairly shocking kills (im not trying to talk myself up, they really were pro), like countersniping a well hidden guy, headshotting through a wall by predicting where he is or just chucking a quickscope.

I have been banned a lot in DotA because of how the game is amazingly easy in most cases for me (watch out Demi-God, here I come) and some hosts can't take any bull at all. I called a host a dick and he banned me under hacking than made a game with the name of "DOTA AS >> DOMMYBOY IS GAY". Though my mate who hates DotA wanted to test out some hacks so he made sure to screw him over.

I gave up on DotA as I only ever met any nice people except for about 3 nice people and 1 of them was an actual hacker. It is a great game though the community is terrible. Thank god there are no mics in Warcraft 3 though, I cant stand children that scream "noob".

I've been accused of hacking in Counterstrike so many times that it's sad. I've been playing that game since 1.2 and I don't even like changing my skins, let alone load a hack.

I just look at it as a round-a-about compliment.

People accuse everyone who beats them at cheating because they think it's impossible that they could lose. There are some people, like me, that will just say: "How the hell did he do that? That was awesome!"

I'll admit I've used a hack for CS:S once, this was when it was still beta with like 2 maps available. I never denied that I was cheating simply because it was just an experiment and I kinda had fun.

Anyways, after using one of these things you really do learn a lot about how they work and how to spot other cheaters. One of the easiest to see tell-tale signs of a cheater in CS:S is to look at how they deal with the recoil when they shoot. Like if you see the guy shooting and his crosshair just goes downwards all the time, then yeah he's at least using a no-recoil. Now some good players do it as well, but it's really easy to tell the difference.

Back when I used to play ICTF (Insta-gib Capture The Flag) in Quake III. I would often get accused of cheating. On some maps I'd exceed 60% accuracy with the Railgun. The funniest part is that I hardly ever played without music blasting, so I really couldn't hear where they were, but I had a real good situational awareness at the time (Something which I think I lost with time). I would often times be able to accurately predict where anyone is at any given time in the game.

I've also been accused of wall hacking in CS:S a few times. The best way to shut someone up when they say that is to tell them "I know where you are, that's true. Basically you're NOT where any of my teammates are." Good ol' radar.

I was accused of cheating in Halo 2, about a week after launch. I was driving a Warthog on Coagulation and my gunner (OMG a gurl!) was just racking up the kills. You see, the opposing team would just rush out behind their base and stand there with their SMGs, and we'd gotten bored of waiting for them to either rush our base or come fight in the dry wash. So I got on the wheel and my teammate got on gun and orbited their base, gunning them down faster than they could respawn.

It's like they didn't know there were grenades you could throw, or bigger guns inside the base, or better places to fight from, or their own *censored* Warthogs right there with 'em behind their base... nope, we were cheating because we wouldn't "get out of [our] truck." *facepalm*

Once in COD 4 on headquarters a hacker of some sort on 360 made it so the headquarters were worth 50 pts every 5 secs. not all hackers are bad

The only game I was ever really accused of cheating was Counter Strike. Back in high school I used to play the game religiously, and was very good at it. That wasn't the problem though. I was consistently good, and everyone on the handful of servers I played on, knew and were used to it.

I put the game down for a year or so, and was eventually drawn back to it. Hehe, I wasn't even close to how well I used to play. No problem for me,I accepted the loss ( I just dont have enough time in a day to devote a great deal of it to a game anymore) and enjoyed being average joe player. I picked a server and stuck with it. However, some times I would just get so into the game that I entered a zen-like state (some gaming equivalent to super-saiyin, if you will) , and became just unstoppable. It was the consistency that got me banned from the only server I played on. From the other players point of view it looked like a distinctly avg player was "turning on tha h4x". After a particularly brutal spree I was accused of hacking by one of the server regulars, with most of the enemy team (and some of my own) taking up the cry of "h4xor", I was promptly banned by one of the new admins (whom I was not well acquainted with).
